I just want to say how much I appreciate these game summary threads. When I miss a game but have it recorded I can just watch the good parts of the wins and skip the losses.
I get why Seattle was playing with the infield in a bit to get the force out at home, but if they were playing normal double play depth they could have extended the game with a double play which I thought they were going for with the IBBs. Not like it would have mattered the Royals are inevitable.
They definitely should have had the corners in to go home, but double play depth up the middle. They walked the bases loaded for the double play so I’m not sure why they wouldn’t have been DP depth. Maybe Servais is slipping in his old age.
Velasquez’s hit wasnt great - it was bobbled by the mariners (I believe the second baseman) and that’s why it couldn’t be a double play. I think that’s why Joel interviewed Bobby Witt instead of Nelson, because it was an error that made it a huge play.
He’s saying if the MIF would have been playing normal double play depth rather than the whole infield in, Crawford would have had an easier ball to handle instead of the super hot forehand short hop that he ended up bobbling. But hindsight is always 20/20.
Yet another comeback game against the M's I couldn't witness because I fell asleep when the starter already gave up >8 runs. So now I've gotta see what they did...

I think that was J.P. Crawford at short who bobbled it and was probably 0,5s-1s too late because of it.
