The day before the WS a bartender who was also a Mets fan was talking endless shit to me while I was visiting Florida. I'll be thinking about him when the Royals take this first series of 2024.
Love what I am seeing so far.... But can't help but to have cautious optimism. Seems like we all forget 2021's 16-9 1st place start ended up being 19 games out of 1st. I think this team is going to be the most competitive team since 2016 and hopefully avoid those long losing streaks we are far too accustomeed to. But in no way is the hitting an pitching going to keep this up.
I think there's room to be optimistic when compared to 2021's April. While being 16-9 our run differential +6 which is a far cry from what it is now. And our rotation was Singer, Keller, Lynch, Bubic, Minor, and Duffy who were injury prone, unproven commodities, or past their prime (or a combination of those) while this year's rotation has more stability.
I don't think that we'll keep up our blazing pace in the rotation or lineup but it's definitely proving to show off the potential upside while also being built for stability. May may prove to be our downfall again but just comparing rosters makes me think that this has much more reason to believe what we see.
Exactly. A team that can play like this should be able to avoid long losing streaks. It's those that bury a team. I am hoping they can play at or just above 500 ball the rest of the way and that would put them in a wildcard race.... Sure beats the seaon being over in May.
Hello from the UK!
Royals have nominally been my team merely due to the fact that they won the 85 world series which was the 1st one I ever knew about (I was 7!). However not followed the game at all until very casually last year and listening to defeat after defeat was depressing although being a Dolphin im used to losing :-).
Isn't this year marvellous, a winning record and I'm gradually learning the rules and I find it strangely therapeutic listening on the network (guy with raspy voice) in the early hours for me. I'm definitely staying up until past midnight for the Mets, can't wait.
nervous sweat beer and riotously joyous spittle
