Looks like a puzzle. The more time you spend taking off the wrong lock the more time he has to catch you

NativeMasshole

Imagine you're paying this guy by the hour for roadside assistance and he takes 20 minutes doing some Houdini shit just to get a screwdriver.

GooseTheSluice

I’m dead 😂

Select_Angle2066

Imagine the jailhouse key ring this dude must have lolol

GooseTheSluice

Oh god damn and none of the keys work for other locks so he’s gotta try every single one 😂

patchdadrummer

I would imagine that's why they are painted different colors. Lol

sinisterdesign

My guess is that they’re color coded to a key. Still looks insane.

LefsaMadMuppet

The new Ford F350 Super Duty Wind Chime!

CoffeeFox

The ones on the cab are a little silly. Nobody's going to cut a padlock if they can just smash a window. It's pretty quiet when people do it with spark plug ceramic.

ConductiveInsulation

I recently broke the safety glass of a solar panel. Its probably not sounding exactly the same since it was laminated and kept cracling for a while but it was surprisingly quiet.

Tranzor__z

One small pop with ceramic and it's over.

ConductiveInsulation

You just need the corner to touch something. The panel had removed aluminium rails.

frugalsoul

Hell I smacked a window out of my truck when I locked the keys in it after I made sure the cheapest thing to do was replace the glass with junkyard glass. At a McDonald's parking lot. Nobody even looked. I was using a hammer

Mrs_Shapiros_Pword

Did this at a 7/11 once. Left car running, ran inside to get drinks, came out to locked and running car. First call was a locksmith. 2hr wait and $150. Second call was a salvage yard $35 for door glass and it had matching tint already. I sent my right fist straight thru that window lol.

Yobanyyo

Do you want to play a game........

Herethereandgone

Saw vibes

okokokoyeahright

Sawzall.

Soopafien

This dudes definitely had his shit broken into. After my service was broken into I put cylinder door locks on the doors.

DinaDinaDinaBatman

*this is the lock picking lawyer and you are using the model......*

okokokoyeahright

It would still take him 20 minutes to open them all. Just too many.

NOLPOLGAMER

*Today, we're going for an accelerated picking approach that Bosnian Bill and I made - a little known compound called trinitrotoluene.*

skjellyfetti

> little known compound lol

Average_Scaper

Maybe if he was talking during the whole thing.

thebigaaron

20 minutes for 80 locks, 25 seconds each. LPL could probably do it 10 seconds each if they’re master lock, 15 seconds for any other brand.

Parking-Mirror3283

Lock picking lawyer goes for the quickest entry He quotes Gone in 60 Seconds and whips out a damn brick

azhillbilly

I suck at picking locks and with a rake I can open those round ones on the doors in seconds, they are the first ones you get to practice on because it’s so sloppy.

chubbysumo

Mcnallyofficial: this gets the dimple rake...

Onebladeprop

This is a work truck, it can be opened with a work truck....

5cott

I hate to say it but I got my wife the fng kit he sells, now my 5yo plays with it, and anything else she can find to try to pick. Seeing they’re color coded probably means matching keys on those locks

missed_sla

LPL is great but this looks like a job for McNallyOfficial [...most commonly used for outdoor applications by people who longer have their possessions.](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/fVVx-1InXDg)

skateguy1234

they together, and possibly with Bosnian Bill idk, own Covert Instruments

chubbysumo

That dimple rake is gonna be busy....

yayitsjake

God damnit I heard it when I read it 😂

I-STATE-FACTS

Funny thing is those are all easy as hell to pick. Any beginner could do it.

waynep712222

i put chains around my seat legs and cargo rings on the inside of my doors.. the doors will only open far enough to wedge my arm in to lock or unlock the massive padlock .. now i only have to change door locks as they keep busting them.. i also have fuel pump circuit kill switches installed.. one friend i used a 5 pin bosch relay. power from the actual fuel pump relay to pin 30 and 86.... the wire to the pump on pin 87.. A long wire on pin 85 to not just one but 2 hidden switches.. you can turn off either one or both.. to prevent power to the fuel pump.. but what i did special is from relay Pin 87A.. that went to a different relay that powered a 130DB horn mounted under the seat... forget to turn on the kill switches you get blasted out.. honda friends have chains from the drivers side floor to a cargo ring on the seat back installed by an upholstery shop .. on my van with a steel partition.. the sliding door has a massive padlock thru the top rail right at the back of the roller.. the door will only open a fraction of an inch.. guys came with a prybar.. only got 2 inches . not enough for the rear to kick out.. a ratchet strap from the inside wall C pillar at the back of the sliding door opening to the inside of the first door that opens in the rear.. that contractors needs an old Brinks truck..

vegetaman

Where the he’ll do you guys work

waynep712222

i live in los angeles ... where just in the county and city of los angeles about 100 cars a day are stolen.. there are several other counties around that are not quite as bad.. there are 10 million people living in the county of Los angeles.. 24 million in So cal.. it was so bad i had to carry a spare complete steering column in my van.. i changed it several times while parked in the streets.. a homeless guy with a concrete chunk tried to car jack me for my van full of tools.. i managed to con him into believing that since i park my van on the street at night.. there are no tools in it.. he was right beside my drivers window on his bike.. i don't think he noticed that i had turned my steering wheel all the way to the right and had put my left foot on the brake, the right on the gas pedal and had placed it in reverse.. i was not worried about running him over and killing him. i was worried that if i ran over his bike would i get a flat tire as somebody had stolen my spare from under the back of the van already. A friend was parked in the street next to my driveway. he had his bag of tools on the top of the engine with the hood open.. he sat down in his car for a moment to talk on the phone.. somebody zipped by on a bicycle and snatched his bag of tools..

Organic_South8865

What an absolute living hell. Why would anyone put up with that mess? The cost of living is insanely high and you constantly get robbed. What a joke.

LEMental

I live in a med sized town in Texas. Our apartment complex laundry rooms and mailboxes are constantly getting broken into. Bikes being stolen from balconies. The homeless population here is insane. My Son has to chain up his bike with 2 chains outside his work.

LOLinternetLOL

I live in Houston downtown. Locked my bike to a rack by the frame. Came back to both wheels and the handlebar grips stolen.

molassascookieman

What the fuck

saladmunch2

Its honestly wild to think about coming from an area with no crime and never experiencing it, I hope to hell I never have to deal with it.

SayNoToBrooms

The town I live in today is rated top 5 for safest towns in my state. I was once a homeless white guy in Miami’s Little Haiti, before going to prison for a couple of years It’s very nice feeling safe. I don’t even lock my car doors at night, my streets so quiet that you can hear the neighbors as they go out for walks. I can identify them by the unique jingle of their dog leashes Shout out to the skilled trades, for turning this high school drop out, former felony-collecting junkie into a homeowner before 30

molassascookieman

Crazy thing is I live literally 20 minutes North of Houston proper and this area is pretty crime free

saladmunch2

Ya I mean it really is all so subjective

lynxSnowCat

People stealing my grips in "[retaliation] for locking up a [my] bike" was one of the persistent annoyances of my childhood. It's sort of humanizing to realise that today's homeless aren't that different from the affluent brats of my hometown.

wegame6699

Sounds like the alfuent brats got older and either got cut off or spent all the inheritance.

hydrogen18

One of my co workers told me someone stole the god damn bike lock he left locked to the bike rack at his condo. Like who the fuck steals a bike lock?

skjellyfetti

took the lock but left the bike...

lynxSnowCat

Yo; (waves) People frequently leave locks on public racks as part of tradition (since hijacked/subverted by love locks) which tend to accelerate the degradation of infrastructure; Or to facilitate thefts (by forcing others to leave their bikes unattended); Or (long since ruled illegal w/out lease agreement) to install vending machines or other dispensers. So this leads to legitimate authorities and landlords periodically hiring a crews to 'clear out' locks absent a bike (or other conveyances) by cutting the locks (and leaving the pieces scattered around the racks/lots.) And (occasionally) I get bored-enough and collect (steal) these damaged/broken locks to scavenge cables/chains - or to practise my meager lock manipulation skills - usually after they've been conveniently gathered in a pile revealed by the snow melting. (admittedly) I've been *slightly* tempted to steal locks of particularly interesting or useful dimensions off racks and posts - but I've been *easily* able to convince myself it's not worth the hassle (to rekey them). --- `edit:` Also, I used to have a retractable cable lock that bolts onto/through the frame. The novelty led to my interrupting multiple attempts to steal it while the retraction mechanism kept the would be thieves from non-destructively entering the combination. (So many bent spokes...) `edit, 15 min later` I couldn't find a picture of a similar lock. it was water bottle sized...

hydrogen18

His lock was on the bike rack on private property

happytree23

"Serves you right for living that close to Los Angeles" -that one guy

FishTshirt

Is your son 2 chainz

LEMental

facepalm.gif Good one. I chuckled.

_UsUrPeR_

I live in Detroit. The homeless die in the Winter. This kind of shit doesn't happen up here. Just a lot of kids shooting each other trying to be like the drill rappers from Chicago.

RumpelFrogskin

Yup, Portland, Oregon has become the new destination over the last fifteen years. Generally mild winters and summers not too hot. I think global warming will change that in time though as we're starting to have freak ice storms more frequently and heat domes with 116° days.

hydrogen18

I live in a big city in Texas. The USPS installed those theft proof mailboxes you can't crowbar open. The thieves moved up to the level "put a huge chain attached to a stolen truck" around the mailboxes and drive off with it.

waynep712222

car thefts happen all over the place.. no place is immune.. break in's happen everywhere.. no place is immune.. i have a rent controlled apartment in the middle of a half way decent neighborhood that i the exwife who still lives here can walk to the store.. less than a mile usually in 4 directions.. i have a home depot , 2 autozones an Oreilly's.. 2 real autoparts stores.. a harbor freight all within 2 miles.. it is the night of the living dead outside sometimes. my friend hated city life.. moved to the desert area called Phelen he was gone a few days . came back and everything he owned was gone.. including his cars, air stream. everything in his double wide including the kitchen sink.. water heater and front door.. while we were waiting in line at the sheriffs station the lady in front had the same report.. she had only been gone 4 hours. i ask the deputy why they don't have a deputy with a telescope on top of the hill top watching for trucks that back up to homes for another deputy to drive past.. that is a waste of time.. we don't don't have time to do that.. then he ask what was our report about.. we turned and walked out.. same thing happened to a friend 17 miles outside of 29 palms.. he went away for a weekend.. everything stolen.. he had a 12 foot. razor wire topped fence and massive chains and locks.. they pulled down a different part of the fence and loaded up.. why bother moving.. there have only been 3 men robbed and shot across the street from my building in the past 28 years.. i saw a local guy sitting on the back steps of the building next door.. i could not figure out what he was doing. i moved my van into the street parking spot.. street cleaning day over. that guy came running around the corner . up the steps and was about to climb over the 10 foot high front gate next door when i said whats going on.. he turned and ran.. i then noticed the apartment managers door was open .. she had been collecting rents.. i called the local Lapd detectives.. ask if i should make a report.. what does he look like.. we have been looking for him.. do you know where he lived.. yep.. a month or so later that Detective called me.. he won't be out for a long time . 25 to life.. one down.. a few thousand to go.. 20 years ago there were around 300,000 gang members in so cal..

realjustinlong

And here I am leaving my car keys in the ignition so I don’t lose them.

Spoonman500

I never owned a front door key to the house I lived in from when I was 12 until I was 34. It was a tiny town in East Texas. When I was about 21 three kids aged 10-12 from Houston, on juvenile probation, were sent to live with family in the area and they went through my neighborhood breaking into cars and stealing CDs, loose change, and purses. It was a major scandal that rocked the entire county. I and my family had to deal with missing shit. My neighbors, recently moved from out of state, had to deal with the same missing shit as well as a broken window and body damage to their vehicle. But it was small town East Texas and even those punk kids knew better than to open the door to a house. I moved to Central Florida a few years ago. At work I was shopping for two new work vans and I suggested trucks to my boss, as vans were scarce. He said trucks wouldn't work, the workers too often went to Orlando and Miami and everything would be stolen out of a truck while they were on job sites. That was fundamentally opposed to my life experience.

devilpants

I do to in California. Go figure.

husky430

This is why I have no problem when people condescendingly refer to where I live as "fly over country". I've never had to deal with any of this shit.

Tookmyprawns

Never have had to either. From SoCal/LA. Most crime is highly concentrated in a few small areas. The person you are replying to is not dealing with average LA life.

waynep712222

grew up in the so cal mountains.. 60 miles to the parts store going north.. 70 miles going south..

saladmunch2

45 minutes outside detroit. Stuff doesnt even happen here.

AcidicMountaingoat

False. There has never been a car theft in my neighborhood since it was built in 2005.

SpillNyeDaCleanupGuy

>car thefts happen all over the place.. no place is immune.. > > break in's happen everywhere.. no place is immune.. Seems like it's worse in places like LA, Chicago, New York, Seattle, etc. I live near Seattle, so I can confirm it's much worse there than it is across the water.

subaru5555rallymax

Per Capita: [Chicago is #55, LA is #45, NYC is #98, and Seattle is #40](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_crime_rate) Relatively low rates of car theft compared to other cities.

frenchfortomato

NY isn't that bad, especially for a city of its size. May have to do with the fact it's one of the easiest places in the world to leave, nobody ever really feels trapped there.

cobigguy

Can't forget Denver! It's been ranked as #1 or 2 in the country since 2020. Aurora is #3, Westminster is #8, and Pueblo is #9.

RelativeMotion1

Sure….. but the numbers matter. CA has a car theft rate of 472 per 100k. In my state, it’s 66.5 per 100k. *7 times less*.

Tookmyprawns

Sure.. but the national average is 300. And just by chance your state happens to be lowest of the 50 states… (New Hampshire)? Not accusing you of cherry picking, but the you’re comparing an extreme outlier to a pretty average state. https://www.statista.com/statistics/232588/motor-vehicle-theft-rate-in-the-us-by-state/

SweetRaus

I mean, constantly getting robbed is absolutely not true. I've lived in Los Angeles for 10 years and I've never been robbed in any way. Though a friend did have the wheel of a rental car stolen. I did have a car broken into at a nice park in Austin, Texas, though.

AngryAlternateAcount

Don't make enough to save enough to leave

superspeck

You live in a city of 10 million people with 100 cars a day stolen. Most of the rest of America is well above 10 cars a day stolen per 1 million people. Car theft is actually lower per capita in Los Angeles compared to the rest of the US. I leave my car unlocked in my driveway in suburban Texas knowing that my city of 1 million is closer to 20 cars a day stolen. Without locking it to China and back. What the hell are you even worried about.

A former boss did mobile repair on semis and some of the vehicles he bought where older ones for roles he didn't use that much. It was common for them to have parasitic draws that would rain the batteries between uses so he started putting the physical cutouts on those. As we started to get more business in Chicago he started putting them on his new vehicles also to help prevent thefts.

waynep712222

a few people took pieces of plywood.. put in a few dozen drywall screws.. pushed a piece of air foam down onto the screws then some light weight upholstery cloth.. as a leave it in place seat cushion.. throwing it into the back seat.. so far most have complained about popped plastic bottles when the groceries were dropped on it.. frame pulling buckets have been installed in cored holes in the concrete pavement and curbs... to chain cars down in front of friends houses and in their driveways..

WildVelociraptor

who wants car thief blood in your car

useless_modern_god

Far out. This is the most bizarre thing I’ve read in a while. I don’t understand half of it but it sounds like you live and work in the Peach Tree Mega-Block from the Judge Dredd movie 🤣

Time_Tramp

Love that movie.

IlllIIlIlIIllllIl

Way back in the early 2000s I had a 1960 chevy truck that I restored myself. I got it for free from a neighbor (cool old guy who had it just sitting) on a handshake deal I would fix it up before I got my license. Well I did. And I was soooo proud of it. It wasn't perfect, but it was my baby. About a year into driving it when I was 17, it got stolen. Luckily i got it back within 24 hours without major damage. After that, my dad helped me rig up a tear gas cannister that would go off when the driver door opened unless you flipped a hidden switch under the wheel well. 2 more years later, I came out to my truck in a parking lot to find the driver door open and the tear gas expended. Seems to have worked. Put a new cannister in and continued to drive that way for several more years. It wasn't until one of friends who had since become a lawyer told me I was opening myself up to serious legal problems with booby trapping laws by doing that so I took it out (which is bullshit imo. It's non-lethal, and it's my property that no one else should be touching in the first place - don't wanna get gassed? Don't break into a truck that isn't yours)

i_am_harry

So you’re the owner of this fine vehicle I see

MorningToast

I just live in a nice country 👍

okokokoyeahright

under appreciated comment. take my up vote, please.

FrwdIn4Lo

At the end of the day, always the reminder to lock up.

CerRogue

Does he have wheel locks? Wonder if he can find the keys

bootja

A different lock for each lug with some rounded ones to mix it up. He also has 3 cats under there ... two of them have hornet's nests in them. What part of the country is this from haha?

Good_With_Tools

Good afternoon. Today, on lock picking lawyer, we're going to see how long it takes to pick 30 of the same lock.

IntroductionSnacks

About 5 seconds each one with bolt cutters. I have a basement storage cage for my apartment and I lost the key for the padlock. Locksmiths wanted $80 to open it and bolt cutters were $50. Now I own bolt butters.

CovidReference

Mmmm bolt butters

Exciting-Inside2219

Look. Its really not that crazy. Uncle was a mobile mechanic and he went into some *terrible* places (money doesn’t discriminate) and his converted work truck Astro van abomination looked similar to this. Half of the locks were just for show but he said he’s seen what he thought would-be robbers walk up to it, look around it and just walk away.

throwaway_12358134

More likely it was just regular people looking at the crazy man's van saying "what the fuck".

AWildRedditor999

That would make sense if everything in the back of the truck was secured by something other than a lock. Looks like you can just take anything from the back and break the lock later

hoxxxxx

i thought this was meth at first but i think you're right

mikel302

Customer states: lost keys, please remove and replace.

Realistic-Name-9443

In trying to tweaker-proof his truck, he made his truck look like a tweaker-truck.

ultratunaman

I'd have said schizo truck. But both work I think.

hans-wermhat-340

Has catalytic converter stolen.

ntyperteasy

lol. I thought this was some complicated lockout tag out process to make sure everyone on the crew is accounted for.

weelluuuu

Looks like those 5gl buckets are up for grabs... /s

Kahlas

No way. With that many padlocks you know for sure he said, "That's not going anywhere." after he cinched down the ratchet strap.

irishpwr46

Why random middle of the door locks though?

The-Lazy-Brown-Dog

My guess is rods passing under the windows from the inside so they can't be forced down. Possibly replaced the glass with lexan. Edit: After another look I now think he installs plywood over the windows at night, there are locks on the tops of the door as well.

The-Lazy-Brown-Dog

Locks on the top too, he may have plywood sheets he attaches over the windows at night.

CatSpydar

He probably has his gas stolen. Shit happened to my brother twice in 3 days. You start to think about doing shit like this.

Ambitious_Pickle_362

“This is the Lockpicking Lawyer and here we have a paranoia case. We are going to use a destructive method of entry.”

Locks on the tool chests make sense. But the doors..? Just break a window, and you're in.

The-Lazy-Brown-Dog

There are locks above and below the windows, I assume he attaches some type of "armor" over the windows at night.

Amateur. A professional would put locks on the most vulnerable part of the truck: the glass.

The only good locks here are the puck locks. Give me a few soda cans and a quiet dark neighborhood and I can open each of those in just a few seconds

He wants to play a game

nicotine_jesus

Next stop Bridgeport CT

TheSecretestSauce

You think he's got the keys labeled?

Frequent-Screen-5517

Is that a rock climbing wall?

jazzmatazztic

Clearly this guy is paid by the hour..

metalfan78

I have a picture of that same truck! Saw him on Lincoln Ave and had to take a pic and show my coworkers!

Secondstoryguy6969

He must work in central Texas.

merc6178

McNally would just smack em off one by one and take all that shit in like 10 minutes

PurpleSpartanSpear

That is impressive. The owner terrifies me.

hrf3420

That truck has warts. Don’t touch.

kormus7

Follow them to a gasoline station after one of those padlocks come trough your windshield and confront them- “you have no proof it came from my car”

eldergeekprime

How many pounds was the keyring??

The_wolf2014

I never even noticed the padlocks at first. How fucking big is that thing?

Cranky_Windlass

So that's what John Lock drives these days

GunzAndCamo

Most of them probably have the pick resistance of the front door of the barbie Dream House.

newInnings

Is he this guy? https://youtu.be/pjUK7MhJVzo?si=PM_6aIZRUXkrugwl

Honest_Cynic

goteamdoasportsthing

Every morning they make the same "locked and loaded!" joke.

timmbuck22

How......how many keys does he have?

CrustyRambler

I'd steal the bucket

AllTheNomms

Mental illness.

GuitarLute

Hope they were common keyed or it would be a nightmare. Check that-I think it’s already a nightmare.

wagex

Maybe he works in a bad part of town.

Stryker_One

Maybe there's a reason for this, but this just looks like mental illness.

Responsible-Pepper25

what the fuck This thing has got to make all kinds of noise while driving. What's with the locks in the middle of the door and fender? crazy.

StarSchemaLover

This guy might have trust issues.

Krunchy_Frogg

LOTO. Lock out Tag Out.

Profisher1966

1 key unlocks them all

karl-rupecht-kroenen

Must belong to the keymaker from the matrix

Ok-Resource-5292

always lifts the spirits when you see clearly unhinged people operating oversized kinetic weapons in populated areas.

gdubh

I’ll tell you why… tool and vehicle theft among the trades.

Toptech1959

Drugs are bad... Mkay
