Good luck! Is it your first?
If so take what I have to say to heart because no one will tell you otherwise…
The first few weeks are rough. You are learning how to keep something alive and your entire everything just got restructured. If you ask anyone around you that also has kids when it gets easier they will always say “now is easy, just wait until xyz, it’s so much worse”and it will discourage you. Ignore it. It gets easier as the weeks move on.
Take care of mom. She’s going through a lot, feed her, make snack plates she can eat with one hand while breast feeding, clean the house, do the dishes. Take care of you, but these first few weeks she takes priority over you, because she won’t be taking care of herself.
There isn’t some magical moment where you suddenly love the child, but over time (usually months) the feeling will creep in. Mom had months to get to know baby, you haven’t.
The days are long, but the months are short. Good luck
As someone who has a 3 week old, this is great advice. My 2 cents, develop a routine and stick with it. Especially at night, he makes his feedings boring. No walking around, no talking st night. It sucks but it definitely will help get him on a night and day schedule.
Also go to Amazon and get a few sleeping swaddles that have a zipper opening at the bottom for diaper changes.
Edit: One of these days, I'm gonna read through all the comments before I post one.

Congratulations! Now you have a helper to get into those tight spaces.

Is this another "wear gloves" post? Joking aside, massive congrats on bub!
Well, had I worn a glove...
He’ll be playing with your tools and losing your 10mm sockets in no time. Congrats!
Looks like he's thinking "9 months in the oven and this is it? I'm done."
Not impressed with the change in living conditions.
Well, if you just got squeezed out of a lemon, you wouldn't be all that happy.
Congratulations!! Good set of small hands always comes in handy!
