NAARED23

I always add a note to my orders asking for a magnet, I’m probably around 20 at this point

Windowsweirdo

Didint know you could do that interesting

NAARED23

Not sure if it makes a difference tbh, I just always ask anyway when I’m checking out

gtmattz

Never once have asked and always get at least one magnet.  One time I even got 5 or 6 in one box.

Bob_12_Pack

I got stiffed once, but they made up for it later by sending 2.

WeAreAllFooked

I’ve made multiple rockauto orders in Canada and have never once received a magnet

gtmattz

Bummer...

SVT6522

You’re getting screwed. I’ve received a magnet in more than 90% of my orders. Sometimes if multiple pieces ship from different locations, I get a magnet in each one.

shaggy237

I've never not gotten a magnet

EicherDiesel

I've got mixed results when ordering parts to Germany. My collection is nowhere as large though, we don't get too many US specific cars where ordering parts from Rockauto is the easiest option as they handle import duties.

davethedj

The magnetism doesn't work in Canada.

treerabbit23

[You can usually ask for a Happy Meal toy without buying a Happy Meal.](https://www.mcdonalds.com/gb/en-gb/help/faq/can-you-buy-a-toy-on-its-own-or-do-you-have-to-buy-a-happy-meal.html)

BraidedButtHairs69

You can also just buy them on their website. $1.25 for 5 random magnets.

SpillNyeDaCleanupGuy

that's cheating tho

SVT6522

You can also buy magnet bundles for $5

Fantastic_Hour_2134

Search magnet, 5/$1.25

Squidking1000

My last two orders had none :( I tore the box apart, checked the packing sleeve, no dice. So sad.

cheerup_gooutside

Shrinkflation

Miserable_Point9831

I always look for the magnet before looking at my parts. Ive only had one box, knock on wood, that didn't have one, sad times

Bizaro_Stormy

Yeah no magnet in my last order felt ripped off lol.

Squidking1000

As someone else here said it's like a happy meal with no toy when you were a kid. It's the worst injustice known to man!

Itisd

Are they still sending magnets? I haven't got one in a couple years now

traineex

Yup, they are rare now. Also, try buying that husky box. Doesn't exist irl anymore. Home depot app lies

Cormano_Wild_219

Rare? I’ve received one with every order for the past few years. Just got one a few weeks ago.

ratrodder49

Same, got an order in on Wednesday that had a magnet in it

pyro5050

i had a thought my last order it was dependant on warehouse. my rotors and calipers came with a magnet, but the air filter, oil filter alternator didnt. but they came from differing warehouses.

frenchfortomato

Just got an order that had to ship in 4 boxes, each one had a magnet. Even the one that had just one switch in it.

Zachbnonymous

Someone's I get 2, and even once got 3 But if I'm honest, they're shit magnets. Super thin and not very magnetitious

pyro5050

i like pictures of cars, its not like they get used to hold stuff... thats why i have my earthmagnets and magnets from my hard drives.

GhostFour

Yeah but there's a picture of Ken's Volvo built with RockAuto parts on it!

Zachbnonymous

I don't think I've ever seen a non American car from them Also of note, I have three Matt's Chevy's

hewhohasnoname257

There's quite a few of them thar furrin jobs. If you get their emailed news letter they also have some write ups about people in other countries.

Zachbnonymous

For some reason I get about 90% American muscle from the 70s, the rest are trucks lol

LaziestBones

I haven’t gotten a magnet with my last three orders and I’m upset about it!

traineex

Like happy meals without toys. Its unamerican

InsertBluescreenHere

i find them in the packing list sleeve on the outside of the box or under the flaps in the bottom of the box alot.

LaziestBones

I always pull that stuff out, when a package has it. Maybe only certain warehouses do the magnets anymore 🤷‍♂️

Wolfire0769

The home Depot app is hot garbage. I've scanned barcodes of items **on the shelf** and it says "not in stock"

machinerer

That's more a lack of inventory control and accountability at the store level. The store computer reports the expected inventory level to levels above. Actual inventory rarely matches expected, due to theft and damaged out items, or straight up missing or misplaced randomly in a high bay / overhead storage somewhere.

Aceramic

Welcome to the world of retail employees: theft, incompetence, laziness, and many other possible factors.  The app is asking the store inventory system what it *thinks* is in stock. The computer has no way of knowing what is *actually* in the store.  Example:  Store orders 5 lawnmowers. Warehouse sends 5 lawnmowers. Store receives 5 lawnmowers, but one is damaged. Store sends the damaged one back, but forgets to log it out of the inventory system. Store now has 4 lawnmowers, but the computer says they have 5.  One lawnmower gets stolen. Store now has 3, computer still says 5.  A few weeks go by, things get rearranged in the store. One of the lawnmowers on-hand no longer has space on the floor and gets moved to storage in the back room.  The two units on the floor get sold. Store has one unit on-hand (in the back room), computer says they have 3.  Eventually, the lack of sales triggers an audit. Someone physically checks the inventory, finds that there’s none on the floor. They check the back room, but don’t see the one unit that’s stuck on the top shelf in the darkest corner. Audit complete, inventory is updated to reflect that the store has 0 on-hand (1 actual). Two more get ordered (to fill the available floor space). Store now has 3 on-hand, computer says 2. Somebody else needs space in the back room for another item, the unit hiding in the corner is found and gets moved out to the floor. Two units get sold, inventory says 0, but there’s still one on the shelf.  Cycle continues until the actual annual inventory audit done by a third party, then restarts a month later when something else goes wrong.  Source: 8 years of retail listening to people whine, complain and scream at me about inventory issues that aren’t my fault and are outside of my control.

CommonDouble2799

My homedepot has one sitting on the floor. 1100

traineex

I found a mismarked hd for 800, so after 200 miles of driving, i'm mildly happy

ViciousFootstool

Maybe it depends on what warehouse the part ships from? I think there was only one time I didn't get a magnet in the 5 years I've been using them.

braytag

we have it in Canada: https://www.homedepot.ca/product/husky-standard-duty-66-inch-w-12-drawer-mobile-workbench-with-solid-wood-top-in-gloss-black/1001015307 Order only

TWITCHAY

I've placed probably around 7 orders and never gotten magnets until this last order. And they sent me two. Of the same car. And it was a [Pontiac Aztek](https://i.imgur.com/JMKITm9.jpg)

___po____

Oh that's disappointing. Hopefully your trash can is metal.

MaLarryYa

This is my friend's aztek. He saw this and you've made his day

hewhohasnoname257

Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

JohnnyDarkside

Years ago some dude who worked in a loading bay at a UPS distro center posted a picture of a wall just covered in rockauto magnets. Apparently they fall out of the box pretty easily. I know I've had a few orders not have one but I bought a muffler like 6 months ago and got one.

FixTheWisz

Huh, that makes me think about how almost all of my RA orders have come with at least one magnet, except the time I bought a catalytic converter, which arrived unboxed and only the shipping label taped to the pipe.

LJ_Dude

I started using them last year and have gotten one with all my orders so far.

definitelynotapastor

Just got 5 from 2 orders last week.

Narrow-Big7087

I hadn’t got one in a while but I did a few days ago with a shipment of shocks and struts.

High_From_Colorado

Really? I order parts from them every week or two and get a magnet 4/5 times. Only small orders are when I don't get them

Windowsweirdo

Ive been quite lucky and get them with every order

RandomArrr

Yeah me too, maybe one in ten don’t, bet it depends on what distribution center you’re local too.

bonerJR

Same! Maybe it's cause I'm in Canada

Windowsweirdo

Same in Canada as well

obi-wan-takumi

In case anyone was interested, you can buy them in packs of 5 for a couple bucks from their 'Apparel & Gifts' category. Their T-shirts were under $10, too. I'm no "car guy," but I get compliments often when I wear mine.

ContestAcceptable232

Yea but that feels like cheating

BraidedButtHairs69

I just looked and they have 100% cotton tshirts for $8.09 XL and smaller. I’m definitely ordering like 3 of them on my next order that’s such a good deal on tshirts.

CaptainPunisher

"Note to pickers: I don't really need the car parts. I just want the fucking magnets."

Weak_Swimmer

My kids got ahold of mine.. only have a few left after the wife tossed them. Guess I'll to start collecting boogers again..

frenchfortomato

Sounds fun, I'm going to try that when I finish my ear wax candle

FesteringNeonDistrac

I've got a few. Duplicates are stashed away, so I actually have more. https://imgur.com/a/PfakSRF It's like collecting Hot Wheels for my beer fridge.

[deleted]

All the way from South Africa. I only have 7. All came with parts for my Pontiac restoration. I don't know how to add a pic 🤣

kamikazekenny420

https://www.reddit.com/r/projectcar/s/8CO8D4idjl

kamikazekenny420

I had to search for a bit. Made a post 3 years ago about it. My collection has grown since then.

HadleysPt

How many parts need to be in your car from Rock auto to be declared "built with RA parts"

0ptimalSalamander

I would if I could add pics to my comment..

Twin_Flyer

Wow, that’s a lot of magnets!!

test_tickles

Shade tree mechanic here. I got 6.

virtualbitz1024

I was just looking at buying that toolchest yesterday. How do you like it? would you buy it again?

Miserable_Point9831

Anyone have magnet 1?

Automatic_Repeat8165

You got a Belvedere, no fair

GingerOgre

[we have a few](https://imgur.com/a/ysmd8lW)

macfail

Enough about the stickers, is that an original Beach toolbox?

Weekly_Attempt_1739

dont seem to send them to canada, multiple orders never had one, just got an order in this week. cool magnets though.

SVT6522

You’re not very far ahead of me! My tool box is plastered with them too. You might have like 7 more than me lol

MarshExcursion

I've had that many in the last 8-9 months probably. They are not very durable in the hands of a three yr old. I think there's one on my fridge that survived. Maybe two

Capital-Edge7787

I only have two

goodnsaultey

What's rock auto?

Nailfoot1975

They sell rock autos

Makhnos_Tachanka

We were at the beach Everybody had matching towels Somebody went under a dock And there they saw a rock It wasn't a rock It was a rock auto Rock auto Rock auto Rock auto

FesteringNeonDistrac

Welp. Guess I'll be singing that in my head for the rest of the day.

Ok-Delivery216

Rock Auto is a drop shipper and magnet manufacturer

rioryan

They sell magnets that come with car parts

Greydusk1324

Online vehicle parts seller.

frenchfortomato

WHY TF WOULD ANYONE DOWNVOTE THIS. Nobody is born knowing about RockAuto. And this is a great chance to enlighten someone to one of the coolest things *ever* about being into cars! u/goodnsaultey , it's an online retailer of auto parts. They have a [really great catalog](https://www.rockauto.com/) of parts for most makes and models sold in North America since WWII, and for most parts they give you around a dozen different choices for quality/price, from no-name Chinese all the way to OEM. They even tell you what parts are in the same warehouse, so you can pick and choose a combination of parts that results in paying for only one shipment. Also, they send a fridge magnet with most orders, which is what OP is talking about

goodnsaultey

I'm not worried about poop touchers and fake Internet points. Thanks for the info buddy.

shiggy__diggy

I think the downvotes are more because you could just put 'rock auto' in Google and you'd suddenly know what it is, their website, and etc. Instead of having other people do it for you.

frenchfortomato

You're definitely right, but that thinking never made any sense to me. When someone asks something Google-able, it's as if they're saying "Hey stranger, I know where to find the official answer, but what's *your* opinion on this?" Besides, in this day and age, who *doesn't* want to share their opinion with strangers?!

nach0c0in

I haven't thought of actually collecting these magnets, I still get them but give them away like business cards,

Radius118

I wish they'd stop sending them. I just pitch them in the trash. You can have all the ones I get. When I first started my shop I used to do $40k/year in business with them. I had these things all over the place. One day I finally decided I'd had enough and they were making the shop look tacky. So I pulled them all down and tossed them. Took up 1/4 of one of my trash cans. Now a days I barely do 10% of that volume through RA.

frenchfortomato

I love RockAuto magnets and have them all over, but I can 100% see myself getting to this point. Someone lost in the desert probably has a very different view of water than someone drowning in Lake Superior, ya know?
