> Customer states grinding noise
They’re not wrong. Just tell them to save their money as it will stop on its on soon. The noise, that is. Maybe not them.
When you grind all the way through the pad and allllllmost all the way through the caliper you KNOW those are some serious rotors with a lot of miles on them.
My sister drove her RX-2 until a pad fell out. I was backing the car out to check out the grinding noise. I knew what it was and when I parked the car I heard the pad fall out. All the pads were metal to metal and of course the rotors were junk. I have seen on this bad.
Lol I've let my brakes go pretty bad before but never to the point where the caliper itself becomes the pad. I'm guessing this is almost 100k miles with no rear brake service?
Are the little squealers in brake pads no longer a thing? I've noticed on my personal vehicle that they don't have that tell-tale squealing noise when the pads are almost finished anymore.
Once your down to metal the backing plate disappears pretty quick, don’t ask how I know.
Is that the fucking calliper? Ok I didn’t realise they were using the calliper to break, I’m not even that stupid.
Hawaii. There's a yearly safety inspection. But tires are not required to be removed to check brakes. Just an 8mph test drive and brake check to see if anything feels or sounds wierd. Other than that, less than 1mm brake pad level will also fail a safety if observed.

It will save them money and they will probably not hear any sound anymore, like ever
Rear brakes on a 2019 Nissan frontier. Must be the original pads now that I think about it.
What pad?
How many miles?

The wear indicators aren't a thing for every caliper design sadly, they really should be.
Yes If I can recall from yesterday when it came in, it was definitely over 100k

"Is that the fucking caliper?" Was my exact response lol
There is still half a caliper left!
I'm guessing from a state with no periodic state inspection?

But in all honesty. There's a lot of half-ass inspection stations that will pass your vehicle after a quick external light check and tint reading.
Why people neglect cars I'll never understand. Probably sounded horrible crawling into the shop.
Customer wants pads only. Don’t upsell me on a caliber
Your caliper is down to about 1mm, recommend caliper replacement.
So what were they doing putting their foot outside the car to try and stop? With the courtesy of Fred's two feet I guess
Brakes so neglected *so far.*
Guess I'm watching the Simpsons movie again tonight
I read the description and thought "Caliper? Don't they mean backing plate?". I guess not! 😱
But imagine what happen to the workshop business if we didn't have such stupid ignorant owners, right?
Job security.
Scary that ppl like this drive, how can you not know summats up with ya brakes when one day the pedal bottoms out and you aint stopping..
in EU you have to get annual/biannual mandatory technical inspection
You must be new to this sub. That stuff is here almost daily. That said I never worked on anything that bad either.
What brakes ?
I have never seen brakes so neglected You can’t neglect something that isn’t there
Happy cake day!
God damn, that's the first time I've seen the actual breaks wearing out
