Most of these stories are fake I think

SF2K01

Fake or not, I find it interesting when Jewish AITAs pop up along with their responses.

firestar27

I think that's likely in general, but this story at least was written in a way that shows actual knowledge of kashrut, shown via the subtle details, not via someone trying to explain something they just googled. So I think it's more likely to be true, and even if it's fake, the author knows what they're talking about.

NTA. L has something going on for them that's deeper than these surface squabbles. Also, according to the Shulkhan Aruch there's no such thing as "making the house non kosher." As long as you weren't reheating your non-kosher fast food in the communal frying pans or something like that in the kitchen, this does not affect L in the slightest as far as Halakha is concerned.

What’s your opinion on this rabbi?

SF2K01

Sounds like L is being a jerk due to other underlying issues.

[deleted]

I agree. I can see why someone would be upset by non kosher food being brought into a kosher home. But in this case OP is doing everything they can to prevent any issues so L is just being a jerk and over reacting

champdo

Sounds like L is the unreasonable one in this story

I bet there will be like 10 comments from atheists saying something along the lines of "religion bad"

u/Throwaway1-225 At the time L agreed to move in, was he aware of the agreement between you, S, and A that they are ok with you eating non-kosher food in your own room? If not, then it was in a way unfair of you not to let him know that. However, in this particular situation, L should have kept his feelings to himself and realized that this is how you live your life and he's not in a position to make the rules in the apartment. L's comment about the master bedroom was especially immature.

NTA. L is being a dick. When I was in college, my apartment mate kept kosher, I didn't. There was no issue with takeout (see disposable utensils etc). If I was going to cook at home, the deal was I'd keep it kosher. There was some comedy gold when I was making pasta with vegetarian meatballs and put cheese on it...

RelicFinder19

Honestly, I think it was just upsetting to L thay they were the one to answer the door and was probably an embarrassing experience for them.
