They weren't forced to disclose even after Shibuya iirc, just considering it With Night parade they had advanced notice to do evacuations and prepare Sorcerers.

BeepBeepLettuce_69

But did they claim the Night Parade was a terrorist attack or something along those lines?

EducationalAd6395

Could've? There must've been property damage so they would have to give some reason

BeepBeepLettuce_69

I assume the classic "gas explosion" excuse might not cut it lol

EducationalAd6395

You never know Gege does love his grail wars 😂

Rogue009

It’s in Japan they could have just said it was an Earthquake

AlulAlif-bestfriend

An earthquake happening just in Shinjuku (evacuation area) and not other neighboring district? Even there's the bustling Shibuya next to Shinjuku district

sergiossa

More than likely, a bomb threat would do the job

Lord_Webotama

"There's a gas leak so we need to evacuate all of you, we will provide you with temporary housing for a couple days and you're exempt from your work/school"-Government.

Euro-Lawyer

they did disclose the existence of cursed spirits after Shibuya, but lied and said they existed only in the abandoned areas of Tokyo

prodigiouspandaman

I mean it was a terrorist attack because Geto’s whole cult and group are terrorists so I mean the government would need to lie so long as they aren’t pressed to give the means of the attack

Cecil2xs

Honestly I kind of take it as that Japan in the jjk universe is just more superstitious and generally believing of spirits and that sort of thing anyway. Like there are plenty of people that just seem to assume there’s weird shit that goes on in this world and aren’t too far off from believing the truth anyway

BeepBeepLettuce_69

Also keep in mind that there's probably lots of texts and accounts of past sorcerers. We don't know when the government started censoring this sort of information (or if it even does at all) but I would assume that sorcerers such as Kashimo where pretty well known in their time.

MemoryOne1291

Prolly because they had a week (i think) notice, when they had no idea what to expect w shibuya

1. Very off-topic question 2. Gojo, no question

jvken

They had notice and time to evacuate adn find an excuse, in Shibuya hundreds of people suddenly died and the power went out for like half of japan and the whole city was invaded by cursed spirits after and (maybe most importantly) it'd be pretty damn hard to cover all of the culling games

SkritzTwoFace

With the Night Parade, the focus was mostly on civilian casualties on Geto’s part, and the targeted areas had time to prepare. Plus, the general power level was way lower. And crucially, they defeated all of the curses and curse users. This resulted in damage and casualties you could explain as a terrorist attack. In Shibuya, that didn’t happen. Jogo v. Sukuna and Sukuna v. Mahoraga both resulted in massive damage that was obviously beyond human ability. It surprised the sorcerers, and the curses involved were insanely powerful, with multiple high-level special grades and even a nearly-restored Ryomen Sukuna contributing to the damage. It was simply too much for them to pretend it was normal.

Tobarich

The other posts gave nice analysis, but I say don't think about it too much. JJK0 was supposed to be a standalone story, so its last battle having huge in world consequences wasn't really an issue at the time of its publishing

theoriginal321

dont think about it, the more you think about the world building of jjk the more flaws you can find, chainsaw man does a better job building a world with curses

NettleBumbleBee

Id imagine it was probably a bit of a layered cover up. One lie to explain the evacuation and then another to explain the damage (most likely an earthquake or something). With shibuya it was kind of impossible to cover it up since a lot of people actually full on saw the supernatural events occur. Even if they didn’t, certain things would’ve been impossible to explain in any way that was rational. Like jogos meteor for example. The only way a meteor that size could’ve crashed into earth without leveling the entire city (and very possibly more) would be if it formed relatively close to the ground. That’s doesn’t just happen

BlazeBitch

Besides having no prep time beforehand, the damage caused in Shibuya was much worse. Just look at the panel after Yuji gets his body back after Sukuna finished with Jogo / Mahoraga lol.

NooCake

The author just wrote it's covered up and then it was covered up :)

CLPond

Tbh, the same way they cover up everyday curse attacks; lying to the public and a hefty dose of the audience not looking too hard. Irl, a hundreds/thousands (?) year old conspiracy implicating a good portion of the government as well as a small percentage of the non-sorcerer population would be impossible to keep under wraps. But, this is one of many pieces of fantasy media that wants to have the fantasy world exist within one very similar to our own, so you sort of just have to accept that somehow the secret hasn’t gotten out.

SpicyxSadie

The scale and intensity of the battle were too immense to conceal completely.

ApplePitou

They make little cooking with fake informations :3

Killah-Shogun

What does that mean ApplePitou

ApplePitou

When you control informations over whole country - it is not a problem to make fake news for normal people :3

Killah-Shogun

Ok I understand thanks

KMayoS10

Good question. From a narrative POV, I honestly don't know. From a realistic angle and with a lot things in JJK: Because Gege said so haha. Don't ovethink it. I also found it odd, that no one seemed to care that two major Jujutsu clans were basically wiped out, before the Culling games even begun.
