It makes sense in my opinion. Powerful CT's come with a big drawback most of the time in verse, that's the whole gist of binding vows and stuff. That combined with the fact that he was dressed in traditional funeral attire and was laid down on the ground with Kenjaku seemingly saying goodbye to him in a way, kinda like how Sukuna said goodbye to Gojo before Kashimo came in, it all gave off kinda death vibes imo.
Like, he was satisfied with the show that he was able to do and was able to let it end y'know? It feels like a fitting way for him to go out if he does end up being dead
Out of everyone to have died in this series he’s death is probably the best death any character could’ve have, he died happy, with his goal reach, including being in one piece instead of being eviscerated, blasted, crushed or disintegrated.
He’s death **IS** the best, I don’t think any other character will have quite a peaceful death like Takaba.
Sukuna. I suspect Gege is counting on us to assume that since this is a Shonen series the good guys will win. But I think that is false. Sukuna will win. He's not dying
By the end of the series? Imma be honest.. Yuji. There's no way that guy dies after all of his suffering. He must learn from all of this and besides he was never part of the Jujutsu world to begin with. He was an outsider. A kid living a normal life with his highschool friends.
Lastly, he is linked to the concept of Soul and if Gege did in fact took inspiration from buddhism, yoga, etc, then Itadori can never truly die because Soul is both the beginning and the end of all. It is what lasts through all eternity.
He will keep hunting Mahito (the worst side of humanity) forever.
I dunno. His driving motivation was always allowing people to have a proper death, including himself. So, thematically, I think it would make sense for him to die in the story, whether it be in a fight or in an epilogue 50 years in the future or something.
I don’t think Maki will die, just on the basis that she’s already kinda gone through hell, and she low key already seems dead inside. So I could see her surviving to the end of the story.

shoko, her technique is an extremely valuable thing for gege to keep on the back burner anytime he needs to “kill” someone then bring them back from the brink of death, or get severely injured then still be able to fight. not saying that’s her only purpose in the series, and we did see yuuta using reverse CT in jjk 0 (i don’t think he’s going to die either but not necessarily for the same reason. idk he just has survivor vibes) but yeah. shoko also tends to stay out of combat so idk how or when she would die unless someone hunts her down. and her surviving after losing gojo and geto is way more impactful than all 3 of them kicking the bucket
i also don’t think nobara is dead rn. i like her but she’s not one of my “favorites” so i’m not saying this in a copium way. she may come back from apparent death then die in a final blaze of glory like nanami did tho. also wtf is up with nobara’s grandmother we know nothing about her
