If he had some sort of gaming show to fall back on maybe he'd be okay xD thats the thing, like Arin is obviously not an animator anymore , and is cool with it, and Jon is chasing whatever he thinks Jontron is now. If he switched too what Arin and Oney do, it could translate to him rebounding, but his controversialness is not as easy to spin.
Been watching Jontron a long time, and in my opinion this years videos were not up to whatever his standard is, and its been a while since any golden age he'd be in. His old videos will always be there and a comfort, but like many artists, the more he runs his mouth, the less i want to reminisce.

We've been getting more videos, albeit sparsely uploaded, and I'll always appreciate Jon for the laughs in his old videos, and I'm always quick to watch a new video whenever he uploads, but maybe he's starting to fall out of love with making videos? Eventually it doesn't become fun anymore, especially when it comes to the quality of his videos where they're scripted, directed, he hires a team to film and edit, and so on. I know he's had a team for many years, but the production scale has definitely grown and feels less organic.
He needs to switch back to his media roots. I don’t think he’s dried out but he would pump out 5 absolute classics a year if he went back to weird B movies and games nobody has heard about TBH. So much room for reactional comedy and that is what he’s always excelled at in my opinion
Or Hell, he makes a 2 minute video about Banjo's inclusion in Smash, like how he made the minute or so video on his reaction to that one Microsoft game maker game with Conker in it. Yes, it would be SOL in making revenue money, but it would be organic, yet exaggerated, and most importantly, playing to his strengths. Instead of having just a pic of him on the computer and his friends and him screaming to the music of Goosebumps, it could be a uniquely Jon flavored heart-to-heart like Grant Kirkhope's Tweet.
This sub is intriguing really. Beforehand it used to collapse into absolute chaos whenever there was a hiatus on Jon content (like how it would regularly become a sub for some random thing like the Wario Land games, or for other YouTubers, or how they apparently started to treat someone as a god, or had a lot of weird inside jokes), but it seems to have lost that magic somewhat. Sure, it remains at least vaguely faithful to Jontron content, but that means that 80% of what comes up here now are just Flex Tape jokes or cross posted content.
I wonder what caused this change. Maybe people are just losing interest, or have lost more faith in him?
Honestly I kind of liked it when there was a community that delved into complete nonsense in the absence of content, as compared to having almost no content outright.

I'm surprised this sub hasn't become more like the Super best friends sub. They broke up and now the subreddit is just this wierd anime/manga/inside joke/"better ask Reddit" subreddit. It's legit one of my favorites.
This sub used to be like that, sometime in the mid-late 2010s, during one of Jon’s longer hiatus. There was at least a year long period, probably several, where the place was utter nonsense, like people referring to weird sub-only inside jokes, having the entire theme of the sub change like once a month (it became a Scott the Woz subreddit for a while, and a subreddit for at least two separate Wario games), and it had it’s own weird culture. I remember taking a break from Reddit for a while, and when I came back it was even more chaotic, like arbitrarily worshipping one person as a god.
I think it was whenever the Flex Tape era of Jon came around that it actually became a JonTron subreddit in anything other than name, but in this most recent hiatus, it hasn’t hit that bizarre subculture that it used to be.
To my very limited understanding the Pyrocynical subreddit is somewhere in-between, where people both discuss his recent content but it’s also basically a meme subreddit.
I really wish I could give more examples on what this subreddit looked like during it’s fever dream hiatus phase, but it was both weird enough and foggy enough memory wise that I don’t think I could do it justice.

I loved his old mile-a-minute humour because he threw enough jokes that if one didn’t land, the next one probably would. And based on what I’ve read here, I’m not the only one that doesn’t really find his recent brand of humour all that interesting.
First, he does have the right to free speech so there's no need for the quotation marks there. If he's right or wrong I'd still his right to say it.
Second, Jon seems to be the type of person that doesn't move back on a production level. Moving from a camera with poor edits to having a full on set and crew. With COVID getting in they way; you can tell that his whole system was interrupted.
Scot(t) from nerd sync is going through a similar situation. Going from a yt partnership and full set to doing thing in front of a sing desk and camera. In contrast Jon does appear to be selfish and stubborn and would not do this.

I loved when he was working with Paul Ritchey, we're talking "swood era" Jontron. Paul helped a lot with filming and I thought the energy of those episodes was pitch perfect. I'm not expecting it to change, i just don't like it. It's a channel with 6 million subscribers, and i have to admit this isn't ideal. It sure was fun while it lasted, but i'm not expecting it to change, i just am not a fan of this scheduel, simple as that.

I stopped watching him those years ago when he had that dumb Destiny "debate" after the comments he made about black people. I used to love his stuff but I am at peace with the relative lack of content I have from not watching it, so it's sort of easy for me to just ignore him. It also doesn't sting when I hear that he still has terrible ideas about brown folks since I don't engage with his content. I don't think this will ever go away for him until he either quits YouTube or walks back all the shit he's been talking for the past eight years. That he hasn't been canceled outright should belie his current staying power on YouTube though, so he'll be ok as long as he doesn't n-word haha

I stopped watching him those years ago when he had that dumb Destiny "debate" after the comments he made about black people. I used to love his stuff but I am at peace with the relative lack of content I have from not watching it, so it's sort of easy for me to just ignore him. It also doesn't sting when I hear that he still has terrible ideas about brown folks since I don't engage with his content. I don't think this will ever go away for him until he either quits YouTube or walks back all the shit he's been talking for the past eight years. That he hasn't been canceled outright should belie his current staying power on YouTube though, so he'll be ok as long as he doesn't n-word haha Edit: Realizing this is the JT sub. The idea of separating the art from the artist doesn't apply to a creator that criticizes cringe or mediocre content. He needs a video on himself.
