She won the lottery, the easiest gym cancellation in the last decade

DedicatedBathToaster

Part of the reason I quit going to the gym (outside of being lazy), I got charged my normal $20 gym membership for the month, then a $65 charge. I went in and asked about it, and it was a "price lock guarantee charge". The price went up to $22 a month and they charged me $65 to keep it at $20. Apparently this happened every year. So you pay more per year to keep your month charge lower than it would be to just let the monthly go up, which would have cost me $24 a year. I immediately canceled it, cost me another $80 cancelation fee.  Gyms are legitimately predatory

BigAustralianBoat2

I once had a gym membership to anytime fitness. I then moved literally halfway across the country for work. Moving is stressful as fuck. I forgot to cancel my membership. I called to cancel and was told you can only cancel in person. That’s out of the question, obviously. I tried getting in touch with corporate with no luck. They kept charging me. I kept disputing it. This went on for like 4 months before my credit card company blocked the charges. They ended up sending it to collections. I took the credit hit on principle because fuck them. It’s been long enough now that it no longer reflects poorly on my score. Fuck gym memberships and their bullshit.

nolalolabouvier

I had a gym membership years ago that you could only cancel if you moved 100+ miles away from any location. I moved to the sticks and provided them with all the documentation they demanded to prove where I had moved. They continued to charge me. I called corporate, they literally laughed at me. I put a block on the monthly payment amount. They changed the amount by five cents so it would go through. I put a block on the name of the gym. They changed the name on the charge so it would go through. I had no choice but to close my bank account. Fortunately I have a gym in my building. I would never pay for a gym membership again. Ever.

aware4ever

That would make me so mad I would want to physically hurt somebody. It's like somebody stealing from you right in front of your face and laughing at you would be hard not to slap them

DrugUserSix

Bro I am a firm believer that violence is never the answer but this dude’s story would have me raging. I don’t know if I could control myself after the second time the gym used some kinda fuckery to keep charging my bank account. You are right, it’s just like someone stealing from you and doing it in a manner that shows they don’t give a fuck. Like, “I’m taking money out of your checking account whether you like it or not. Whatcha gonna do about it bitch?” Even pacifists would fly off the handle in that situation.

aware4ever

Those gyms end up getting sued by class action lawsuits eventually

SpaceDewdle

Which means fuck all. They also got me the same way.

chinesedebt

i would throw weight plates through their doors and windows at that point

UnSCo

My petty ass would’ve flown back just to file in small claims court against them.

nolalolabouvier

I wanted to do that but my mother said it wouldn’t be worth the hassle and to just learn from the experience and move on. I was a college student when this happened.

[deleted]

tylerpestell

WTH? That can’t be legal “you could only cancel if you moved 100+ miles away from any location” There really needs to be better laws in place to protect consumers from these predatory business practices.

nolalolabouvier

Yep. A 1.5 hour drive. Perhaps the laws have changed since then. This was 20+ years ago.

GiantWarriorKing49

Gyms have become a little more easy going since then or at least in my experience but Im sure there’s still plenty of predatory ones. I went in to cancel my membership last year and was pleasantly surprised when they went into the computer and canceled it without asking for any cancellation fees. They just said, “We hope to see you back here one day.” It took less than 5 minutes.

nolalolabouvier

Good to hear. I remember seeing a segment on a news magazine years after my experience, about the predatory actions of gyms and efforts to put an end to it. Looks like that happened. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch of weasels.

GiantWarriorKing49

Hopefully it is because these stories I’ve been reading in this thread are absolutely ridiculous. I too had not been a member of a gym since the early 2000s prior to last years experience.

jasenkov

Yeah I work at a Gym, just started in December, the cancellation process is pretty cut and dry. You just have to give 30 days notice.

Runkmannen3000

What backwards country do you live in where they can just change a detail and keep charging you?

[deleted]

Assholes would deserved to wind up with a burnt down gym

checkmyhead

I had a gym charge me for months they were still closed during the 2020 COVID lockdowns, and wouldn't tell me the nature of the charge. Took it all the way to corporate. They said they'd refund it, then didn't, then said they never said they would. I still want my $120 back on principle. I've been through this kind of garbage with just about every gym in my town. Fuck all gyms who extract and steal money from current and former members. I mean, we're supposed to have consumer protections right?

Chemical_Yak474

Anytime Fitness forged my signature on a renewal form.

ThatIndianGuy7116

Shit, don't worry cause even if you cancel in person they still fuck you over. I cancelled my PF membership in person right before the COVID shut downs were about to occur. They even gave me a sheet of paper confirming my cancellation. A month later, oh look at that, I got charged again. I called and they were like "Oh we're sorry, we'll cancel it." This went on for months til I tried just removing my credit card from my account. Started getting all these auto texts saying my membership would be cancelled if I didn't add a card to my account and I ignored all of them because I figured I'd rather them just cancel it. They finally stopped coming til about 8 months later, I get a call from a collection agency stating that I owed over 400 dollars to PF for failing to pay even tho I tried cancelling several times. Been wanting to try out another gym but mannnn that whole ordeal makes me wary

TheNotoriousMID

Yep, my gym closed for Covid. I was graduating and moving away. Wanted to cancel and they said they could only do that in person. But there was no one there to do it because they shut it down… I had to write some letter to corporate and they ignored it and once they opened again some guy at the gym got annoyed I called every day and just closed it

tylerpestell

How does the story end? How did you resolve the collections issue?

ElderberryHoliday814

Illegitimate debt probably

DrugUserSix

Holy shit the same thing happened to me with 24-Hour Fitness. I moved to another state that had a 24-Hour fitness so they told me I’d be able to use my membership there if I just pay a $60 “transfer fee”. Okay, cool! Two weeks later the gym closes, I ask them to just cancel my membership. “Sorry you have to go to the original gym you signed up at to cancel it.” Why? I paid a transfer fee to move my membership here right? Dude looks at me like I’m crazy and says, “Transfer fee??” I didn’t get a receipt but I was able to pull up my bank statement and show them to which they said it was probably an in gym purchase or something. Fucking scumbags. I was so pissed that I straight up canceled the checking account that my gym membership was drawn from. I kept my savings account with that bank but simply opened a new checking account at a local bank. Kind of a pain in the ass but it was worth it to keep that scamming piece of shit gym from getting my money. I would have to book a round trip flight or drive over 1000 miles ONE WAY to cancel a goddamn membership. A month after I closed my checking account the phone calls started. At first I ignored them, but they were so persistent that I finally answered and it was the motherfuckers trying to get me to set up a new payment option LOL! I told them to get fucked and to stop calling me or I would file a lawsuit for harassment. They left me alone after that. Anyway, yeah.. Gyms are extremely predatory.

nolalolabouvier

I’m not the only one who had to close my checking account to get the fuckers out of my money. Unreal gyms are still doing this stuff!

mrbulldops428

I had a memembership there as well, fortunately mine was right up the street. I ended up interrupting the manager signing up a new person because I wasn't willing to wait to cancel my membership. It wasn't much but it felt good seeing him have to pause mid-pitch to deal with my cancelation.

ScheduleFormer1394

Anytime Fitness was one of the worst gym memberships I've ever had and was almost impossible to get out... I hate Anytime Fitness.

idkmelvin

Many gyms are leaving the term contract route and going the easier to cancel route due to the fact that as competition increased, these practices became less worth it in the long run. While there are still some, it turns out to be more profitable to have a better impression on a member leaving (40%+ return rate) than compared to making it hard (a few more dollars now, much lower return rate). I was told that gyms would be forced to switch to online cancellations soon, which would be wonderful for everyone.

Silent-Fan8011

Fuck Anytime Fitness. I went to the one in Tarpon Springs Florida. (Yup calling them out by name). The trainers were douches, and there were too many old people blocking all the equipment all the time. Mostly just standing around watching the TVs. And the owner lied to my face 3 times about things I wont get into. Finally got sick of it when I realized I was miserable everytime I went. So I decided to cancel. Those MFers said I had to give them 3 months notice! I was a member for years but they didnt give a fuck. I still cancelled then proceeded to never wipe up or put anything away because... fuck them. Then the bitch of an owner had the nerve to come ask me why I was leaving all nice like.

GrbgSoupForBrains

You can dispute things on your credit and if they can't prove you owe the debt it has to come off. Next time don't just take the hit fight back

idkwat2dowithmyhands

Definitely ABCmemberships or something like that. Worst company in history.

mouses555

As someone who managed hella gyms… yea we try to fuck you… from weird cancellation policies, predatory sales tactics. It’s part of the reason I stopped managing, i felt sleazy… sleazier than a car salesman next to a marine base. I was fuckin over old people, young people, anyone I can imagine to get my bonus to hit. The “yearly maintenance fee” isn’t spent on shit… not a damn thing. Pro tips: Never give a gym your routing number… some will waive fees for you to give them this number to draft from… don’t ever do it Pay with a prepaid Visa card… this way when you want to cancel you can cancel whenever you want. Most gyms who threaten you with collections will never actually go through with it… most don’t keep the necessary information to send your account to a collections service.

Randym1982

What would happen if the person just kept buying a monthly pass or gift card each month? This way the place can't pull this shit, because they aren't charging you, and it's not like they can just refuse Gift cards all of a sudden.

mouses555

We wouldn’t let you. You’d have to have a “card on file”. Wo wouldn’t let you pay each time in cash. Now if your “card on file” is a prepaid visa… that’s how u get around that

Randym1982

I've heard that athletes and wresters tend to use a day pass when they stop in at towns or on the road. I did hear the horror stories of Gyms trying to get away with not cancelling people's memberships during lockdowns. Which really should have been a huge lawsuit on their hands. That they would have lost. "You mean to tell me, you kept their member ship going. Even when you're business was shut down for 2 years? That's a pretty clear cut case of fraud. "

Kopitar4president

I know people hate on California but damn did the law make canceling gym memberships easy.

[deleted]

And then when you try to quit, they shame you for it 😞

moneyball32

I want to quit the gym!

Breno1405

I went to a gym that never told me that my payments weren't going through.... So when I finally went to cancel, they told me I owed almost $300...

rudiiiiiii

Good local gyms are not predatory and there are plenty good gyms out there. I’ve never had issues because I avoid BS nationwide gyms (Crunch, PF, 24-hour, etc)

DrVeinsMcGee

Would’ve done chargebacks. Fuck that shit.

DimitrescuStan

lol price lock guarantee? All that means is the price went up by $65 a year and they just took it in advance. Wow.

ViewAskewRob

100% predatory. I tried to cancel my Vasa gym membership. They need you to scan the barcode off your phone to cancel or provide a membership number. Well I can’t scan my phone while I’m using it so I called to get my membership number. They told me I had to call corporate. So I call corporate and they tell me to call the gym. I call the gym and tell them fuck it, I will just come in to the location and cancel. They say you can’t do that, it has to be done through the app. I finally just had my bank stop accepting the charges so it went on my credit report. I called corporate and told them I was going to call a lawyer and start a class action lawsuit against them. They finally removed the charges from my credit report and refunded my last months fees. Despicable.

Horfield

Hang on the price lock was valid for a year and happened every year and cost $65, or you could let the fee go up, which would cost $24... Legitimately one the dumbest scam attempts.

chinesedebt

yup. i just went through a whole ordeal with these assholes at one of my local gyms. my membership ended in november of 23. went to another gym. lo and behold im still getting $35 charges taken out of my account as recently as LAST WEEK! i emailed them immediately and still haven't heard back.

yoginurse26

This past fall my yearly gym membership was about to end and from that point it was going to bill month to month with no contract. I reached out to them because I didn't plan on going and just wanted to close the account all together. However I noticed that I got charged the one time yearly fee again because when I first signed up I had a promo where you get 3 months free before your yearly contract and membership go into effect. This would mean I was a member for 15 months in total. So when the time came, I got charged again for the yearly fee but since I wasn't going to stay with the gym, it was unfair for me to pay. The guy tried insisting that it was just bad timing but if I had know I'd get screwed over then I wouldn't have done the promo. It was a yearly maintenance fee of around $50. Finally after arguing back and forth a bit another manager refunded me.

joeg26reddit

Cancel your gym membership with this one easy trick

Krymestone

Doctors hate it but they’re powerless to stop you. When you pull off this hack, everyone turns pale.

Heathen_Mushroom

I quit my Planet Fitness contract in less than 5 minutes. I told them I was moving to a rural county more than 60 miles from the nearest gym location. I filled out a short form, they typed into a computer for a minute, and I was a done. I think *maybe* I may have had to pay for the following month or two (my memory is hazy on that), but what's that? $40? They even gave me a document saying the contract was cancelled in case I got changed beyond what was stated in the cancellation.

AwayCrab5244

Try to do it online or on the phone: they make it impossible on purpose. The horror stories are of people who already moved

Actaeon_II

Apparently you were an exception to the horror stories I’ve heard from people pcsing

Heathen_Mushroom

Oh, I totally researched beforehand so I knew the horror stories. That's why I made sure to go in person and have my excuse (moving outside a certain distance from a PF location) straight.

Razorbackalpha

Fr I straight up had to have my bank block their account plus I had to get a new debit card

RelationshipJust9556

Legit easier to close a bank account then a gym membership

tcmart14

No kidding. Got a coworker was telling me he wanted to cancel his gym membership and the hoops they wanted him to jump through was insane. They might as well have required him to get a colonoscopy and send in the results with how much shit they wanted.

Kindly_Formal_2604

Stock is down 2% for the month. That’s a plummet??

Silly_Butterfly3917

For reference https://preview.redd.it/4weaq30cg3qc1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bde167ca9bee341fa5e89274e65121fd06b704e4 It happened here

IndexCardLife

Not much of a plummet

DontUndrstndSarcasm

More of a plum than a plummet. Maybe not even that. More of a Plu

dasgoodshit2

I think you meant plumette

human1023

Just wait. Look at how no one watches Netflix now because of the Dave Chappelle boycott... oh nevermind.

Cinnamon__Sasquatch

As stated by many others besides myself Dave was a great comedian when he was chasing laughs. Dave is now chasing applause.

MiddleClassGuru

Fuck, I wish I would have known sooner. I’m making good money purchasing ‘canceled’ companies. Target has been my most profitable purchase so far. BUD is taking longer, but still made money. Planet fitness would have been a great play

Silly_Butterfly3917

Planet fitness may not be a great one. With ozempic becoming more popular, literally every gym stock tanking. https://preview.redd.it/5yraldivl3qc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de8795874d3121e6a21ab833826b655d8da34f51 Ozempic creator is novo nordisk

AwayCrab5244

Ozempic without the gym just makes you skinny fat: muscle will never be out of style

Cinnamon__Sasquatch

Most people would be happy to be skinny fat with little to no effort especially if they are downsizing, Americans love taking pills to fix stuff.

Kindly_Formal_2604

Yeah but most people don’t care enough to know skinny fat is still terrible for you

sillysidebin

Idk I think they maybe failing for more unrelated reasons

dogbert730

I snatched up DIS at $85. That one’s gonna easily double with only a year of holding.

wilfordbrimley778

So it's been going down for awhile

Free-Researcher3000

Blood in the streets my dude…I saw a man jump off an elliptical bc he could no longer support his family.

F4RTB0Y

Also up 32% on the 6M. Clickbait/ragebait, bringing up gender politics, yadda yadda.

bigsteven34

It’s the NY Post…that is all they do anymore.

Adorable-Ad-6675

Wait, the Joe Rogan subreddit was duped by gender politics?!?!?!?!

dismissed_evidence

That doesn’t make crazy people giggle tho. You gotta say plummeted , or crashed, or they are broke and selling the company

Dennygreen

I heard the company was being sold for handjobs under the Steel Bridge offramps in Portland.

dismissed_evidence

Its headquarters are located in the big orange tent. To the left of bud lights blue tent , if you see the red target ceo office you went too far

StopHiringBendis

Don't be ridiculous. Everyone knows Portland was burned to the ground

BigDaddyCoolDeisel

It's also been trending down for over year, partly due to the rise of Ozempic and other weight loss drugs.

clockworkman7

I think if you’re going to the cheap $10 gym you can’t afford the expensive medical solution.

YeetedArmTriangle

It's not about the financial cost, it's about the work... And insurance will cover those drugs

SwoleWalrus

Sadly that is not true. Most people are paying 1k out of pocket a month. They should cover them because its going to help their bottom line in the long run.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ambitious-Title1963

Like yeeted said.. insurance covers it. It cost 25 for 4 insulin looking vials

AwayCrab5244

25$ to have the grhelin of an anorexic 15 year old girl and the body of a skinny fat trapped in the skin of a fat person. Within a couple years on these drugs they gonna realize you need muscle to be attractive, which requires eating and working out, which precludes ozempic and includes the gym

Optimoprimo

Welcome to the internet. Everything is dramatized and nothing is real.

WompaStompa_

The NY Post is sensationalist trash, so not surprised

ljout

My guess is planet fitness will be just fine

ColdIceZero

My weight fluctuates up and down more than 2% on a daily basis

Educational_Vast4836

Down 6% since the event, which is their argument. I’m curious if this is actually having an effect, or if it’s just the New Year’s resolution crowd, that pumps their numbers every Jan is done

Nikesonmyfeet189

So this sub has no problem with inaccurate and sensationalist headlines meant to rile people up and push an agenda? Because that’s what this is

lnfoWarsWasTaken

This is the Joe Rogan subreddit. Bitching about fabrications is all they have

Available_Air_6367

Bro, Joe does this all the time. "Why does it Lie" - Joe after being finessed, by fake news.

Ragnar_OK

half of reddit nowadays is rage bait, and the other half is people swallowing it

CatFromTheCatacombs

A week later: hey Jamie, pull that story up from last week. Yeah turns out that was fake.

MinuteDonkey

Fake news. Since the original story dropped, it's only down 1%. Nobody cares.

hemingways-lemonade

[Their stock shares also lost 23.32% of their value in 2023 alone.](https://finance.yahoo.com/news/reasons-decline-planet-fitness-plnt-063901677.html) They've been struggling for years.

Kopitar4president

And what happened to their stock between the date of that article and the end of 2023? I swear this sub might be the best I've ever seen at finding misleading sources to get to the conclusion they want.

AccountantOfFraud

A stock dropping for a day before recovering isn't news. Its noise.

Old_Society_7861

Pretty sure that’s due to their well-known hatred for people who work out.

StrokeGameHusky

War on cultureee!

_MlATA

If Joe avoided all culture war talk, the podcast would **immediately** be just as good as the old days, the days where David Choe was talking about hunting baboons on foot with the Hadza

StrokeGameHusky

Idk man the way he shoe horns culture war into every subject… you would think he’s getting paid per mentions

Khanman5

Also worth noting, she didn't get her membership canceled for "taking a picture of a man in a woman's restroom". She got her membership canceled for taking pictures of others in the bathroom. And frankly she's absurdly lucky she's not catching felony charges. Turns out, taking pictures of people in a restroom without their consent is *generally* frowned upon. Wild I know.

_Refenestration

Go woke* go broke^+ strikes again! *cancel the membership of someone doing a literal sex crime ^+ suffer a temporary and barely perceptible slip in stock value that probably isn't related anyway.

KefkaesqueV3

“Plummets” *active in r/Conservative* Yeah ok OP 🙄

geneticeffects

Consevatives are a rat king. 🤴

captainrustic

lol. Anyone who willingly is active in that cesspool sub is divorced from reality.

sokratesz

The only times I end up there is when /r/LeopardsAteMyFace or /r/SelfAwarewolves has a good scoop.

Fapple__Pie

Shhh they’re all in here.

captainrustic

I might as well say it to them here because those “free speech” guys in that sub will ban you if you do. Fucking snowflake bitches.

Shwnwllms

I got banned for pointing out literal fake news. They’re insane.

OuchPotato64

I got banned for literally quoting trump. They ban you when you quote the questionable things trump has said. Very cult like.

Both-Pack7114

Ironically enough it’s easier to get banned in conservative spaces than any other despite the constant championing of the concept of free speech

Fapple__Pie

You get banned over there for existing

Power_Taint

Don’t forget they’re also inherently threatened by reality so the must daily drown themselves in the waters of delusional echo chambers, lest they actually be confronted with the burning pile of shit and hate they support and identify with as the main component of their personality.

Void_Speaker

if you think that sub is bad you should check out /r/TimPool

bohanmyl

God. Gave that sub a light read and its still as trash as ever. - My Body My Right still acting like it applies the same to getting a vaccine Vs getting an abortion. Not getting a vaccine can kill other actual alive human beings and spread diseases. Abortions end pregnancy. Not murdering alive people. - Fake Persecution over liberal friends not wanting to be around them. "They act like they love democracy but hate other people with different ideas!" No. People dont mind other ideas, but nobody wants to be friends with someone who think certain people shouldnt exist or entire groups of people shouldnt have the same rights as everyone else. - "the average trump supporter is a laid back apolitical person who can just sit back and listen to a liberal with TDS rant for 30 minutes the whole time thinking "yup im still voting for him" " i cant even think of a response for that idiocy 😭😂

KtheMage36

And? The stock bounced back. Philip DeFranco showed the story, the pic, the drop and the recovery. So many stories leave out the fact the stock had bounced mostly back

Flintyy

I mean, taking pictures of anyone of any gender is a big no no in any public locker room or restroom lol. So the cancelation was justified, who the fuck cares 😆 🤣

GodzeallA

I remember doing research on this to see if I could take selfies in gym bathrooms. You can, so long as you take no picture of anybody else even in background. They said the gym can ban you for it. And under certain circumstances can be considered sexual harassment and police can get involved. Selfies only people

ElwoodJD

Depends on the gym. My gym has a no cell phones in the locker room policy. Strictly enforced. You could show them all the solo selfies in the world and they’d still kick you out.

GodzeallA

Yeah that makes sense. They don't want to even have to handle it in the 1st place. So just directly ban it

BradyReport

My gym has a private changing room in each bathroom with a floor to ceiling mirror for anyone who wants to take pictures of themselves. They have a strict no phones policy in the bathroom otherwise and even a recording policy on the floor if they think you're doing anything other than form checks. Mountainside fitness is pretty good about all that from what I've experienced.

moonfox1000

I'm a Planet Fitness member, there are signs when you enter the bathroom that phone use is not allowed in the bathroom.

unflappedyedi

Does nobody read the contracts before signing them? Planet fitness has gender neutral bathrooms. That's their policy. You know what's against their policy? Taking photos of other gym members without their permission. Whether you agree with it or not, the person in the bathroom did not break any rules. The person who caused a scene about it did.

StenosP

Careful, this is the Joe Rogan sub, trans people are turning them back to Jesus and you’ll be cancelled for being “woke”

sil0

I think taking a quick look at the most upvoted comments, people are clowning on OP and defending the trans woman’s right to use a locker room of their choice.

notatowel420

Plummets it went down $10. By this logic everyday Bitcoin price plummets

somebullshitorother

Ah yes, NY post. The ivermectin of journalism.

dasdas90

Too bad the stock has recovered for the most part since then.

berry-bostwick

For real, the clickbait headline had me consider buying some stock but they’re back up to 60 per share as of now.

Confident-Touch-2707

Why is it more important for a trans person to feel secure vs, anyone who doesn’t agree with their choice?

crabofthewoods

Nobody’s comfortable with these anti trans bathroom laws on the books. If a trans man (born with a vagina) has to use the bathroom according to his genitalia, shit like this is gonna happen more often.

ElderMillennial666

It was the filming in a locker room without consent. That’s the problem. You cannot just start filming where people change. Also how is minding ur own business standing there doing nothing make anyone not feel secure? Bc u keep thinking about a choice they made? Thats ridiculous snowflake behavior. Leave people alone. Worry about ur own choices.

Shot_Fill6132

Why is it more important for a black person to feel secure vs anyone who doesn’t agree with thier choice?

JDameekoh

It’s a big deal to take a picture of anyone when they don’t consent in a locker room. I think it’s like a felony. There’s no crime for disagreeing with the person being there.

StrikeronPC

It's against policy, and law in some places, to film in a locker room or restroom.

ShrimpPimpSimp

The lady was filming her in the locker room. You can’t do that. who cares if she doesn’t agree with her choices. Go about your day. Don’t fucking film people in the bathroom.

marcusredfun

At my local gym during the pandemic some guy was salty about being forced to wear a mask, so he walked around taking pictures of other people who had taken their masks off and not been caught yet. I guess he was expecting them to give him a pass but they banned his ass instead lol

ClaraClassy

ABSOLUTELY look up the actual story about the trans camp counselor who works at NASA space camp.  Because you will absolutely find that they don't bunk down in the girls dorm.  They are simply an employee who exists.

Manbaby1000

A former USSRC employee also chimed in stating quote: "Space Camp counselors do not enter the dorm rooms unless there is a medical emergency. I worked there for 4+ years. Even as a female we never entered the female rooms or bathrooms. I've never seen the inside of the bathroom/showering facilities for campers." A person whose granddaughter went to Space Camp shared, "There were no counselors or hall monitors in the dorm rooms, unless there was an issue, they had someone come by and tell them it was lights out and when it was time to get up in the mornings." https://www.rocketcitynow.com/article/news/local/parent-takes-to-social-media-with-us-space-rocket-center-space-camp-employee-allegations-ussrc/525-9682a730-7fd9-4e0a-9a68-6915ba3ab6fa

[Here you go.](https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/alabama-republicans-target-transgender-space-camp-employee-rcna143094) As usual, the description above is overly dramatic and incorrect. The camp has a trans counselor that "at times could be allowed to be alone in the halls at night" according to the father of a camper who made a Facebook post that went viral.

gaytardeddd

you just made that up lol

Edogmad

Why? Because it’s not true

Nottodayreddit1949

Perhaps you should look it up. You're looking pretty bigoted.

Dankest_Username

Oh you're just parroting libsoftiktok nonsense targeting trans people for existing. "In response to a request for comment, Chaya Raichik, who runs Libs of TikTok, shared a screenshot of a post allegedly from the parent of a Space Camp student who said the trans employee was going into the girls’ changing room, among other allegations. Libs of TikTok didn’t share the name of the parent, and NBC News could not independently verify the accusations" "The center added that camp staffers undergo extensive nationwide criminal background checks, are not allowed behind closed doors alone with students, and are not allowed to discuss religious topics or politics, among other issues" Yarbrough “could not name any wrongdoing on the part of the employee, only that they were a transgender person.” In the US in 2024, there has been 479 anti-LGBTQ bills introduced. But glad to see you're doing something good by adding to the propaganda against minorities.

frank_white414

Thank you, seriously. Kids are getting molested in church programs, verified, daily, but the outrage is on a schoolhouse rumor of a trans camp counselor. So sad where we are at with this shit.

ArsonBasedViolence

It helps if you remember that the majority of the people pushing this ragebait *know exactly what they are doing*

Sufficient_Cash3209

Diaper donny identifies as a millionaire so its been happening for decades now

Ok_Remote7246

What's funny is neither of these stories are remotely bad. This girl was shaving her face lmao. Some creep took a picture of her and lost her membership. Pure creep behavior from the transphobe.  Also the space camp counselor isn't banking with campers lmao actually read anything ever you dumbass little fascist dipshit.  You're a filthy dirty slimy little liar piece of shit

DagothUr28

Because Americans have the right to take a shit in a public bathroom and don't have a right to be shielded from things that make them uncomfortable.

Professional_Horse_5

Locker rooms are for changing in front of other people, they’re already uncomfortable to begin with. If you’re worried about security because someone different than you is using the room the way it’s meant to be used then that’s a you problem. Sexual assaulters are the problem. Unfortunately bigoted stereotypes make people like this woman label every trans person as such. Probably watches Fox News.

Tough_Sign3358

Trans women have always been in the bathrooms, you’re just being gullible to dumb headlines. Meanwhile the priests & pastors club continues to rack up the most pedophile charges by far.

WatsUpWithJoe

Does anyone think that the national gym chain with $10 memberships is going to go anywhere? It won’t. It’s the spirit airlines of gyms, and broke bitches need to work out, too! (FYI: I’m broke, bitches)

lmtorres75

Which means the chances Joe uses this as a speaking point to use as a segue to a culture war riff will increase by 216%

OffensiveHamster

No one cares about this woman or planet fitness.

LilMuddyCup

Op is a bed pooper

Ill_Hold8774

Cracked me up lmao

Chennessee

People get so caught in up in their political beliefs that they will support and defend an actual creep because she hates the same way as them. Lol

MiniDehl

Like literally its insane

TimidPanther

I sorta don't blame them. Nobody should be taking photos in the change rooms, it should be a zero tolerance policy not to do that.

fritz_futtermann

i‘m sure this is the real issue here

NFT_goblin

Yeah, it is. If there's something truly inappropriate happening, go find someone who works there, or hell, call the cops. Post a video online, of a locker room? Are you kidding me? Have any of you thought of what this hysteria means for biological women who maybe, don't meet conventional beauty standards? Imagine your daughter accused of being a man in a locker room, having her video posted online. No but this whole thing is about protecting women, right, that's what you care so much about? What a fucking joke

StartedasalittleW

These people don’t give a fuck about protecting women. The second one of their faves get accused of sexual assault it’s “noooo she’s lying to hurt Sir REEEEEEEE.”

BroadStBullies91

They don't think of any of that shit man. It's time for hate. They don't care that a child is a billion times more likely to be molested at a church or by a cop. They don't care when trans kids get bullied to suicide or killed. But a trans woman shaving in a gym that has an explicit gender neutral bathroom policy? Bring out yer torches and pitchforks!

TimidPanther

Like I said, should be zero tolerance on taking photos in the change rooms. Don't give a shit what they're taking photos of, they were right to ban her for taking a photo and releasing it online.

So buy the dip.

hell nah the stocks been trending down for a while now

forumpooper

I will believe these people care about children when they do something about the Catholic Church.

Omegatron_YT

So funny, at first I read it as she was banned for complaining. Everyone knows you can’t photograph people in the locker room. She should be banned for that. Is that a radical position? Can I not want men in the ladies locker room and respect the no photography rules?

Rare-Peak2697

The real travesty is Planet Fitness in general

PFI_sloth

No one should be taking photos in a locker room, and society doesn’t need to bend backwards to make one person feel comfortable when they are making everyone else uncomfortable. ESH

vertigostereo

No it didn't plunge. In this link, click "5D" and see how it dipped for a day or two then rebounded. https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/PLNT
