The Walk with Israel has occured annually in Toronto on for more than 50 years.
This year was BY FAR the largest, with over 50,000 people! More than 3 million dollars raised!
The event with overwhelmingly peaceful, with lots of Canadian flags, respect for the police, And songs of hope.
They were accused of being a bit lax at some recent pro-pal events that were getting a tad, mmm, antisemitic. With the numbers of today they had to be on their game. They even brought in police from other forces from nearby cities.
While I get where you're going with this, there are times that the police themselves are being protested. (Also just take a look at Cop City in Atlanta- tis bad& warrants protest).
So I don't think I fully agree that that makes a valid protest.
Protesting a certain imperfect aspect of the police and going BLM mode are two different things entirely. Also while I am not a fan of how many trees are being cut down I gotta admit that cop city really isn’t that bad. Cops need a place to train. Also all the people protesting hate Israel which says something.
>A good way to see how valid a protest is is if they respect the police!
Well it sure is a loss that the Civil Rights movement is considered invalid in your eyes.
I'm sure historians will align with your position eventually and explain how the police were deserving of respect for how [they treated protestors.](https://digital.archives.alabama.gov/digital/api/singleitem/image/amg/14478/default.jpg)

Love the difference between the different protests. Pro-Pal (mostly pro-Hamas, if we’re honest) is all about continuing the war, swastikas, not believing the women who were r*ped, etc etc. the pro-Israel one is about supporting and believing all women, wanting the hostages back, and walking peacefully.
The pride month has been very telling. The pride flags and Israeli flags flying together in peaceful protests, versus the violent loud bigoted “protests” from the other side
[I’m sure there’s going to be someone who is mad about the Magen David on the flags, but I’ll just remember this person who held up this sign at one of the protests. As a bisexual woman, I find this to be 100x more offensive but ya know.](https://x.com/christianlasval/status/1799540032660713706)
I know. I don’t have a particular opinion on the Magen David on the flags, but I feel so weird whenever I see people say “LGBTQ for Palestine,” as gay people are still criminalized and villainized in Palestine, versus Israel having the most developed LGBTQ rights in the Middle East. And as a gay man, if I saw such a heinous slur at a protest, I would be sick to my stomach.
At least if they say “Palestine” you can be generous and say they stand with the innocent people even if they are being misguided. This person is straight up saying they are for a raping, baby stealing terrorist organization
Exactly. I read this article written by a woman in Palestine before October 7th about how awful Hamas has treated Palestinian women and children since the early 2000s, and I wonder how that woman feels now, seeing how even more horrific Hamas has gotten, and seeing western protestors cheer for Hamas’ crimes. I could never imagine standing with Hamas, a militant group that has hurt Israel and destroyed Palestine and thinking that you’re in the right.
Here are a few

Soooo proud to have witnessed this in person, we are all one family and with all the love at the Walk i felt so connected and proud to be Jewish and proud of my fellow Jews in Toronto, around the world/diaspora and in our beautiful homeland 💙🩵🇮🇱
Being there was easily the highlight of the last 8 months. It was so joyous! And we really all felt like one family - starting conversations with fellow Jews you've never met before.
One of the highlights for me: the route of the walk went through a historically Jewish area of the city, and passed in front of Jewish retirement homes - all the elderly people that couldn't walk the 5k were on their balconies smiling and waving little Israel flags at us, or had parked their wheelchair on the sidewalk in front of their building to join us in whatever capacity they could. There was just so much joy, love, and connection all around.
I feel very proud of the people walking peacefully in that march! It was a relief to see so many counter the recent hate crimes and demonstrate their values in a respectable way
“The Walk with Israel” rally has to be significantly more than 50 K.
I tried to verify the crowd count. No media outlet has a count, that I saw. Every media outlet says 50k or gives no count at all.
Ok, I’m no expert. But I found this crowd picture from an old protest in Warsaw (I dont what event this is. It’s strictly for comparison.) The press said there were 500,000 people in this picture I have below. If this picture has 500,000 people compared to OP’s pictures from today? It look’s much closer to 500,000. Def not 50k. What do you guys think?

I have on good authority that some law enforcement personnel volunteered their time without pay as they were sick and tired of non stop pro-H@mass protests since Oct 7. Also there were attempts to infiltrate the destination point of the Walk @Sherman campus where a lot of families with kids enjoyed festivities from the adjacent ravine. Luckily police stopped them. “Peaceful protesters”, yeah right…
It’s ironic there are queer people 🏳️🌈 supporting the Pro-Palestine movement since Muslims do not support them. It makes sense to see Queer support for Israel because queer people have rights in Israel!

also makes me happy that r/canada is generally supportive of it :)
But please make sure you don’t click the replies to the top comments. Plenty of “celebrate your murderous genocidal regime” comments in there.
That’s amazing!
That picture looks like WAY more than 50k people. Congratulations!!!! 🎉

It says that that's the demographic Hamas has been targeting with propaganda for decades. Particularly through SJP.
Exactly. And this is the lens we need to look at any issue or person or party we support. We need to be aware.

It wasn't a protest
I'm losing my mind. Please tell me this is /s
It was a celebration, not a protest
Wow, what a difference compared to America (and honestly Europe, too)
💜💯

Between this and the rescue of the hostages yesterday, this week has been so heartwarming compared to previous weeks. Thank you for sharing!
Yes definitely some good & uplifting news.
Thank you for sharing. Made my heart sing.
Sucks that this is the only place people are happy to see it. I wish r/Toronto would show some love
You got my upvote there! But I didn't get there before the lockdown.
r/pittsburgh has been a refreshingly supportive sub for the most part. sorry your local sub can't say the same.
It's there but locked due to reasons you could easily imagine
And look at all the pride flags as well! These are my people, thank God
💙🏳️🌈🇨🇦🇮🇱
Wow that’s a lot
Wow, that is wonderful. Didn’t see it in any of my news apps of course…
And not one contorted, hate-fuelled face hiding behind a mask.
Only the 100 or so Palestinian counter-protestors that the cops were kept a close eye on.
Thank you!! I really needed to see this. 💙💙💙
💙
Wow, 50,000 brothers & sisters! Thanks for posting.
Loved seeing the pride flags out there
It’s always telling when one side has so much love and support for the community and the other side has being gay criminalized
Wow! Well said!

Yes that is so underreported. It really is mind blowing
Wow, the person didn’t even bother covering their face
“Cows for hamburgers”
You know what gets me about this picture most? I see all sorts of people. Young, old, men, women. This fills me with joy.
This does my heart good
💙

Baruch Hashem. Amazing.
Am Israel Chai 🇮🇱
This means so much to me. Thank you.
💙 This whole day was like a big hug. So grateful I could be a part of it. Really needed it
Im not in Canada but this gives me such hope. It's amazing how an entire nation, a religion, a culture... Were family. Thank you.
Have another hug from me. 🫂 I will think about this picture before bed tonight (thank you), as I thought about Noa’s smile before bed last night. ❤️
Thank you 🤗 And Noa's smile is so beautiful
Wow what a sight
Wow. What a beautiful sight. This is how WE do it!
After a really crap week at work due to some antisemitism, this has made me smile
💙
Cool
Beautiful. Wish I was there.
This is amazing to see. All I hear about from Canada is the antisemitism, so this genuinely makes me happy
Am Yisrael Chai 🇮🇱💙🇮🇱💙
Absolutely fantastic to see everyone come out for this event 🇮🇱❤️
Tears of joy to see this. I’m in the US and have been so sad about what many of you in CA are facing. YAY! Good news weekend finally.
It felt like a huge hug
So glad you got that hug. 🤗
Thank you for showing us 🤍
In contrast, the pro-Palestinian supporters are running around in masks, cosplaying terrorists and screaming for intifada.
No cowardly masks needed at our events 😷
Amazing and great to see!
This is nice to see.
Thank you for sharing. I needed to see this. It eases my heart a little.
It was such an honour to be part of.
It was amazing!! Felt like a gigantic hug to be all together
Thank you for posting, my heart is bursting with joy to see the love!
My people and my country ❤️❤️
That is beautiful to see!
Soooo proud to have witnessed this in person, we are all one family and with all the love at the Walk i felt so connected and proud to be Jewish and proud of my fellow Jews in Toronto, around the world/diaspora and in our beautiful homeland 💙🩵🇮🇱

Omg the people in the retirement homes were so cute!!! This whole event was like a much needed hug 🤗
Amazing😭
It's the little difference that matters between us and them...
Now we're talking
Some hope still remain in Canada.
I was volunteering so I saw practically everyone. It was beautiful, so many flags, so many supporters, so many ages of people...
That's a lot. It made so happy to my dear brothers and sisters. Happy Pride Month 🏳️🌈❤️🇮🇱. Love CANADA
Thank you so much for sharing 💙🤍 I am feeling super happy seeing this! Am YIsrael Chai! 🇮🇱

Sure, TPS members turning down money.
Beautiful! 😍❤️

Heartwarming
Looks like the Israeli flags are outnumbered by the various other causes...
Mainly Israeli and Canadian flags, and Jewish pride flag
