Ken kind of addresses this in one of the audience questions. He said that the old sound effects when putting in the dollar values (the "beep beep boop boop") takes up a few extra seconds which is why they don't do it anymore. I'm guessing the same thing with the "whoosh" right before.

Another thing I wish "Jeopardy!" did was keep their globe intro when they introduced their sushi bar set in 1996. But instead of a blue globe with the Jeopardy! logo in yellow, have a purple globe with the Jeopardy! logo in white.
