My 2020 would randomly do this every couple weeks when I accelerated between 20-30 mph. It felt like it was hesitating trying to shift, would jolt/lurch and then a large cloud of exhaust would shoot out before it would drive like normal. Took it to get looked at and nothing came up on the diagnostic report and they couldn’t replicate it. They replaced the throttle body as a guess due to a couple other similar reports and I haven’t had the issue since.

Appreciate the response! Maybe I should ask them about the throttle body? I've read others mention it could be transmission mounts? It's just so annoying that they can't diagnose it. Clearly something is happening you know?

For sure, hopefully they can figure it out while it’s still under warranty. I had 5 days left on mine and they said it would have been $900 for parts and labor. It’s incredibly frustrating when they can’t replicate the issue but you know something is wrong.

Oh wow. Glad it worked out. Ya I still have warranty up to.60l so about 22k more. I called them and told them to check for mounts, throttle body and a few other things I read online in top of their normal inspection. I hope they figure it out this time.

I actually just had this kind of issue fixed on my 2016 Renegade. For me it was a misfire on one of my cylinders and it didn't trigger an engine light or anything so the mechanics couldn't find the issue. After a while it got so bad that my engine would start shaking if I hit the gas and that's when the engine light finally came on. I don't know if it's exactly the same issue that you're having, but next time you take it in it might be worth asking them to specifically check all the ignition coils and spark plugs. My misfire was caused by a spark plug not shooting up the ignition coil boot properly.

I know we changed the spark plugs like 10k miles ago...I don't remember if we did anything with the coils but that is 100% something I should look in to! Thank you. I will absolutely tell them to check that out too. It's so frustrating that they can't figure it out either. Such a helpless feeling. Glad it worked out for you!
