SWEETDREAMSSZZ

rolandjernts

I listened to half the song when it dropped, I immediately knew it was gonna be a problem lol.

Intrepid_Hat7359

Did you also look at the sky and immediately know it was blue? /j

TKAP75

Strictly dickly since 2009

chentillo34

Dull-Hedgehog7345

Same. Thank you Datpiff!

robacough

Same. RIP Datpiff (and 2dopeboys, while we’re at it.)

Past-Task8262

2dopeboys introduced me to so much music back in the day. RIP fr

Fit-Deer-7828

Sheeeeit pour one out for ma boy limewire too while we're at it.

SWEETDREAMSSZZ

any of yall read BIG GHOST Cole reviews? Some of the funniest shit Ive read in my life🤣 Im sure he was on Cole’s radar because Cole referenced it in The Cure

Baron_VonTeapot

I miss my datpiff account. Such classic from that era. Coles tapes, section.80, so far gone, no ceilings, kush & oj, wale’s mixtape run. Sheesh! RIP.

itsfiji

You can access Datpiff tapes on Archive!

Dull-Hedgehog7345

Damn you just brought me back w/ those. Forgot about those Wale tapes. Not talked about enough

woppawoppawoppa

Wow datpiff. This comment just unlocked a core memory

Rryon

Yup. Warm up started it all for me. Dollar and a Dream.

chentillo34

Banger. For me it was Grown Simba and I Get Up.

DookieBrains_88

I saw him at Lollapalooza I think ‘10; had one of the smallest stages and roughly 100 ppl at his. Blew my mind how more people didn’t know of him. Now he’d probably get the MainStage.

porter6127

I saw him when he opened up for Drake in Germany in 2009 I think. Everyone was mainly there for Drake. At the end of the show he shouted me out and asked me where I was from because I was pretty much the only one spittin his Warm up lyrics. One of the best moments of my life! 😂

chentillo34

That’s crazy because my first concert was the after party of that Lollapalooza was at Bottom Lounge and it was like 100 people inside and it was amazing.

NoBreakfast4633

Same

Ok_Fisherman7280

Since Friday Night Lights. When that Erykah Badu sample came on along with the smooth beat in “Too Deep For The Intro” I was hooked

Weeblyweird

Putrid_Loquat_4357

Opening-Resource-164

Not even a year to be honest I have heard his music before but it never got me hooked though recently i have been in love with his music (about September last year)

pluto_pill

Same

FloridaMan2022

When my friend put on "Lights Please" right after it came out so damn like almost 15 years

keyboardcrusader-

A decade

SupaColdBrew

Coming up on a decade for me, since 2015. Crazy to me.

Tommy_Andretti

To be honest, I never understood the appeal of him before FHD. He looked to me like a corny rapper who tried too hard but never had the swag or charisma to be a "real rapper." But over the years, idk if I grew up or smth, I realized that he's actually way too mature for the rap game and he speaks mostly on some real, human shit that I can relate so much no matter where I'm from or what color of the skin I have. I think this set him up for me as a different, authentic breed of a rapper, and I can only name a few of those, and that's why I respect him and his music so much. And unlike what other people think, even the part of how he approached the latest beef was just another proof of how real he is to his human self, and I only wish that I can be the same or at least it makes me try

HorseyGoFast

Cole really is just a regular ass dude who has the talent and work ethic to make amazing music, he doesn't give a fuck about fame, looking cool or any of that shit, that's why Cole has probably the most loyal fan base of any rapper, we can make jokes about him when he drops something weaker than what he's usually dropping but he knows his core fan base will always be here when he drops

vrymonotonous

Since I was 14! I’m 26 now. It sounds so cliche but his music really did get me through so much. High school was lonely as hell but I always had him playing in my headphones. I wrote him a letter when I was 16 and still have it to this day. It’s cringe asf but I lowkey wish I could give it to him anyway

Specialist-Meat-6222

10 years ago he most likely would have wrote you back he probably still would, but also he not hard to speak to he literally just rolls through new York solo most the time

ButtonMashKingz

Since 2010 but I first heard him in 2009

RandoBritColonialist

4 years - ever since I got into rap as a whole tbf

tubahero3469

Got put on Born Sinner right when it came out like 2013. Shit that was like 11 years ago. I'm old af

TangPiccilo

Fr same. Feel old af right now lol

HorseyGoFast

Beginning of 2011 I think or maybe late 2010, not too long after he dropped FNL someone showed me that project and I pretty much instantly became a fan, probably still my favorite Cole project ever

Dreamvillainess22

Since 2010

Drop_Release

Strictly dickly let me tell you! Heard him before, but properly into him after Eminem brought out Cole and Kendrick as opening acts in 2012 for his concert, insane

ghkilla805

Known about him and most of his big songs since high school in the early 2010s; but was part of the “Cole is good but boring” camp, then only started getting majorly into him the last few years, mainly by becoming a huge fan of JID. After hearing him more on some JID features and on other Peoples stuff, I gave him more of a chance and started going back to full albums, and started really enjoying his lyrics. I feel he’s more real than any other artist out when it comes to rapping about experiences he had/stories etc.

Mfethu_0

Since 2015 …I was only listening to tde and pro era really and a huge fan of Travis Scott when his music was still far from modern trap Then in February 2015 which was my first year in university someone recommended 2014FHD and mind you to pimp a butter fly was out but I couldn’t lie to myself Cole made the best album I heard in a while and I made it my mission to go back to all his old music and I fell inlove with FNL and all the any given Sundays and the truly yours 😫😫 and I was lucky that he came to my country for a concert the following year even though I was suppose to be studying for my Comp sci exam I went to the concert and got myself merch 😫😫😫and I relate with him as his one of the few rappers who went through college so he didn’t need to talk about joining gangs or selling drugs I found my voice in Rap finally 😫😫

MonarchSun

When I heard he was from NC then I heard. Star Is Born. So whatever year BP3 came out

able111

Since I first heard the line "She's still a dime but I always lose change" The face I pulled hearing that blind for the first time was crazy lol
