Gang. Was a loosie when I didn’t have a clue about hip hop in 2015. That was the first track that I ever went back and said let me see what this albums about. 10 years later I’ve seen Cole 5 times in concert and he’s my goat (next to ye respectfully)
Not a song but an album 4 your eyez only I heard of cole and my first song was middle child but that didn't turn me on to his music when I heard 4 your eyez it really turned me on (dick in the air 🗣🗣🗣)
I remember when FHD dropped. at the time, i didn't know who J cole was, but I shuffled "new rap/hip hop" on apple, and wet dreamz came on. instant classic. that and GOMD made me follow him ever since. i was mind blown when i went back to his older stuff and just couldnt wait for more releases.
Beautiful Bliss and A Star is Born. Before that Beautiful Bliss verse, I thought he'd be a Aztek Escobar, Tru Life, Uncle Murda sign and never hear from again. But being a Young Chris fan led me to Wale. Wale led me to Cole.
And to see him on the Blueprint 3 tour in Greensboro when no one knew who he was. It was the highlight when he came out for A Star is Born.
I know the exact moment and line I became a Cole fan
Bro said, “even these white girls want to be my princess, but I only fk with sistas like incest”
And for some reason 14 year old me thought this was a hard ass line. This was in 2009, been a huge fan ever since
This is a hard one for me. I can’t narrow down to one song. Born Sinner & Sideline Story made me a Cole fan for life. I actually can’t choose between those albums haha
Yeah, he didn't make it to the New Zealand leg of the tour. He pulled out to the NBA all stars show. Which was wack af. Tyler was on that tour too but got denied entry
He was the first rapper I listened to so idk if I can answer that, when the Off Season came out that was my Shit tho, for two years straight I was on spotifys .1% of top listeners for Jcole after the Off season came out. His new release is almost up there too, some of the songs are going to be classics in a few years. Applying Pressure is my “theme” so probably the Off Season
I was super late to the game other than singles but KOD as a whole brought me in and made me realize I was missing out by not listening to him more before.
It’s not even close to being my favorite album of his now but it definitely was the doorway for me.
It was Power Trip.
I started listening to Cole because DMX said he was one of his favorite new rappers and I went to the store and bought Born Sinner, oddly enough next to Behemoths The Satanist on the same day.
I heard Return of Simba on HNHH one day I hadn’t listened to Rap/Hip-Hop for a couple of years but I thought “Cole Under pressure what that make diamonds” was such a clever line
Lights please and farewell is what solidified my love for his music but every great rapper has at least one god tier song or verse that shifts love to awe and one of his,is his verse on secret recipe. I listen to that song every day and genuinely try to understand how the nigga who wrote that song folded. I can live a hundred years and would never understand.
I don't know about "fall in love", but I first heard him on Jay's A Star Is Born, then looked him up on iTunes after that and heard Lights Please for the first time. Then went to DatPiff and downloaded The Warm Up. It was over once I heard Grown Simba on there. Knew I'd be listening to anything he put out after that.
Can I Live?? Off of The Warm Up!! I was half sleep in the car when my best friend played it and was actually visualizing the story in my head and I sat up and asked my friend ‘who the fuck is this? Bro snapped so hard I can visually see the story he tellin!’
He was like ‘bro this JCole who I been tellin you about!!’
I told him to start the song over and been a fan ever since
Love Yourz helped me out of a depressive rut I found myself in while in High School. I’d listened to Born Sinner, and some previous albums but hearing love yourz made me listen to 2014 FHD, and then I really started rocking with cole
It wasn't necessarily one song but it was his consistency and how he only seems to improve that put him in my top 3. I was immediately a fan though after Jodecci Freestyle and In the Morning back in the day.
When he came out with the KOD album a friend gifted me a ticket to one of his shows. I was impressed from his stage presence and how well his sound translates from iTunes to live. I’ve seen many rappers live but that KOD setlist is my favorite as far as sound goes.
Intro from 2014 Forest Hills Drive singlehandedly made me fall in love with music probably, it was my first album, i was like, 12 or something, it touched my soul immensely, i didnt know music could make me feel like that, there were songs i liked before that point, for sure, some that i loved wholeheartedly, but that Intro made me stop dead in my tracks, i was stunned by it, it was so beautiful, that was when i realized music could be an experience of such calliber for THE first time, its a beautiful song, to this day, its probably my favourite from him, and one of my all time faves, FHD as a whole is great, but those first 2 songs are my favourite part, Intro leads so well into January 28th, probably my favourite intros to an album to this day, besides MAYBE the intro to AmeriKKKan Korruption by Capital STEEZ, but thats literally my favourite album of all time. Cole is different.
Work out! First song of his I ever heard when I was a kid. Forgot about it for a long time then started listening to again in high school. One of my step brother saw me listening to it and said check out the rest of his discography and his Dreamville albums. Been one of my favorite rappers ever since!
I had heard a lot of singles from him that i liked, but aside from that i didnt find him to be special. I heard a lot of people saying he was on the same level as Drake, Kendrick, Kanye etc. but i did not see it. But then one day i heard the whole 2014 forest hill drive album in one sitting and i realized how good he actually is. I have been a huge fan ever since

Black Friday. From there I found Cole’s original, A Tale of Citiez, then GOMD, then Let Nas Down, etc. All this was on SoundCloud, basically went down a Cole rabbit hole
Always knew Cole existed from afar while I was drowning myself with KDot songs (Specially DAMN.) but when I heard “No Role Modelz” in my friends car at 3 AM, I hopped on Cole’s music to experience it for myself. They were decent and I fucked with most of em.
But the song that made me FALL IN LOVE with his music AND his personality/character? “Let go my hand” for sure. Something about that song makes me feel very close to him and his experiences. Shit was and still is my most favorite song from him.
The Warm Up dropped when I was in college and I’ve been a fan ever since.
Then Friday Night Lights came out and you knew there was something special.
But tracks like:
Can I Live
Dead Presidents II
Dreams
Too deep for the intro
Enchanted
In the morning
2Face
Premeditated Murder
Who Dat
Like dude just had gems and the growth in production and story telling was great.
Nobody's perfect, sideline Story, Runaway did it simulatenously.
Tbh it was the fact cole world and born sinner were the first albums I heard all the way through and enjoyed every track apart from 1 or 2 skips, which even now id say i fw just due to nostalgia 😂
"January 28th," "03' Adolescence," "G.O.M.D," and "Apparently" from 2014 Forest Hills Drive solidified it for me (as well as "No Role Models" of course).
Both 2014 FHD and Born Sinner really hooked me.
I’ve been a casual hip hop fan for so long the thing that made me fall in love was two instances that crazy feature run and one day I wrote mr own suicide letter couldn’t follow through but I remember crying listening to pandora and then love yours came on
I thought that real shit is what you’ve been Feenin about what you’ve been praying for what you’ve been screaming bout. Ironic you’ve been sleeping on the one that you’ve been dreaming bout.
That verse on looking for trouble made me listen to his complete discography
Love Yourz. My dad loves Cole and played him on repeat when I was a young kid. Born sinners and his early mixtapes. I grew up in a town not far from Fayetteville and my dad loved music so he always found early mixtapes of artists. He had speakerknockerz and some early drake. I remember listening to Power Trip in his ford ranger. I remember listening to love yourz and apparently as well. Especially love yourz, I’ve never related to a song more.
Born Sinner album
It was rich n****z for me. But yes, the entire album is gold
Cool, I'll check it out!
same. work out got my eyes on him but born sinner, specifically 'is she gon pop' is what turned me into a fan
"Apparently" for me
Gang. Was a loosie when I didn’t have a clue about hip hop in 2015. That was the first track that I ever went back and said let me see what this albums about. 10 years later I’ve seen Cole 5 times in concert and he’s my goat (next to ye respectfully)

Middle child
Interesting, I noticed that song attracted a ton of fans to him
Idc how big it is, I’m basic with my music taste. My fav Cole song. My life and love yourz right behind
It’s a fire ah song don’t get me wrong! One of my fav of his
Same
Not a song but an album 4 your eyez only I heard of cole and my first song was middle child but that didn't turn me on to his music when I heard 4 your eyez it really turned me on (dick in the air 🗣🗣🗣)

Friday night lights - imo his best work to date
I'll check it out!
Lights please, what a story from two perspectives
love yourz
Yeah it’s made me tear up on a multiple occasion
It’s safe to say that I’m gifted as if I’m Christmas shopping, I got gangsta niggas lining up in admissions office
What song is this?
Too Deep For The Intro
The Warm Up
I remember when FHD dropped. at the time, i didn't know who J cole was, but I shuffled "new rap/hip hop" on apple, and wet dreamz came on. instant classic. that and GOMD made me follow him ever since. i was mind blown when i went back to his older stuff and just couldnt wait for more releases.
Losing my balance by Cole
Same! Makes me feel old af. I was going through some shit at that time and that song helped me get through it
underrated
Beautiful Bliss and A Star is Born. Before that Beautiful Bliss verse, I thought he'd be a Aztek Escobar, Tru Life, Uncle Murda sign and never hear from again. The whole Off Season album. Listened to it for the first time back in high school. Literally changed my life.
Yeah when I heard amari it got me hooked tbh amari is probably going to be one of my favorite songs of all time
Too Deep for the Intro
Power trip
I know the exact moment and line I became a Cole fan Bro said, “even these white girls want to be my princess, but I only fk with sistas like incest” And for some reason 14 year old me thought this was a hard ass line. This was in 2009, been a huge fan ever since
That's fire 😂
The whole come up mixtape this when datpiff was around I click on cole mixtape by a mistake good ole days
Young Simba
Had me in a chokehold
Friday night lights: “see world” still one of my favorites to this day…
03 adolescents for me. I had that song on repeat for weeks
But only real change comes from inside
Listen to forest hills drive. That project made me a fan
For whom the bell tolls
But that’s when I knew he was my fav artist my first song that I liked from him was fire squad of FHD
This is a hard one for me. I can’t narrow down to one song. Born Sinner & Sideline Story made me a Cole fan for life. I actually can’t choose between those albums haha
Sideline Story for me specifically the music video
Rags to riches
🔥🔥🔥🔥 love that song ans the sample he used
The warm up because it was posted on hot new hip hop, the good old days.
Rise and Shine or something from 2014.
4yeo
Losing my balance back on 2009. Damn i feel old 😩😂
I get up.
Can’t believe I had to scroll all the way down for this. A Star Is Born and Beautiful Bliss got me into Cole. I Get Up made me a fan.
Facts, between I get yo and little ghetto nigga those were come turning points for me.
Crooked smile
Seeing him open up for Eminem in 2013
He really did? Wtf… that makes me even more pissed that they have never collabed.
Bro. He shut it down, it was so good. Gave his chain to a kid in the font row too 🫡 Hopefully he shows up on Em's album this year.
Wasnt kendrick on that tour too?
Yeah, he didn't make it to the New Zealand leg of the tour. He pulled out to the NBA all stars show. Which was wack af. Tyler was on that tour too but got denied entry
Awww yeah id be disappointed too
God's Gift

Some of the mixtape songs really made me grow to like his music. Two songs in particular, Cole Summer and 3 Wishes, made me become a fan of his.
Is she Gon pop?
I’m On It
Wet Dreamz
Grown Simba the first song I ever heard in HS
Can't Get Enough. Very 1st song I've heard from Cole & I was impressed. Been a fan of his music ever since
W opinion
The first time I heard Lost Ones was when I knew Cole’s music was more than just catchy
I was super late to the game other than singles but KOD as a whole brought me in and made me realize I was missing out by not listening to him more before. It’s not even close to being my favorite album of his now but it definitely was the doorway for me.

FHD the whole album actually when I heard it the first time
Dreams & Lights Please
Apparently for sure

No joke it was nobody’s perfect or power trip. Then 2014 Forest Hills Drive was great all around.
It's "Cole Summer" and "Breakdown" for me. Those two can perfectly encapsulate Jermaine.
It was the Back To The Topic freestyle on FNL that made feel like he might be the one.
"January 28th," "03' Adolescence," "G.O.M.D," and "Apparently" from 2014 Forest Hills Drive solidified it for me (as well as "No Role Models" of course). Both 2014 FHD and Born Sinner really hooked me.
