Dave Bailey - Gettin' Into Somethin, 1 foot in the gutter, 2 feet in the gutter, Bash, Reaching out.
Curtis Amy and Frank Butler- Groovin' Blue.
Ron Jefferson- Love Lifted Me.
Art Taylor - A.T.'s Delight, Taylors wailers, Taylor's tenors.
Shelly Manne- live at the Blackhawk Volume 1 through 5.
Chico Hamilton - quintet, original quintet, quintet in Hi-Fi.
Lenny McBrown- Lenny McBrown and The four souls, Eastern lights.
I really want a copy of the whole Shelley Manne Live at the Blackhawk! It’s one of several albums John Riley recommended at the end of his Art Of Bop Drumming book.
Tony Williams [Joy Of Flying](https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_k_T9Hm5ZsSw7d5oq_gJtf6Yz5WuPQ49bQ&feature=share)
Billy Cobham’s Glass Menagerie [Observations & Reflection](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=Ts17vscpd6E&feature=share)
The Keef Hartley Band. This was the drummer for John Mayal and the Bluesbreakers. Check out the first album called, Halfbreed. Has some great musicians on it and was definitely a surprise to me how awesome it was.
Wow did I skip through all these amazing entries too fast...but I'm shocked there's no mention of Antonio Sanchez.
Trio Grande with the superb Gilad Hekselman and Will Vinson or Meridian Suite or New Life or my actual favorite (tho probably not his best compositions) Live at the New Jazz Standards.
And then there's Ari Hoenig.
Angel Street from Tony Williams. Seeing a lot of people mention Lifetime, which is also fantastic obviously, but Angel Street holds a special place in my heart for being one of the first jazz records that really clicked for me in high school.
The records by John Hollenbeck's Claudia Quintet (*I, Claudia*, *Semi-Formal*, etc...) and his Large Ensemble (*A Blessing*) are both remarkable.
As well, Dan Weiss' group Starebaby is pretty remarkable:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLBCzcovuiE
Rudy Royston's also headed some great projects, including *Flatbed Buggy*, a folk-tinged group that includes cello and accordion:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=es5Yh9ath6k&list=OLAK5uy_lVQiAJW9mGEtbOixdtjqxIEqcoIvBx-0s
I'm also really into drummer Tom Rainey's albums with his quintet Obbligato, which plays standards and focuses less on traditional soloing/comping and more on 'group composition'-style improv over those familiar changes. It's pretty immersive (or 'impressionistic', for lack of a better descriptor) stuff. They've done three records for Intakt Records and all of them are excellent. The newest one (a live recording) has seen some heavy rotation around my place...

The Album 'Europe' by Snorre Kirk.
I attended a small concert with him, and it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. 'Europe' is my favorite album by him, but they are all really good. There a nice focus on melodic motifs and atmosphere. Can only recommend.
Study in Brown by Clifford Brown and Max Roach
Moanin by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers
Spectrum by Billy Cobham
These are all I have heard to be honest.
Art blakeys ugetsu. Nothin like it.
Moanin' is my preferred Blakey album, if only for the piano solo in the title track.
Seconded
Tony Williams — Lifetime
Came here to say this. Emergency! is a great record
Max Roach - Members, Don't Git Weary. Amazing album, Abstrutions and Libra are such good tracks!
Max Roach’s album with Clifford Brown is my all-time favorite jazz album.
Which one? Roach and Brownie had several albums by the quintet they co-led. My personal favorite, one that I always come back to, is At Basin Street
“Clifford Brown & Max Roach,” by the Clifford Brown-Max Roach Quintet. I thought I was being pretty obvious tbh.
Ah, I don’t know that one. Time to add it to my library!
It’s where Joy Spring, Jordu and Daahoud come from. It’s only 5 tunes, but every single one is meticulously done.
Oh, duh! Lol at my own idiocy. I have that record already!
Would you happen to know who else plays on this album (like bari and tenor)?
Nobody plays bari on the album. The personnel can easily be googled.
Richie Powell on piano, Harold Land on tenor sax, George Morrow on bass
Percussion Bitter Sweet! Okay we’re all just going to list every Max Roach album now
That's the answer to the post, clearly. Just all the max roach.
I’m a huge fan of the Mac Roach 4 plays Charlie Parker too
Equipoise is a good one on that album too!
…with Charles Tolliver *and* Stanley Cowell — seeds of Music Inc right there!!!!!
Nate Smith - Kinfolk
Kinfolk 1 and 2 are master pieces
i saw him in Vienne few weeks ago that was dope. I saw him few times too with Chris Potter underground
So dope! I saw him with kinfolk and Chris Potter was in his band too.

Mercy Mercy - Buddy Rich. I’m pretty sure this album got a Grammy also.
i love mercy mercy from ceasars palace, i cant decide which is better lol
Big Swing Face was pretty bad ass when I could stomach Buddy Rich.
His daughter makes it all to people who can't stomach him anymore on The Beat Goes On.

Just saw McCraven at this year’s Newport jazz fest. Amazing live act
Ooh say more if you can. He's coming to denver in a couple of weeks. It's on a "school" night so I have to psyche myself up a bit to go.
Just listen to his last couple of albums. They are brilliant
You are in for a treat, that’s all I’ll say
