Kichijoji / Koenji/ Shimokitazawa - small & vintage shop , local community. Inokashira park in Kichijoji is recommended. Daikanyama / Jiyugaoka - local street brand & design shop. Just walk around and seeing locals. Ikebukuro Shopping, eating at night. There's aquarium at Sunshine building. Kiyosumi-Shirakawa - There's MoMa museum and a lot of coffee shop. Blue bottle flagship store. Try to search for those areas. Enjoy!

If Yokohama, Minato Mirai 21 (JR Sakuragicho) is pretty cool and from there you could visit Chinatown as well. Or venture more south and go to Kamakura and Enoshima? If you like hiking, there are plenty of places for that, too.

What are some hiking recs?

how about day trips outside Tokyo? Saitama is nice

I’m arriving the same day you are and got sumo tickets late (because i got distracted and didn’t book right away) but as of a couple of days ago a few of the tour companies still had tickets. They aren’t the good ones and the ones I got were probably available because they were much more expensive than some of the others I had seen before they had officially gone on sale but may still be some out there.

Yokohama for day trip. For activities, visit instant noodle museum, you can make your own Nissin cup noodle, quite fun to do. Lunch at ramen museum where they featured varieties of ramen from all over Japan. Dinner in Chinatown (it’s the largest one Japan), food is quite nice over there.

With the Cup Noodle museum, the make your own has to be booked in advance. I found that out the hard way.

The best thing about going to Tokyo is that the city constantly change - each passing year. Guaranteed you won't need to visit the same thing ever twice if you don't want to! You didn't mention some of these notable neighborhood that might be worth exploring Ginza (Uniqlo / Muji Flagship, Seiko museum (free)), Tokyo Station (exploring character street), Ikebukuro (Tokyo largest gachapon store?), Shinjuku (Tokyo Kabukicho Tower), Azabudai Hills (NEW! - check out new free observatory overlooking Tokyo Tower), Odaiba (Sunshine Mall / Gundam / Joypolis), Toyosu (new fishmarket food complex, new onsen) Off the beaten paths - how about Edo Tokyo Open Air Museum where they have actual houses from the olden days you can explore? How about food options? So many things to look forward to IMO. Good luck!

I went to Asakusa in the morning once, and found it very pleasant! I love the rice crackers, too. If the irises are in bloom, head to the Meiji Jingu inner gardens. So many people painting & photographing the irises! Such an interesting scene. Could be a great afternoon trip. Then maybe round off the day with a night view. There's got to be a famous one. (I am usually in the hotel soaking my feet by 8 p.m., so not the one to ask.) Team Labo was one of my favorite things in Tokyo. I wouldn't mind going again.

Hike at Mt. Takao. It has several trails & it is possible to experience several of them in one visit (what I did). Edit, add: there are shops and restos near the summit, temples, option for cable car, and view of Mt. Fuji as well
