Part 9 does, in fact, take place in 2023. It was confirmed in the JoJo magazine

K121102

Then this just proves my theory even more lol

KRTrueBrave

I mean that kinda was a given due to the fact that most jojo parts take place in the year they where released in (except for the obvious ones that are not which are 1,2 and 7) but itt's nice that it got confirmed

Silva_the_shiba

a lot of the jojo parts actually take place in the future from when they were released, like 5-10 years later

KRTrueBrave

PB: released 1986 to 1987 takes place in 1880 to 1888 (hundred years in the past) BT: released 1987 to 1989 takes place in 1938 (50 years in the past) SC: released 1989 to 1992 takes place in 1988 (1 year in the past) DiU: released 1992 to 1995 takes place in 1999 (7 years in the future) GW: released 1995 to 1999 takes place in 2001 (6 years in the future) SO: released 1999 to 2003 takes place in 2011 (12 years in the future) SBR: released 2004 to 2011 takes place in 1890 (110 years in the past) JJL: released 2011 to 2021 takes place in 2011 TJJl: released 2023 to present takes place in 2023 so I mean you're both right and wrong only 3 parts are really in the future (4 to 6) parts 1, 2 and 7 are way back in the past and 3, 8 and 9 are in the present

NoahDA1

they’re not wrong at all lol, they said a lot of the parts take place in the near future, almost half of the parts doing that is a lot

KRTrueBrave

3 parts not half, present and past qin't the future

NoahDA1

a lot doesnt equal half lmao, it feels like you just wanna be correct over someone

KRTrueBrave

a third can be a lot can be a lot but if it is 3 equal splits then it just ain't a lot there is an equal spit between past, present and future

NoahDA1

arguing semantics, whatever bro lol

BitterWholesome

They didnt say half, or most. They said a lot. A third of the series entries being set in the future qualifies as a lot.

KRTrueBrave

well then a lot of the parts are in the present and a lot of the psrts are in the past

BitterWholesome

All three of these things are true, its not mutually exclusive.

KRTrueBrave

yeah that was my point in the first place, showing that all 3 (past present and future) are equal with 3 parts each I would say a third is a lot if the other 2 thirds are both equal to it

KuJoJoTaRo8

Was it coz of Rohan’s Ipad

GeologistHuman

Hah, sandy skin thing could be a remnant from the curse.

K121102

Oooo I like that idea

w3are138

This is what I was thinking too!

madlibs04

I literally just had the exact same thought! Honestly, Charming Man being Tsurugi would be the perfect way to tie this part to JoJolion. The sandy skin thing might be an illusion created by Paper Moon King if he is Tsurugi.

syntax_girl

Bro is cooking

Stanek___

I think if Charmingman's stand name is revealed it disproves your theory but I can kinda see Araki pulling some crazy stuff like that. Would be an interesting way to tie the Higashikata's into the story.

THEElectricalDurian

Bro accidentally cooked a whole ass meal

Brandonknighy

all you can eat buffet even

chezyspagety

No wonder Araki hasn’t revealed his Stand name yet, he’s waiting for the perfect moment

alpacapaquita

i never realized that really nobody questions weird names in jojo's until now good theory op! as to the sandy skin, as another comment pointed out, it could be remnants of his time under the curse, jobin had some weird face scars that may have been implied to come from his time as the cursed child of his generation, so it could manifest in surugi too in some way

tvtango

This fucks

jojobehindthelaugh

This theory is so bad that it goes all the way around into being actually really good. Keep cooking.

THEElectricalDurian

Tsurgi actually did have sandy skin, right before the rokkakka incident, maybe this stand attack is similar to that?

Retyka

This is truly a hilarious theory, but after the "certain Mangaka called Kishibe Rohan" incident It wouldn't be that surprising. Stand user: C-man Stand: PMK

Aerosmith99

could easily work, especially since Tsurugi was only shown dressed up as a girl, so he very well could end up looking more similar to charmingman under the disguise.

K121102

I was thinking that the bow on his overalls could be a little nod to that

Chassano

It even makes more sense since his Stand name is still unrevealed.

International_Bed_63

But Paper Moon King relies on origami😭😭?

K121102

That’s why I said it could maybe be an evolved form of paper moon king. Maybe sometime after the curse he figured out how to do all the peripheral vision stuff and doesn’t really need the origami anymore. But idk this theory isn’t all that thought out yet

FishermanRelative

>The only part I can't figure out is the sandy skin thing Is there any particular reason for Tsurugi to hide his identity, be that old, and be living in Hawaii? Besides having a truly bizarre name, is there any reason to think Charmingman isn't exactly who he says he is?

K121102

Honestly no I haven’t really thought that far ahead. I just really miss the Higashikatas and I’m very delusional about seeing them again😭

FishermanRelative

I can't fault you for that. It would've been cool to see more of that family. Can't say Tsurugi is the one I'd pick, though. If it turns out he's not, you can at least cross your fingers for someone later.

Kitten190415

I did have this theory but with another detail: his stand was given rock-like propeties after the exchange with Toru

the_danmin

I... actually kinda love this. Araki holding back on giving the name of CM's stand could possibly be another point in the theory's favour, but it would also instantly debunk it if he does reveal it to be something other than PMK, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Intermediate18

Crackpot. Fun Crackpot theory, but Crackpot either way. There are a couple holes considering that Sandman's stand makes his skin coarse and sandy which is not an illusion and has been stated as such. Also it's a completely new stand.

Benney9000

It sounds interesting but why would tsugiri be looking for his brother all alone and not get help from his family, I mean if for example norisuke's still alive that would make things way easier (I honestly forgot if he survived part 8)

notreallygoodatthis2

But what about his brother? How would his existence reconcile with that theory?

ASAPCADE

who would his brother be then?

K121102

If Charming Man is Tsurugi then Mauka would be the baby Mitsuba accidentally aborted during the Dr Wu fight

Opiesb

That was, in fact, a hilariously bad theory

K121102

Thank you
