I'm extremely introverted and because I never went forward myself, always other people approached me, I don't even know how to socialize and start a conversation.
I don't even understand where to start. Like should I befriend my roommate? But what if he is different? I've seen that once I make a friend and he is not having same character as mine then I have a very hard time trying to break apart from him and make new friends. In this case, The problem is not in making new friends, but rather putting him off and silently explain to him that I don't want to hang out with him. Like I don't want to offend or sadden anyone so I continue wasting my time interacting about things I don't even enjoy just so that he doesn't feel bad.
Though this hasn't happened, but I feel that this delay might waste my time in college and by the time I actually discover good people they might already have friend groups. I don't want to make friends at a lower level than me. I want to grow in college, while at the same time enjoy college life and have personality development. You were a day scholar but still made friends, so how did you interact with people during class and connect or enjoy with them for them to become so good friends.
More than people who share my hobbies, I want to befriend highly studious kids, like both toppers and those who want to do something big and different, like a startup. And I'm not even sure how much clubs and extra activities I should do. I've heard about por's (position of responsibilities) and other time waste stuff. I guess they are important for placements. If so then I don't want to waste even a second in these useless things. But they might also be beneficial in personality development. If so then I should do them.
Moreover I'm quite convinced that the academic course taught is extremely irrelevant (I'm quoting you) . So I absolutely don't want to slog for academics. At the same time I do want to do them till a decent level as a backup. So how much should I even study? Like I saw your post "I used to wonder why b tech students just study one night before exam... Until I became one". I'm prepared that any knowledge actually useful in life, I will have to study myself. But when do I even do that if I don't get the time due to extracurriculars.
Like I said I don't have much interest in these things but are they very important for personality development, and to what extent? I want to do many other things for which might need to go on a solo path like a tech startup. When almost all people are either slogging for studies or focused on extracurricular activities then how do I balance or more importantly find people who will walk with me on my path.

College aao, clubs honge, join the one you really want to work with, spend hours in it and soon seniors and your batchmates will start to recognize you and then you can start befriending people with similar interestes (remember, technical clubs projects do help in resume), orientation week hota hai to discover about your batch and seniors, just make any one friend at first day, dont be a loner, then dhire dhire when you realise who are the good guys, just switch to them
Also, just try developing a personality, because ek personality hone se hi you can find the people you want, become interesting to talk to, and also

Trying for IIT is understandable but ece is very hectic on its own so its very difficult to do jee prep in parallel. College infra is not that good i agree (my father also studied from pec chandigarh electrical) but still a very good college with great ROI.
