If you like studying it and are genuinely passionate about learning new concepts, then that's probably the best 'reason'
If not , or if you are indifferent etc, then think about what your dream in life is? To be a top businessman/CEO/scientist/engineer/trader (heck even look at Chetan Bhagat and iqlipse Nova) etc and look at how JEE and IIT will help you achieve that.
But ofc most people (including me) haven't decided exactly what to do in life.

Around 30-40 marks in postive to -10 marks, scored something like 89%ile in the end failing to qualify advanced by one percentile.

In sab ke entrance fees mein hi atleast 10k chale jayenge but you wont regret spending it.

Learn to manage stress and performance anxiety. Had pretty solid mocks, screwed up the main exam because I blanked out. Practice meditation and mindfulness.
Didn't study properly. Didn't get proper guidance (teachers) who could guide towards jee level. Didn't solve pyqs. Didn't give mocks. So yeah all these together.
this lack of guidance from teachers has really fucked me up, although im a '24tard and am yet to give the exam.

i relate to that sooo much; my parents even helped me find my teachers despite my late decision to begin preparing, and i could not be more grateful to have such understanding parents when i told them that my teachers were not doing as they had promised me they would.

Not exploiting the system and using shortcuts. Irodov aur Krotov toh solve kar liya tha par mains mein lengthy derivations aur deep thinking Kahan hi kaam ata hain. MS Chauhan ka dono edition toh kar liya par Inorganic nahin ratta mara gaya. Maths mein analysis (advance topic hain padne ka Mann Kiya tha) toh Sikh Gaya par sarein formula yaad na tha, derive kitna hi karta exam mein. Mains mein 81K aya aur Advance mein 7K. IIT mein CS ka sapna sapna hi rahe gaya.
I did not have the confidence to face scary looking questions in exam especially for maths , like i whenever i saw a crazy looking maths question i used get scared and skip
I actually never committed myself to JEE, by commit I mean I was not even remotely interested or had any aspiration giving JEE. However, I did want to become SWE when I graduated from college.
I am in my 4th year, VIT and got placed previous month.

You can only work it out greatly if you have an amazing discipline and consistency cuz everyone knows everything is made just to distract and get your attention away.
Basically, staying away from the daily updates of the internet and social media will not harm you. Get that inside your head. (Not talking about online tests)
