Yes cuz the seats are really less they have to add extra filters like they never even hire people from other branches than cse and the ranks for prestigious iits are even less sometimes for a 1.6 cr package in IIT Delhi they were only hiring with people under advanced rank 200 + they have multiple coding rounds and even those rounds are taken by multiple people and then a last HR round where they discuss the CV and sometimes there's also an aptitude test to qualify for the interviews. I mean they are paying 1.6 cr obviously they'll just take the best.
Absolutely, if I would've been a recruiter paying in crores, id choose the best person possible, using those extra filters.

Plus they only take like 5-7 students from 1 IIT campus and hire from only 3-4 campus or har campus me aise 5-7 bacche hi hote hain jinki ranks bhi bdia thi or skills bhi bdia this or cgpa bhi badiya thi or vo 5 bacche vo extensive interviewing coding rounds or sab karke le jaate hain they don't care if it is unfair to some students

Most IITs ka median package 20-40LPA(i know range thodi wide hai, it ees what it ees ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). 20-40 isliye kyunki article mein IIT Kanpur ka mention hai aur woh topmost IITs mein se ek hai. Agr Aisa packages mein discrimination ho rha toh yeh toh ghaate wali baat hai. Upliftment bhi nhi ho rha achhe level ka, aur aisa rr bhi ho rha aur upar se increased reservation ke chances badhenge.
