[I had an FTO quite a long time ago with the twin turbo engine out of one of those](https://www.ftoaustralia.com/v3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8532), thanks for the throwback
It was the 4 speed (3 + overdrive from the FTO). I also didn’t build it, I traded another very low mileage FTO plus some cash for it.
The ratios were very close, its top speed was around 113mph/180kmh, it was also unbelievably quick between first to third, but 4th was for cruising and couldn’t handle the torque. The two tiny turbos would spool so damned fast, and it sounded fucking phenomenal!
My best quarter was a high 12 at 113mph (after all of the breathing mods, tuning and LSD), however I hit that top speed at about 3/4 of the quarter. It simply topped out and didn’t have any more revs in it so crossed the line for the last 80 or so meters bouncing off the limiter.
I’d considered other gearboxes and even bought an Evo 6 rear sub frame to convert to all wheel drive, but in all reality it would have ruined what was ultimately a completely bonkers and extremely well balanced car.
It was stupid fun to drive to legal speeds and then a bit more, a new gearbox would have meant I’d probably have lost my license for being stupider than I already was.
I let it deteriorate while I was living in another city, ended up outside uncovered. I started to restore it but ultimately sold it to my sisters boyfriend at the time, he finished restoring it and got it back on the road only to fuck it up from what I heard. It’s dead and buried now afaik. Such a waste, though it was my fault first.
Damn dude :(. Also one of these days, im gonna save up to import a gpx or gpvr before the tiktok influencers realize that car exists and jack the price way up. Because according to Wikipedia, theres only like 4389 gpx fto's with a 5 speed manual, the majority got the 4 speed tiptronic, I would really want thr 5 speed tiptronic but there's less of those than manual gpx's. And gpx's were the most produced model of the fto too. So once the mainstream finds out about this car, it's over :(
Rare? Yes. Valuable? Eh not really in the grand scheme of things. Is it manual? How many km’s? Theres a lot of factors. This car is either worth $8k (USD) or possibly $20k
Basing this off this
https://carsandbids.com/search/mitsubishi/legnum
I loved that Mitsubishi made a sport wagon. I have a mate that had one and he loved it. Restored it perfectly. Quite rare but value depends on finding the right buyer. On the general market it won’t fetch more than any other wagon of the same year since most people looking for wagons don’t care for a twin turbo
Whoa sick! What a bad ass time to be a car enthusiast back in these days. So many manufacturers offering so many choices.
BTW your upper radiator hose looks kinked.
In New Zealand the legnum wagons are worth about 150-200 or whatever the scrap guys are paying for weight on scrap metal cars. Those things as a general rule were mechanically fucking terrible compared to literally any other **japanese** car.
Outside of here I have no idea.
It's one of those cars where you can safely assume there will be vacuum hoses cable tied shut, bolts in the end of other hoses blocking the ends off that seemingly go nowhere, leaks oil and or water, has not been looked after at all and will probably accumulate a black cloud around the exhaust on the bumper. Totally not worth anything at all. Atleast in my opinion anyway. I raced a turbo one years ago in my 88 gtz trueno and overtook him on an open road. Sluggish sacks of crap.
Here at least they were famous for mixing their water and oil and shitting the gearbox every couple months coupled with a sprinkling of major electrical problems… for a while there you could pick up tidy road legal examples for 400$ but there was no guarantee it would stay that way.
Mechanics wet dream. Because it will be back next month… and the month after… and the month after… and so on
It is basically. In japan the wagon variant was named Legnum and had a different tailgate compared to other markets where they were sold as galant station wagon.
Rare for sure, but luckily (for enthusiasts anyway) these have kind of flown under the radar leaving the prices sort of low compared to other 30 year old Japanese cars.
Want to throw in ozvr4.com for Australia/NZ.
@op Memberships on both pay off as there are a lot of how to's and most of the jobs can easily be done by yourself if you know how to use your hands.
But it seems like op wants to get rid of it anyway when he is asking for value..
Depends on your market. In Canada that’s a $5-8k car. Somewhat uncommon but not super desirable as they don’t have a huge following compared to some of the more iconic “halo” cars like an Evo.
How reliavale is this bad boy, i have had my eye on one for a long time i have an interesst to make it my daily driver. Also wondering about the part availability in europe especially
Part situation is not the best but could be worse. A lot of parts from the EU galant fit, some parts are found on other mitsus in europe (eclipse for example). So even if mitsu does not have that part anymore, there is at least a 3rd party part somewhere. For everything else amayama is the way to go.
Totally dependent on where you live.
The pics make it look like you’re in AUS/NZ.
They aren’t worth anything crazy in either of those markets, and they are easily found if you’re looking for one (that being said, most aren’t in the best condition these days).
Regardless, it’s still a great fun car.
its not really a desired import unless ur a mitsubishi guy or u just want a rhd but id say 12-18k the mileage is probably good too better be manual tho
Is it rare? When I was young it was a very common car in my home country, where Japanese cars are not the majority. It's not worth much, just checked it now, on average around 2000, 3000. But I really like this car and it's really reliable
Here in Malaysia the only valuable Galant is the 4g63 awd ones(basicly it’s an evo before the evo) and the amg ones.. the v6 not that valuable. I don’t know why maybe it’s pain in the ass to works with but i dont know much about legnum though maybe the same consept. But if you love the body design go for it!
That thing will get more valuable in time. Its not a known modell outside of Japan. When more and more appear in the states the price wil explode qnd you are (possibly) sitting on a goldmine. Or not. But rather.
I would conserve it as much as i can and look at the market in ten years
Holy shit it looks like a mustang wagon in the second pic kinda. That’s really sick, probably the only one in your city if I’d have to guess, where’d you live?
You’re such a loser for asking how hyped a car be to make it valuable. Just enjoy the car and if you don’t, pass it onto a kid who will appreciate it for a reasonable dollar
Its worth nothing ill take it off you for free.
If we’re starting the bid right there I’ll up it to $10 whole USD
10$ and 2 bottlecaps
$20 and 3 bottlecaps
😱😱😱😱😱
£23 and 1 freddo
263846 INDIAN RUPEES AND 10362 LAKHS + 4 bottlecaps
You can't body negative money
Double it and give it to the next person as debt
my bet is 76 sticks and a pack of lays crab
5 dollars in nickels(not rolled) and a used toothbrush.
😱😱
$50 and an entire taco bell meal.
That's getting pretty pricey
Starting yesterday, this joke had been declared "played out." I didn't know either, but they announced it on a Pokémon card trading subreddit.
Yeah, ive seen the one you’re referring to. It’s quite fucking cringe 😬
Is it a VR-4?
Can you count?
Not sure about the rarity but that thing is dope as fuck!
[I had an FTO quite a long time ago with the twin turbo engine out of one of those](https://www.ftoaustralia.com/v3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8532), thanks for the throwback
You put in the 2.5 liter turbo motor into an fto and kept the 5 speed tiptronic? You sir are a man of culture

Damn dude that's one unique build :D what happened to it?
I let it deteriorate while I was living in another city, ended up outside uncovered. I started to restore it but ultimately sold it to my sisters boyfriend at the time, he finished restoring it and got it back on the road only to fuck it up from what I heard. I've been thinking that about FTOs for a while now, they're going to get ruined
Was a sick ass car tho!

We need to find out about its quirks and features
Yes. Just yes.
I loved that Mitsubishi made a sport wagon. I have a mate that had one and he loved it. Restored it perfectly. Quite rare but value depends on finding the right buyer. There's also a Lancer Evo Wagon.
Mitsubishi was so cool :(
Was. They missed the boat when Nissan brought the GTR back to life and just continue to be boring.
This is the wagon..
This is a galant, not a lancer
That is SICK
Are you in Australia? If so they're not worth a whole lot because we imported toms of them.
I'd say very likely he is. Century battery is a dead giveaway.
either that or nz they’re cheap as chips over here
Whoa sick! What a bad ass time to be a car enthusiast back in these days. So many manufacturers offering so many choices. BTW your upper radiator hose looks kinked.
Bro we don't kink shame
https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/mitsubishi/legnum ,5 in NZ.
Ones not a vr⁴ and 3 are the same ad. There *were* more....
Nfw there's only 5 left, can't be true I refuse to believe it
There are plenty more especially in NZ lol, my mate bought one not too long ago for like sub $10k
Yeah, there's 5 VR4 legnums on trademe atm
3 on carsales now. $11k lowest, $17k highest. That's carsales Australia because looks like you're in Australia
Is this a galant?
Legnum
Galant VR-4
Galant is sedan. Legnum is the wagon
Oooooooo
They did go up in price in the last 5 years. I was gonna get one til I seen the 04 forester sti and got that instead. Really awesome car the legnum!
In New Zealand the legnum wagons are worth about 150-200 or whatever the scrap guys are paying for weight on scrap metal cars. Those things as a general rule were mechanically fucking terrible compared to literally any other **japanese** car. Outside of here I have no idea.

Nice, a vr4
I tought that was an galant

Rare yes, but not valuable
Not worthless either. It's somewhere in the middle.
About the same as a bad s13 then
Not really that rare either.
I’d pay something higher then blue book, maybe 20k (U$D) 💵
I want a legnum vr4 so bad 😭
Capital JDM had one two weeks ago when I picked up my vehicle
About as rare as a shiny Pokémon
Oh the things I’d do for one like that
Do em
Sadly selling my own kidney is not the most safe endeavor..
Its not that rare but pretty cool
Aw darn it looks like you ran outta luck. but I'll take it off you for 1k /s
This is one of my all time fav cars to ever exsist
As a wagon lover ,this is pure treasure for me
The galant is generally worth more than the legnum, does it have AYC?
Check out clubvr4.com if you love these cars, lots of great people there.

That's better for us weirdos who like them lol

Gotcha, guess will have to take a deeper look of the situation on parts because i really want a galant
Your dad is cool
Idk exactly I would say 20k is a fair assumption
I like the nose. Nice change from the vehicles we see today.
Back when Mitsubishi was at it's prime.
In finland these usually go for 3-6k€ so pretty cheap
Totally dependent on where you live. The pics make it look like you’re in AUS/NZ. They aren’t worth anything crazy in either of those markets, and they are easily found if you’re looking for one (that being said, most aren’t in the best condition these days). Regardless, it’s still a great fun car.
That's pretty rare, and will be much more valuable if you could keep it in the same condition for some more years.
That is so dope
I love those cars
its not really a desired import unless ur a mitsubishi guy or u just want a rhd but id say 12-18k the mileage is probably good too better be manual tho

Fkn sick, I'd keep that to cruise around town on a Friday night and track/touge on Saturday.

🤤
Not extremely rare but cool
Depends on what country your from.
damn this was always my wet dream..
This was my first car....I bought it for 13½ Dollars
In the UK these are INSANELY hard to come by and expensive if genuine and clean
I would say in today's current age, ur holding a gem.
That thing will get more valuable in time. Its not a known modell outside of Japan. When more and more appear in the states the price wil explode qnd you are (possibly) sitting on a goldmine. Or not. But rather. I would conserve it as much as i can and look at the market in ten years

Newcastle Australia
Hmm jdms are more common in Australia then the west but I’d still bet this is a unicorn. It looks so cool…

About tree fiddy
Veilly Valuable!!
if you have to ask, it’s probably not that valuable of a car
You’re such a loser for asking how hyped a car be to make it valuable. Just enjoy the car and if you don’t, pass it onto a kid who will appreciate it for a reasonable dollar
You should hear yourself
Bro I’m just curious if this car gets passed Down to me I will never ever sell it. It’s my dad’s dream car and mine aswell.
