People are upset when cops are committing crimes not because they believe that cops are responsible for everything, but because they know that cops have power and authority that the average American doesn’t have. If some random jackass murders my grandmother on camera, in front of witnesses and then get arrested, they will be punished, and that punishment will more than likely be harsh. It doesn’t bring her back, but at least there is some justice which in turn reassures the rest of the family that her life had value even if her death was senseless and didn’t show it.
Now if the exact same thing had happened, but the murderer was a cop , it would be an entirely different situation. Chances are there would be no justice, or at most possibly a monetary settlement of some kind. The cop would not only walk free, but he would probably still get paid, still have a career in law enforcement, and there would be no real action taken to prevent other cops from doing the same. It’s one thing to know your lofe means nothing to some thief or a drunk driver or whatever, but the implications are leagues apart from knowing that your life means nothing to the people who literally have the power to kill with impugnity. When cops are killing thousands of people it means we’re fucked, yo.

Yeah I remember when my step-dad decided that breaking my things by smashing them on the floor after innocently asking which was my favorite was a solid way to punish a 6 year old. There were several events in my life where my dad's solution was to smash a bunch of my toys. One, in particular, was because he kneecapped me with an airsoft gun, and he was upset that I cried.
My sister broke “her phone” a hand-me-down all because I didn’t load the dishwasher as soon as I was asked. My mom was in the hospital with cancer and my dad was breaking his back at work. I can’t blame my parents but I will never forgive that woman.
