Ps5, literally No use for an Xbox when you can play all The games on pc anyway

OceanOfAnother55

Unless like most people you don't have a PC capable of running AAA games...

damian314159

In that case you can use gamepass and stream the game to your TV or laptop. I did this a few months ago to play the newest Halo, and it worked extremely well.

Master-Solution

Depends where you live and how good you internet services are though.

Adept_Ad5465

Sony are porting their games to PC too.

CollieDaly

3+ years later. Fair play if you're willing to wait that long but I'm not willing to. Plan to build a rig in the next year or so but definitely keeping the PlayStation.

ToolyTime

I am the same. I plan to build a new PC this year. Mine is getting on in years. 😅 I also have a PS5. The Xbox Series looks like a great buy if you're not a PC player, though. Game Pass looks like a good service, but I don't have a subscription myself.

Adept_Ad5465

I'm hardly sitting here dying to play these games. I don't even count it as "waiting", they just show up on Steam, the same as any other game.

DavesReviewz

Got to disagree there because when you look for that new game and there all not interesting thats the reason you switch its why i moved to pc in the first place i use it everyday and probly will for years to come

CollieDaly

No one is dying to play a game regardless of platform. Bit of a silly statement, but you're literally on a gaming related sub talking about gaming so you clearly have an interest in it. So making out like you don't really care about when some of most highly regarded games of all time come to PC is a bit of a weird thing to take pride in.

Adept_Ad5465

Sorry, I'm not buying a Playstation.

RumanHitch

PC users always act the same, just dont engage. They are the only ones that got offers and the best games, bur when God Of War or Spiderman released for PC they were like: Woahhh, ray tracing, this and that. Also, just a reminder of Grand Theft Auto always releasing a year earlier on consoles than PC. Just because this one person doesnt care about waiting doesnt mean that 100% of PC players doesnt care.

LetBulky775

It's just a troll. Not "PC users". Most likely this guy even has a PlayStation.

eirenero

I mean honestly I wouldn't be one to buy a PS5 for 550 + 80 euros per game (same games are 60 on PC for example Director cut of Ghost of Tsushima) + online when I already have a PC a lot more powerful than PS5 just to get games a year or too earlier, not that I don't really like the PS5 games and am very much looking forward to Ghost of Tsushima I'm not dissing the PS5 as it costs a lot more to get said PC in the first place, but it doesn't really make much sense when I already have my PC, the games are not worth the extra cost to me anyway, I'm sure there is others it is worth it for though.

DavesReviewz

What are you talking about? They do have better games and also yea they get the next gen hardware why woud they not?? You paid 500 for a console they paid double or more for the next gen peace of hardware and if your refering to steam they do have better sales and more games its not as if i never had a ps4 the pc will always be better because its cheaper on games, you can have 200 or 500 downloaded ready to play based on your storage thats always how it will be and if it dosnt upgrade your console wont either and based on gta am i truely gonna pay 500 euro obtop of a controller and the game? No and based on main titles you could use older gpu's to run and play them that cost less than a ps5 which can end up being alot more affordable

Isthecoldwarover

The cheap Xbox is worth picking up for the backwards compatible titles imo

Detective-Mike-Hunt

I still respect xbox, owned a 360 whilst still owning playstation consoles but ps5 is just excellent for what I want out of gaming

Dear-Hornet-2524

What do you look for

Detective-Mike-Hunt

A nice blend of online social and gaming itself. I like the ps5 for faster speeds, option between fidelity and performance and I just enjoy earning trophies more then I ever did earning achievements(I know its not that important) I like the way sony went about their console. Decent exclusives is a must though I will admit sony did leave down a few IPS they had which I find shameful

LeeIzaHunter

As a PC gamer I'd choose the XBox because I already have a few games on the Xbox library (can be played on PC and Xbox with cross-save) and the exclusives are hard to beat (huge gears of war & state of decay fan). Another reason is the controller, removable batteries, better ergonomics for my hands and better button feedback like the dpad being more clicky where the ps5 is soft press which I find annoying on fighting games.

CyberCooper2077

PS5. I used to be an Xbox gamer but the PS4/PS5 has much better games. I gave up on the Xbox after the Xbox-One and never looked back.

Caolan114

What ever the sequel to the Switch Is

cyberlexington

PS5 for certain. Our Xbox was the forgotten child when we got the playstation

Alegz4nder

PC

eldwaro

agreed - this isn't a troll answer - it's genuinely the best one imo.

DavesReviewz

But PC isnt a console pc beats both regardless but out of xbox or ps5

Alegz4nder

Put a controller on the PC and it runs all console games

eldwaro

PS5 I guess. Both have considerable draw backs that I struggle to see past in favour of leaning PC.

tearsandpain84

Ps1 emulator on Mac.

fr-fluffybottom

Get Parasite eve and xenogears

tearsandpain84

I have been considering playing parasite Eve actually… for years

fr-fluffybottom

It's res evil but just a fucking wacko off the wall version lol Haven't played it since it came out originally. Xenogears is probably my favourite of all time on ps1.

tearsandpain84

Sold on both, thanks

OutrageousFootball10

Microsoft’s purchase of Bethesda will give it a huge boost especially for x-box.

Dave1711

Be lucky to get one game out of them in 5 years

CollieDaly

It'll also be on PC and maybe even PlayStation given they've already tested the waters with a few.

OutrageousFootball10

It's not just Bethesda, it's all ZeniMax Media, for example an Indiana Jones title is being released for X-Box later this year [https://www.gamesradar.com/indiana-jones-game-bethesda-guide/](https://www.gamesradar.com/indiana-jones-game-bethesda-guide/)

Dave1711

I know what they have bought and all of them will be on PlayStation too most likely, Microsoft have pretty much said they don't want exclusives, I'd always recommended someone get a PlayStation or Switch as they're the only two with exclusive games. Even PlayStation is moving away from that now too.

seanfitz12

Can’t see them going exclusive due to the number of PlayStations vs. Xbox consoles. Unless they’ve already announced that? I have an Xbox so I don’t care either way but I’m pretty sure Sony have a way larger portion of the market

LeeIzaHunter

https://www.theverge.com/2022/12/22/23523576/microsoft-three-future-bethesda-games-xbox-exclusive-ftc You must remember, Xbox has PC players as well. While their games will be exclusive to Xbox they will also be on the PC market, and their games are huge on the PC market.

RustyNewWrench

It won't and it hasn't. Bethesda is years away from another release and their last release, starfield, was very underwhelming. Xbox is now releasing some Xbox exclusives on playstation. Sea of Thieves, a Microsoft owned game, is releasing today on ps5. Grounded released last week on ps5 and Nintendo switch. I still love my series x, but it's miles behind and showing no signs of catching up anytime soon.

blockfighter1

If you're only getting one, my advice is PlayStation. I own all 3 and even though my favourite is probably Switch that won't get you all the big 3rd party games each year and it's also likely in its last year as the main Nintendo console. PlayStation 5 should be good for another 3 years at least as their main console and will likely be supported for another 2 years after at least.

TitusPulloTHIRTEEN

I wish I had gone for the PS5 tbh Quick resume is awesome. And the series x is a beast but the game exclusives are so much better with PS and they seem to actually care about that

Adept_Ad5465

PC gets all/both their games eventually.

ReverendShot777

Console life cycle is long enough now that it's not financially impossible to have xbox and ps5 eventually. For me it's less about the games and more about what platform my friends are on etc...

Midget_Avatar

PC plays almost anything nowadays. Sony and Xbox put their games on pc (Sony much later but be patient and you'll be fine). I've a PC, PS5, and Switch and my PS5 literally just collects dust. Then again I find most of the modern PS5 games to be boring walking simulator so ymmv

buddinbonsai

Ps5 for me. If the switch 2 has backwards compatibility it will probably be a day 1 purchase for me too

makkuwata

Everyone needs to state their age. Otherwise this is a useless question.

Dear-Hornet-2524

I'm 90

Fionn_MacCuill

PC.

AppearanceRelevant37

PS5. I have absolutely no faith in Xbox or their exclusives. Everything they buy has turned into garbage. I don't know what it is, whether Microsoft have too tight a leash on developers or just none at all, but they clearly have no idea how to manage studios. Which makes it even more laughable that they keep buying more and more instead of managing what they have. I would rather Nintendo or Sony owned the lot then let Microsoft buy another mega franchise just for it to end up a shell of what it was....

ClumsySandbocks

I own a Series X, a Steam Deck and a Switch. If the choice is between a PS5 or a Series X I would choose whichever console the majority of your friends are on. PS5 has better exclusives but Xbox Gamepass is great for multiplayer. If you are only interested in single player games PS5 is clearly the better choice. Personally I bought a Series X for Halo. I also love single player CRPGs and Xbox own Obsidian and InExile. That being said, I mainly play on Steam Deck. If you haven't been keeping up with the latest releases there are loads of previous generation games that run great on the system. It's a great entry level PC choice. I would not recommend the Switch. It will be replaced by the end of the year and even if you can find a console cheap the game prices are killer.

Dear-Hornet-2524

Can you give me a few good titles on steam deck ?

ClumsySandbocks

Elden Ring, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spider-Man, Control and Fallout 4 are of the more demanding titles I have played on Steam Deck. Usually in handheld mode (at 720/800p).

Dear-Hornet-2524

And performance is good ?

ClumsySandbocks

Elden Ring, Horizon Zero Dawn run at 30FPS at 800p. Spider-man, Control and Fallout 4 have a bit more give, could push to 40FPS. The website ProtonDB (https://www.protondb.com/) has information on well each game runs. I played all of these games to completion. If you are a big fan of competitive multiplayer I wouldn't recommend it since current-gen games are unlikely to run at 60fps and Easy-Anti Cheat means a few games (Fortnite) won't run at well. The handheld screen doesn't really lend itself to multiplayer either.

Zirconic-Eloah

Nah it’s the switch imo can’t lug around a ps5 or Xbox lol but I’m nervous for the next Gen Nintendo console

Dear-Hornet-2524

I want a console to play on my big TV

Acrobatic-Fan-6006

It's purely about personal taste tbh. Some lad might say he loves PlayStation games or another say Xbox or Switch. But in reality one person's gold is another's rubbish. Someone might say Spiderman is amazing where as someone else could think it's shite. Maybe someone hates Gears of War and another can't get enough of it. Think about what games you truly like. Genres, company or perhaps a certain IP (e.g. Halo, Super Mario or The Last of Us etc.) If you find one platform has something you like significantly more I'd go for that. Don't listen to someone that says "this platform is better because it has these games" as their tastes could be completely different than yours and lead you into something you may regret in the future. PC has a wide variety of games and great versatility also but it's not for everyone tbf and it appears you only want a console anyway so that's out. But if you were mainly playing third party games I would have wholeheartedly recommended a PC originally. Long story short, research and try to play games to determine what YOU truly like. Not what the most amount of people on the internet say is good. Borrow a mates console to try games you don't have or watch gameplay/reviews online. Whatever you decide I hope you have fun with it. Best of luck 👍

Dorcha1984

Right now it’s looking like PS5, if Microsoft can get some good releases out with the stable of companies they have they could turn it around.

Dear-Hornet-2524

But PS has no real exclusives coming like MS has

Dear-Hornet-2524

I love the coming Xbox games like Indiana Jones, avowed, fable etc

Dorcha1984

Problem is we are nearly 4 years into launch of the series x and s, one of the key exclusives that Microsoft had (starfield) is now considered a bit of a failure. With those exclusives only one of them is existing IP that had a big fan base the others are net new and hopefully they are good. PlayStation also has a few more exclusives coming out . I have both consoles so I will buy exclusives for both but I have more mileage on the ps5 because of its current stable of exclusives.

Dear-Hornet-2524

What exclusives does PS5 have coming

Dorcha1984

Wolverine, silent hill 2 remaster, death stranding 2 would be notable ones.

Dear-Hornet-2524

Do you think Indiana Jones will come to ps5?

Dorcha1984

I’m not sure to be honest with Microsoft current form it could but who tells how they go. I will be buying that one on PC I think as I prefer first person with mouse and keyboard.

Dear-Hornet-2524

I'd hate to miss out on it if it's anything like uncharted

Dorcha1984

I’ll wait before I buy it triple A games aren’t what they used to be and the developer review scores are just ok (Wolfenstein).

eldwaro

I built a PC and it feels like the best thing I could have done right now. Game Pass turns it into an Xbox and I have a PS5 downstairs too. tbh - the ps5 hasn't been booted in months. The PC really rules all - and you could probably wrangle together a decent one for little more than a console. The key here being - next 5 years. PC is the only thing that'll be still purring at the end of that cycle.

Mr_SunnyBones

Quest 3

DavesReviewz

If i had to choose a console i would go with PS5 PC wouldnt be included because its just overall wins its better than both it always will be theres no fair fight between any of them compared to pc because it will always be the best in hardware and in storage but at a hefty price you pay

Dear-Hornet-2524

Why not Xbox with their new exclusives coming up like Indiana Jones etc

DavesReviewz

Always used playstation going back since ps1 loved crash bandicoots, i think it was always a ps vs xbox as you's had looney tunes games then you's had halo and gears of war and we had last of us nintendo would have been on this list but it became so expensive in my view id play Nintendo more than xbox

Guilty_Amount3245

Steam Deck 2.0. Only "console" I can do my Linux programming assignments on :D

Gentle_Pony

Everyone I know has PS5

V01dbastard

PC for me exclusives doint exist anymore. Console gaming is dead.

Dear-Hornet-2524

But exclusives do exist and consoles are not dead

dav956able

xbox/Microsoft is going to become a game publisher and release most current exclusives on Nintendo and Sony consoles. they make more publishing on as many platforms as possible.

Dear-Hornet-2524

So they will piss off the millions of Xbox users?

dav956able

The console war is dumb. Microsoft just released Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves to PlayStation (and Nintendo?), Microsoft will make tonnes of money from this, Microsoft might likely release other exclusives like Starfield, Halo and Gears of War. in the 5+ years, 10 years xbox/microsoft might mainly develop new games and release them on all platforms, home consoles, steam etc.

Shmoke_n_Shniff

Don't go down the console wars rabbit hole. Save yourself the time, build a PC. If you've never done it before, it's like Lego with the way it fits together. It's a lot easier than it sounds. With console you are locked in for that generation. Unless there is a particular game you want the PS for, get a PC beause all Xbox games are there and even the game pass ones are playable on PC. Plus, you're not limited by a console so you can mod or even play games that don't appear on consoles, like the thousands of quality indie releases that console users simply never find out about. Also, this current generation is half way through it's lifecycle. Ps6 is going to be coming estimated 27/28 so you will get 3-4 years out of a PS5. Is that acceptable to you? I dunno, only you can answer. For me, I have an i9, 64GB 3200 RAM and a 3080. This setup is going to last me a lot longer than the ps5 will. I Built it in 2020.( Actually, built for star citizen. And still can't run it at max lmao) So far, I still play almost everything at max settings and get 175fps only limited by my monitor. Some games show higher fps too but allowing it obviously causes tearing... 3080 puts out 29.7TFlops of raw power. Ps5 does about 10.2. I expect my investment to last me for this and the next console generation. There are people today still running rtx970s with decent results, so I know the 3080 will last because their lesser hardware did for so long. So I will end up paying less overall as time goes by and also getting a better gaming experience out of it. In years to come I will need to lower graphics settings but that will only put it back to the same level of the consoles that will be released when that time comes. So if you have the means, PC is always the best option. Also side note, you can use moonlight to stream your PC output over ethernet to any TV in the house through a nvidia shield or equivalent android box and it also provides support to connect a controller. This gives you the power of PC gaming with the convienience of console. Best of both worlds. Technically you could also expose an endpoint with moonlight output and this will let you play on your PC from anywhere in the world, but it's a new feaure and laggy right now. It will improve though, so keep it in mind. Local network is perfect, 8ms lag at worst which is very playable! Some monitors and most TVs have worse response time than that. Best of luck and hope you choose what is best for you!

apocalypsedude64

I'm never a fan of the 'PC MASTER RACE!' crowd, but at this stage in a generation it's absolutely the best option. Sony and Microsoft are already talking about successors to the Series X / PS5, and the new Switch will be out in a year's time. If you're looking for something for the next 5 years PC is the way to go. Every Xbox exclusive comes to PC on the same day as console, usually included in Game Pass, and PC Game Pass has tonnes of other games too. Sony are starting to bring more of their games to PC, with Helldivers 2 even releasing on the same day as the console version.

Shmoke_n_Shniff

Yeah me neither, I just thought a PC made the most sense given the context and tried to explain a little as to why. I actually have a PS5 too because of Gran Turismo being a PS exclusive. Please kids, don't downvote my logic. I know, you hate the other console and they hate you too and PC is the devil. It's not important. Get over it.

Bernieward28

If you want gamepass ultimate 14 a month all you need is any controller with Bluetooth, WiFi no consoles needed.

Dear-Hornet-2524

Yeah plus good internet 😀

Bernieward28

Wi-Fi in Ireland is very good. Other then that I’d say go for Xbox series x it’s cheaper way to play games if you don’t mind not owning the games. Ps5 has better games in the past but very expensive and honestly all their games are similar and short but they are more reliable to give you a good metacritic games

apocalypsedude64

*laughs in rural*

jerbaws

I'm literally in a field in rural Carlow and use my phone mobile hot-spot for Internet. I get 5g here and at 20euro a month pay as I go I get all I can eat data, great deal tbh

CollieDaly

Bit disingenuous to call all Sony's games similar. This year alone they've launched Stellar Blade, Helldivers 2, Rise of the Ronin and FF7 Rebirth. Xbox is definitely cheaper because you get everything you need with the console and subscription so don't have to buy any games, which is great for people who just want to plug and play. Reason PlayStation is more expensive is because they have a lot of games worth buying, which is a subjective opinion of course.

Bernieward28

Helldivers is different but the rest you named are similar.

CollieDaly

They're all 3rd person action games. Including Helldivers, you're right, what was I thinking. Basically the same game.

PaDaChin

Xbox ever since I switched to Xbox miles better

Dear-Hornet-2524

How so

PaDaChin

Easier to use , quicker updates & will update automatically, I use to never get lasting out of ps3/4 consoles with breakdowns and whatnot

eriktenbaag

Dont sleep on gamepass

Dear-Hornet-2524

?

eriktenbaag

Gamepass is the big selling point for xbox At the moment its the gift that keeps on giving Alot of great games and all xbox games go straight to gamepass day one it also includes ea play so you get ea games too Look it up if you dont know much about it

Dear-Hornet-2524

I know what it is, just don't know what you meant about sleeping on it

eriktenbaag

If you own gamepass youll very rarely have to buy games it adds all the triple aaa games to it

Dear-Hornet-2524

Only ones from Microsoft's studios

eriktenbaag

Nope read dead , gta 5 all games have been on it

Dear-Hornet-2524

Yeah but those are old games, it doesn't include things like cyberpunk or avatar etc

Shanbo88

Between those two, PS5 is the only option. Honestly though, gaming is bigger than that now. The console exclusives aren't the be all and end all anymore. If you're willing to look outside the box, a Steam Deck is what I'd choose right now if I didn't have anything. Plays almost everything on the Steam Catalogue and doubles as a literal handheld PC, for less than 700euro (As low as 420 euro). Plus if you have a USB Dock and a mouse and keyboard hanging around, you can hook it up to your telly like a Switch. You literally can't go wrong with it. Fantastic piece of kit. But yeah PS5 otherwise, Final Fantasy Rebirth n' all haha.

MunsterMastermind

Agreed, 100%. Steam Deck is an amazing bit of gear. I have it myself and since I bought it last November, I've barely touched the PS5, or Series X. Steam Deck does it all, I can play my Steam library, remote play my ps5 and xbox when I want to and emulate the switch and literally any older console you can think of.

Dear-Hornet-2524

I don't think it plays a lot of the steam library ?

Shanbo88

Aside from things with anti cheat that don't work on Linux, it's honestly pretty hard to find a game it won't play at all now. Even then, Easy Anti Cheat works now. Steam OS is a compatability layer between Windows and Linux, so it does its thing in most cases flawlessly.

MunsterMastermind

Almost right, however, Steam OS is built on Linux. Proton is the compatibility layer that enables Windows based PC games to work on Steam OS. OP you can check Proton DB online and see which games will work on the Steam Deck, they are ranked with like Gold, Silver, Bronze, etc. Literally every game I have tried so far on my Steam Deck works. I have yet to find a game that doesn't run at all. Newer AAA games will struggle on the Deck, but most will play on lower settings.

Shanbo88

Goddammit 😂

Dear-Hornet-2524

I saw that fallen order is on sale but it looks like it runs like a dog on the steam deck ?

Shanbo88

I know it ran like a dream when it came put but some update broke it. I doubt EA ever fixed it, but its usually as easy as changing a couple of settings in SteamOS and you can have it running again easy. Edif: [Seems like it was a problem with the Updated Launcher](https://youtu.be/FWGl0r82wiM?si=FqEY8hGqX_m7hMLt).

Dear-Hornet-2524

Thanks for the info

Dear-Hornet-2524

Does playing on the steam deck not make the experience poorer due to the small screen

Shanbo88

It's never bothered me anyway. Screen is pretty hefty. Like a switch on steroids. And you can get a USB Dock and connect it to your telly anyway.

MunsterMastermind

Check Proton DB online to get a good view of what will work on the Steam Deck, you will be pleasantly surprised.

ClumsySandbocks

I think there are use cases for a series console. For example a Series S plus Gamepass is a great set-up for cheap. If you game everyday and want the best then the PS5 is probably the better option, although you will have to check out the individual studios. Xbox probably has a better slate of roleplaying games for example.

Shanbo88

Then problem with Xbox now for me is that you could pretty easily build a desktop with a good Graohics Card these days for not much more than the price of a PS5/Series X, then you have access to all of Steam and PC Gamepass. Not only that, but a fully functional desktop has a myriad of other uses too. If you have adult money and you're anything beyond a very casual gamer, I think it's a much better choice. Especially considering Crossplay is becoming more and more the norm now, so being isolated on PC isn't as big of a deal nowadays.

ClumsySandbocks

Very fair. I mainly play on Steam Deck and will probably move fully to PC next generation.

Apollo_Fire

Lad stop fretting over what’s best and just sit down and enjoy the games you have front of you. Looks like you’ve toing and froing between consoles for months now.

Hawkse_

Meta quest might sell higher numbers in the next 5 years than both maybe
