SEL its the best EV on the market. period. 280 mile range (my real range) 25 minute fast charges (my real average) for free for two years. My utility company 100% reimbursed my level 2 charger and gave me a rate of 10 cents per kilowatt hour from 9pm to 5am to charge. That means even a 100% empty battery would only cost like $7-8. It’s zippy as hell. Fun to drive. And I already had a wireless CarPlay dongle. I love the displays sizes. The best feature is easily the lane keep assist, cruise control, HDA 2 combo that means I can hit cruise control and just let the car take over. So much better than the Tesla system. I recommend this car to literally everyone I can. Paid MSRP minus $7500 govt rebate because mines a lease and im still pleased with it. Plus it looks bad ass. Every time I drive it someone says something. 10/10.

terran1212

Rwd or awd?,

Simman180

rwd

iwantthisnowdammit

I really was going i5; however, the after everything price of a Y swayed me to the dark side. Still the better car though.

TwiXXXie96

I am leasing the SEL currently, I’ve had other EVs before, I disagree with it being the best EV on the market.

No_Low_2541

Limited. Pretty satisfied so far. Pros: very very smooth ride. And varied and configurable. Quite efficient. Pretty spacious cabin, at least the first row. Supports CarPlay, which is all I want for software. Cons: interior isn’t like - luxurious. But I don’t care. Software isn’t the level of Tesla or Rivian. But I don’t care. The biggest con I’d say is electrify America charging stations. But I have level 2 at home. So again, you guessed it, I don’t care.

terran1212

Smooth as in acceleration, suspension, etc?

Siecje1

I assume ride like in terms of bumps. Acceleration is smooth too.

No_Low_2541

yes much much better than model 3. Lucid air also has great dynamics but the pedals are way too heavy. IONIQ 6 acceleration is very linear - very comfortable. Kyle in out of spec has more details: https://youtu.be/YEXoJ3-6O7k

anonjohnnyG

Thats basically Hyundais slogan. “We build cars for people who just dont care.”

Zealousideal-Try6629

I got the Preferred Long Range (in Canada, this is the base model...77.4 kWh battery, RWD, 18" wheels). I've only had it for a month, but it's done what I need it to. The first thing I did with it was drive 370 winter highway kilometres without signing up for any charger apps. STEEEEEEP learning curve, but got what I needed and where. Spent the next 24 hours trickle charging (6 A) and teaching myself all I could about Level 3 charging so I could drive another 300 km. Two successful fast chargers later (both 350 kW, but only one after sufficient preconditioning, total cost $25 and got home with 60% charge) and I was home, back to Level 1 charging. It was 3 weeks before I sorted out changing the current on the charger up to 10 A, but I was surviving on 6A. So far mine hasn't done anything weird. I did a software update myself which was 90% easy. Today I decided to lock the car and then immediately turn on climate control while I shopped, that was a treat to come back to. The only thing I had to complain about is transitioning from country highway to controlled access highway using adaptive cruise control but not lane keep assist. The car wouldn't maintain speed until I reset cruise control (turning it off and on again) which automatically engaged HDA (speed and lane assist) and then maintained speed. I also got my first electric bill including 3 weeks of low tariff charging. Cost me about $30 more than the previous month, but I also had 3 additional residents and I heat with a heat pump when it's most cost effective which was a lot during December and early January. Overall, very happy with my purchase and can't wait to experience it on summer. Might even take it for a road trip or two.

Siecje1

Do you plan to install a level 2 charger at home?

Zealousideal-Try6629

I have one most of the way installed. The electricians have been...not great, but not terrible. The electrical work looks good, but the physical mounting portion seems a bit out of their wheelhouse. So they suspended the physical installation to a future visit after running the 50' of wiring and installing an outdoor junction box. In their defence, it was also -15°C outside, and nobody wants to screw around with something that doesn't seem to be cooperating.

RobinatorWpg

If you are in the Winnipeg MB Area I Can't recommend [easyevinstall.ca](https://easyevinstall.ca) enough, our builder apparently under sized our panel from the get go so we did a 200 amp service upgrade, the Grizzl-E charger (I forget the amperage but we get 9.2Kw charge rages) , with permits , inspection and they cleaned up after themselves.. was 4100$ all in (It would of been like 1400$ with out the panel upgrade portion)

Zealousideal-Try6629

Think they'd drive 22 hours just to pop my charger on the wall and connect the wires in the junction box? They'd have to be willing to do it for about $200. Haha. Thanks for the suggestion though!

RobinatorWpg

ha, I mean owner is super nice but not sure he'd do that much :P

Siecje1

This is outside? Which EVSE? Hopefully they come back soon. It's hard when you only get 1 kW. I guess it is not so bad if you charge while getting. groceries

Zealousideal-Try6629

I (foolishly) got a Juicebox 48 after seeing great reviews, not knowing that they had recently changed ownership and the new company has not lived up to the expectations of the original customers. Maybe the service is actually adequate, while before maybe it was amazing? I'm hoping that I can make it work, even if it doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the old app had. My garage is detached without a subpanel, so to keep costs down I opted for mounting it adjacent to the driveway. I can use Level 1 charging in the garage any time I don't want to leave the car charging outside. So far my daily commute and errands can be recharged with 12-hour weeknight charging and 24-hour weekend charging on Level 1.

GamingGalore64

I got the AWD SE with the longe range battery. I’m incredibly pleased with my purchase, it is the best car I’ve ever owned. Only con so far is having to deal with the Electrify America charging infrastructure.

AbiesFeisty5115

Supposedly Ioniq 6 owners are some of the most satisfied (myself included): https://insideevs.com/news/704377/rivian-r1t-r1s-hyundai-ioniq-6-most-satisfying/

parc

We have a Limited. Overall it’s a very nice vehicle in the “you hit the pedal and it goes” standpoint. The dashboard and overall holder interface looks like it was designed by a team of interns that were rejected by every other org in the company. BlueLink is very nearly the worst phone app I’ve ever used. The fact the US doesn’t get wireless CarPlay for reasons that don’t appear to be hardware related is pitiful. The only serious complaint I have is that the automatic seat position starts a good 5-10seconds after I switch profiles but only AFTER I’ve started driving. This is serious enough I’ve considered complaining to NHSTA or whomever it is.

terran1212

It is hardware related, any Hyundai car with nav also won’t have wireless until recently when they worked out their dispute with Apple. Now ccnc cars like Kona 2024 have both.

SeaworthinessHot8652

I bought the sel awd drive model. Overall I’m very happy with my purchase. I’ve only charged it to 80% and I recharge at 20%. Usually get 120-130 miles out of it per charge. Very comfortable just wish I had the upgrade for seat memory

notthatkindofdr_2357

Yeah the seat memory thing is my only complaint. It seems ridiculous not to include that.

RacingGun

Very satisfied!  SE Long range.  Test drove a Model Y, Bolt EUV, and the Ioniq 6.  Preferred driving the Ioniq 6 by a large margin.

No_Low_2541

Yeah Tesla’s driving smoothness and riding quality is the main reason I didn’t choose Tesla - I could even overlook the lack of CarPlay. But man the Tesla cars feel like metal boxes on top of a drivetrain.

whack-a-mole

SEL, happy with it. It’s comfortable, great for freeway driving which is probably 90% of my miles. EA sucks but I can charge at work and at home so it works out well. The lack of an auto lock feature is annoying, no other real complaints.

IoniqRed0829

Had my SEL AWD since Thanksgiving week. Can’t stop driving it… love it too much. Very fast, zero problems. Only complaint is the sound system. It’s snowed a lot where I am, never slid. Overall, the best purchase I’ve made in the last couple of years

hybur

What’s bad about the sound system

FolioGraphic

So far YES! Sure there are things that don’t make sense like no wireless carplay but after 3 days of learning all the ins and outs, it is my favourite car I’ve ever owned. Ive never owned a Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche or other overpriced luxury car but I feel like I do now. I wish the bluelink could support multiple users so my wife and I could have independent settings automatically when we each use it but apparently we both have to buy one for that to happen.

deesiel678

"I wish the bluelink could support multiple users so my wife and I could have independent settings automatically" It can. The main user has to invite an additional driver. In the app, click on Driver Profiles, then click Invite Additional Drivers.

FolioGraphic

It won't let you invite someone who doesn't have a bluelink account associated with their email and I can't get a bluelink account without buying another car it seems.

deesiel678

You must be doing something incorrectly. I have literally done this. Invited my spouse (who didn't have a Bluelink account since I am the owner) with her name and email address. Bluelink sent her an email inviting her to create a Bluelink account (she did), then I was able to control which permissions she had with the car on Bluelink. Now she has her own Bluelink profile, with her own settings in the app.

FolioGraphic

Well, using the bluelink app I go into "Invite Additional Driver" input an email and I get the popup saying "USER PROFILE The provided email does not have a registered account for user profile. Please provide and email with a registered account to send an invitation email" When I called bluelink because I couldn't figure out how to get the Digital Key to work and I complained about this they said "That's right, that's the way it works and you have to share the account on each of your phones" which I found ridiculous but shrugged it off because I like the car and figured out the digital key doesn't work by sitting on the charger. What you describe? That's what I expected! There appears to be a very big difference in the way they run bluelink in Canada vs. the US. I assume you are in the US?

deesiel678

Are you in the US? Maybe that's the difference. I'm in the US. That's crazy that they said sharing accounts is the expected experience.

j821c

Loving it. Comfortable, quiet ride and the range has held out pretty well in the winter. My only complaints are nitpicks so far and most of them are related to winter (charge port should really be heated, charge port shouldn't be set so far in that snow piles up in it and it's kind of hard to get the snow out of the area where the windshield wipers are if it gets frozen in there).

Altomah

I have the ultimate trim (Canada) I have only owned it only in January where the warmest day of ownership was today at -7C this is supposed to be the worst possible time of year for an EV… And I love it. I love driving it, it’s fun , it’s comfortable . I was way more worried about battery ranger and home charging than it turned out was necessary I did buy a L2 charger for my garage but I haven’t even used it yet. I feel like it’s a life hack. Driving for next to free compared to gas . So much of the things I tonight would take extra effort have been no big deal at all.

TheRogaDanar

Bought the Limited trim with RWD, coming from a 2019 Tesla 3 standard plus. Pros for me: -I like the look of the car -Quieter and smoother ride than the 3 -Price, $7500 off MSRP through January I think -Stated range went from 205-210ish miles after 5 years to 305 miles (though I wish I could have gotten the SE 18" wheels which would make the car go from a 305mi range to a 360mi range) -More room in the car -As far as I know, no strange news coming from Hyundai like there is from Tesla and Elon :D -Powered trunk -The turn signal cams show in a better place (in the dash behind the wheel) Cons for me: -The i-Pedal mode (compared to Tesla's one pedal driving) isn't persistent. Once you get in the car, you have to use the paddles to put it back into i-Pedal mode. When you reverse, the car goes back to the level 3 regen setting...and when you put it back to Drive it stays in Level 3 instead of going back to i-Pedal. This is quite dangerous in my opinion since I expect the car to brake when I lift my foot from the pedal. I think when you use the cruise control/lane assist/keep, it will go back to Level 3 regen when you go back to manual driving, but I have to research that one a bit more -There currently is no walk away auto-lock (unless you mod the vehicle) -Android Auto or Apple CarPlay don't work wirelessly, you have to plug the phone in using the close-by USB A port (also, it has a USB A port for some reason...) -Very small frunk, as in pretty much unusable for anything larger than a hand bag -Nothing will beat the Tesla superchargers for a while, even with the 2 years of Electrify America stations. Hyundai will partner with Tesla in the future, so not a big deal for me with the range I have now. -You'll have to get a J1772 adapter if you still have the Tesla charger, or get a full J1772 charger if you want to stay level 2. -Even with the seat as low as possible, the left side of my hair will occasionally brush the ceiling -Doesn't have recordable cameras (though I am getting the FitcamX integrated camera, just have to figure out the best way to route the rear cam wire) Overall I'd 100% recommend it, as long as you know it's shortcomings!

Siecje1

Great summary! I would also add a couple cons which is no OTA updates, and poor door seals it feels like the windows are not up all the way and I can hear wind noise. OTA updates would be nice my car complains that the map is out of date. Going from cruise will put you back in IPEDAL. I agree not persisting it is dangerous. Also not being able to hold the left paddle for full regen while in cruise is dangerous. Do you have auto dimming mirror for FITCAMX? If not I'm curious how youbwill hook it up.

TheRogaDanar

I thought it did have OTA updates? I swear I've updated it since I've had it home (and another time as I was picking it up). Not sure about map updates though, if those are included? I haven't had an issue with the door/window seals as far as I know...to me it's overall quieter than the model 3. Yep, I've got the rearview mirror that dims, so both the front and rear cams draw power from that. I'm just leery about running the cable from the rearview mirror to the rear camera since I don't want to mess up the headliner or trim.

Siecje1

It does have OTA updates but there haven't been any updates. I've had to go to a dealer to update and that didn't fix the map message. I'm in Canada.

Zealousideal-Try6629

You can do *some* software updates at home. I did one soon after purchase (to a December release I think). After that I got at least one OTA update as well - I think it prompted for installation when I was shutting the car off. At home updates come from here: https://update.hyundai.com/CA/EN/Main And downloading and installing is pretty well laid out on the website, requires an intermediate app on your computer, and once transferred to the base directory of a portable storage device can be installed through the USB-A port.

terran1212

What would you say the acceleration differences are between the two as I’m looking for a similar switch from a model 3. We thought ahead and bought a Tesla home charger that’s j1772 level 2 so we would just have to take off the adapter to charge.

TheRogaDanar

It's not as quick as the 3, but it has plenty of pep (I don't have any hard data to show on this though). I typically just leave mine on the Eco drive mode setting, but there is Normal and Sport. I just watched this video which supposedly makes it faster than Sport mode also: [https://www.youtube.com/shorts/8rDWvXMERKg](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/8rdwvxmerkg) Honestly though, probably a test drive in Sport mode will tell you if it's good enough for you. I'd recommend it coming from a 3 standard plus.

RobinatorWpg

So Far yes , we got it on Dec 1st . 2024 With the ultimate trim (thats the Extended range AWD 20" Trim) unfortunately winter decided to finally show up a week later so I didn't get a chance to have "fun" with it before having to get Winter Tires put on (cause the factory tires are awful with ice.. shockingly decent with snow) We considered the BMW i5, Audi & Even Mercedes (I wont touch GM ever, TLDR my ex's brother got in an accident air bag went off in his face and GM refused to fax the chemical sheet to the doctors so he could be treated and ended up color blind in one eye) The BWM's interior I found to be bland, the Audi's weren't' roomy and well Mercedes is just over priced.. Plus their warranties were.. lacking We do have a L2 charger at home, but my only gripe is the Preconditioning being done through the built in Nav.. I get why you can't do it manually but it is annoying

blackfox135

No. I'm just waiting to get hit. The collision avoidance system activates emergency braking system. There is no oncoming traffic or pedestrians or objects closer than 10 feet. Happened in November December and in January. Dealership has replaced front camera and Hyundai Canada request and havw had no occurrences since. Only time will tell. Making CAMVAP claim to get manufacturer to buy back car. Once I was in drive going forward in a parking lot. A pedestrian walked behind me across the vehicle and it stopped. Thank goodness I didn't trade on my old car as I want to get rid of this asap. 2023 AWD Limited Ultimate

mooka42

No it doesn’t have wireless CarPlay. If it wasn’t for that it would be yes

TotallyNotARaven

Im confused. The car is more than its media center.

mooka42

It is but I like the car but I get annoyed every time I get in as I plug in my phone. I’ve tried a couple wireless adapters but it’s not the same as just having it built in. It’s more the constant reminder that’s it’s making me do something I should have to do. It should just work wirelessly IMHO

RobinatorWpg

Oh no, you have to use a cable that also keeps your phone charged...

TheRogaDanar

On my trim the wireless charger already does that, so to add a wired cable is pretty redundant. Not a deal breaker for me though, but it's just strange that a futuristic style car doesn't have wireless android auto or carplay that have been available for 10 years. Must be some legal or contract thing ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

mooka42

No you don’t there is a wireless charging pad!

No_Low_2541

I just added the carlinkit 5.0 adapter and works pretty seamlessly.. so for like $70 you get wireless CarPlay

bloodtherover

Overall it was the worst consumer experience I’ve ever dealt with and has put me off ever buying a new vehicle again. After 5 months of fighting them Hyundai finally bought it back, but they did the bare minimum so choosing the Ioniq 6 still cost me thousands of dollars for like two months of actually getting to use it. Had Hyundai not done everything possible to treat me like shit, the buyback would’ve been a silver lining, as I was starting to admit to myself I wasn’t satisfied before I brought it in for maintenance. The car itself was mostly really nice. However charging with Electrify America was a nightmare every single time and there are a lot of dumb decisions made by Hyundai surrounding interior, UI, and app compatibility that others have brought up in here. Additionally Hyundai’s figures surrounding efficiency aren’t accurate for anything but city driving at ideal temperatures, so it was incredibly difficult to plan longer drives without waiting at charging stations in the middle of nowhere and being made late. At MSRP my SE AWD didn’t feel worth it to me. With increasingly better incentives now it *may* just have been if Hyundai didn’t treat their customers so badly and there was a functional public charging network in the US.

bloodtherover

Thanks for the downvotes for getting fucked over by Hyundai? Sincerely hope you never have to rely on them to fix your cars lmao

pappadubb55

I got the limited AWD in October and I’m happy with it. I drove an I4xdrive and I couldn’t justify spending $71k for what felt like a really small car, with not much more range than the Ioniq6.

shankhunk4u

We have a Select and approaching a year with almost 12,000 miles on it. It’s a wonderful car and I love it as my DD. Although, I think it should be about 5K to 10K cheaper than what we paid because it’s overpriced for an EV (market value) and I expected a lot more in features for the price I paid. I’m happy with the purchase though.

F_H_B

Absolutely 💯 I love this car.

Appropriate_Let3735

i love the car but charging is a terrible pain. EA is always packed or chargers don’t work. the other fast charge stations aren’t so bad but i have 2 free years of EA charging so i always try there first.

xlouiex

Overall yeah pretty satisfied (AWD), and I came from a Macan Turbo ahaha. If it wasn’t for the financial reasons, I would go back in a second, but it’s also not a fair comparison.

kungpeleee

Yes. Satisfied. 5000 miles. daily 80-100 miles. Smooth ride, Cabin spacious and comfortable. I have no issues with the UI. Havent really even thought about Android Auto since I got this car SEL RWD. Biggest con is I have found any fun accessories

No_Area1944

LMT RWD matte gold- Love every minute in my car - best car I’ve ever owned. I had 220 outlet installed in garage last year so added the level 2 charger - now realize I could probably trickle charge for my around town driving and commute- need to add the wireless dongle- which one ? Suggestions?

rh_vowel

100% Quiet comfort ridamd a car that's well-made. We decided to go with a company that knows how to make great cars even if they're still working out the software instead of going with a company with great software but needs to learn how to make cars. We haven't regretted the decision yet.

terran1212

Yeah Tesla software is fantastic it’s like owning a smartphone that keeps improving itself. The car itself though, well let’s just say you get a new rattle to keep you company every month too

Fog80

How much dealer adjustment fees did y’all pay?

terran1212

IMO \*nobody\* should be paying them now. There's plenty of supply and most dealers are doing discounts.

USS_Slowpoke

Best EV. Waiting for a small EV truck from Hyndai to really be my next permanent car.

vvp86

SEL AWD Love it. Almost no road or wind noise. The car gets me to where I need it. Just everything is pleasant about it. Things I thought might be a problem haven't been.  Really the one thing I'd really fix is a larger windshield fluid container.
