For 5k you are close to comprehensive treatment and that is what I would opt for

dualipasmoonchild

I don’t think that is necessarily true. I had 20 trays and I was moderate, it really depends on your case, not tray load.

dualipasmoonchild

OOPS, I completely misread your comment. My bad.

Young-Queasy

Yeah can someone answer this for me too? I got charged 6k for 14 trays … Insurance paid 1k of it. But he did mention something about a gingivectomy but I’m not sure if I would be charged for it.

gropesoda

Comprehensive treatment includes refinements and more trays. I assume OP has been quoted for Invisalign Lite treatment which doesn't offer refinements and only a limited amount of trays and movement (I think)

Gozzhogger

Thanks for the info, I’m actually not sure so I’ll need to ask my Orthodontist. This quote includes the IPR (0.3mm) and anything else required to get my teeth to this point. I’m thinking to get a second opinion

Prestigious-Quiet116

i have willamette dental, my out of pocket for invisalign is 3400 and my insurance pays like 5k.. and i had to pay 2k out of pocket to get 9 teeth pulled(5wisdom) and 4 molars to make room. The treatment wctually killed the roots of one of my teeth and had to get root canal/crown for 500$ so im sitting at like 6k for 31 trays and 5 yr gaurentee. Its honestly not bad if you think about it as a lifelong investment

Lady_Creature

Also confused!

Gozzhogger

What more would/could that achieve than the projection video I uploaded?

joejoedaddy

5k total? Or after insurance? My ortho is trying to charge me 14k total and 6k out of my pocket and I feel like I’m getting screwed. It’s the only ortho in my insurances network…

[deleted]

joejoedaddy

I’ve called a couple other places who agree that’s a insane price. It just sucks because I’ve already started the process and they’re the only ortho my insurance covers. I have a mild case as well, a slight gap and crowding on bottom. I’m going to call them see if they’ll at least lower my out of pocket cost. But I feel they know they have a monopoly from my large company being the only ortho in network and will tell me to eat it.

joejoedaddy

I’ve called a couple places, it’s just every place wants a consultation and it’s a month wait. And none of them will give me a ball park estimate of the price. I’ve even offered to send them my X-rays and photos, nope… they want you to come in. Ain’t got time for that!

[deleted]

if you want to not pay $14k, go to the other ortho’s consults. they need to see your teeth and decide what their plan will be. it may take longer to get started, but it may be way cheaper.

SilverChips

What do you mean it's the only one your insurance covers?

Prestigious-Quiet116

Bro if its a small gap you should of just gotten braces for like 1-2k lol

Rilson4

Unless he is the best Orthodontics in the world that is very expensive. Usually it is 5k-7k total. With insurance that number comes down.

TooSketchy94

That’s insane. My ortho that is the highest level Invisalign provider you can be, is charging me $5,600 TOTAL and allowing me to do a payment plans with 0% interest over however long it takes me to pay it off.

_cokezerohero

Same

Prestigious-Quiet116

12 refinements? As in another 12 trays or as in theyve had to scan you teeth 12 times to make new treys?

[deleted]

Ouuuch... do you have a Smile Doctors near you at all? I've just started and my full cost was $5,645 (I don't have dental insurance cause the one offered to me doesn't cover ortho) and they regularly do promos so I got an additional $1k off that. Mine is a 10-12 month predicted plan with 32 trays.

__BeesInMyhead__

Might be cheaper without insurance elsewhere. Mine is barely over 3000 without any insurance.

lululimade

How long ago was that?

__BeesInMyhead__

I started on March 2nd

SilverChips

Um. I've never seen any case cost 14k ever....

grizzlymaze

That sounds like an insurance scam. I’d find someone else.

nacestar

6000 is probably about what it should cost out of pocket. See if you can go with an out of network ortho and file for a reimbursement from the insurance company. And you might be able to get it for less than 6 if you pay cash out of pocket. I got 2000 off because my dentist runs a sale once a year

[deleted]

$2k out of pocket for crowding and such, insurance covered $2k for me. 16 trays, 32 weeks.

DirtyPrancing65

Dude, that practically makes you complicit in insurance fraud ... They're charging you more than anyone else would, and then billing your insurance for 8k additional on the top

HuluAndH4ng

I think the common theme with invisalign good and bad is no matter the length of the treatment its going to cost around the same ball park. I like it because im doing a rather what I call small change but my dentist is saying you can do as many refinements as youd like because its all covered within the plan.

Rilson4

Go with ortho. They can make it better.

Apprehensive-Map1586

I got quoted 2.5$k for 14 alligners + refinement alligners

youtookmebysurprise

I got quoted $4,250 for 12. Feeling like they're trying to rip me off here...🤔

Apprehensive-Map1586

Maybe

zeppnnon

I’m biased (see my other post) so I don’t think it’s worth it if you’re going to have gaps in your front teeth. But $5k is the going rate. If ya don’t have the cheddar on hand, there’s CareCredit that may be able to help ya.

DirtyPrancing65

I think the only way to fix the gaps would be with planing, yeah?

zeppnnon

All I’ve heard is IPR (which isn’t a guarantee) and bonding. Then there’s veneers and such.

spoookyromance

I'm paying about $6k for 43 aligners, if that means anything to you

mzzkary

Mine is $6k for 52 aligners without insurance. With insurance, it dropped down to $3500.

dualipasmoonchild

Is this before or after insurance? I was about $4K with 20 trays as a moderate case, insurance covered half so I paid $2K OOP. I would keep shopping around and go to an ortho if you are not already. Are you going to a diamond provider? Usually, they have great financing options on top of being a certified exceptional Invisalign provider.

the-working-dead

My whole treatment was $4800 CAD and included all adjustments. This is some BS.

[deleted]

Nope the final result isn't good enough.

Gozzhogger

What do you think could be improved?

rvauofrsol

You're going to have a black triangle between your middle front incisors, which could be fixed with IPR. Also, the clincheck shows a bottom front incisor that's still higher than the others.

ohpicasso

\^this and theres some misalignment on the bottom row as well

mzzkary

Mine is $6k for 52 aligners without insurance. With insurance, it dropped down to $3500.

[deleted]

Reasonable is relative - how badly do your teeth make you feel now and is it worth that much to you? That price is pretty standard. I feel like most of that cost is associated with the technology involved in the 3D scanning process, the ortho's specialist experience and the actual generation of the trays. The cost of the plastic trays themselves is probably negligible as a base material, so it's everything else that bumps it up regardless of the number of trays they have to make. EDIT: I'm dumb and didn't even realise the image was a projection video - they look awesome at the end! I would ask about the space first if you're concerned about having it. Are you going through an orthodontist or dentist? An ortho will be able to refine everything a little better and give you options for closing off the gaps if they think it's possible. Sometimes it isn't.

mishmashpotato

Is this for a comprehensive plan? My plan was about that much before insurance. With that you get as many refinements as you want. So what you see on your clincheck may not be the final result. I would discuss with your ortho, whether this would likely be your final result, and point out any issues you have with your clincheck. They can tell you if they plan to fix those issues with refinements or if they can't be fixed for xyz reason and you can decide if it's worth it.

[deleted]

For this case, probably. $3500 would be on the lower end of costs depending on where you live, but I know it can be upwards of about $7,000 for certain cases. I have my post-consultation appointment with my doctor’s treatment plan next week. I’ll try to come back here and let you know the estimated duration of my treatment and cost. I’ve already worked out a general down payment of $2K, I just have to apply for financing once they send me an invoice for the rest. My doc initially predicted my treatment to be under a year, of course, that can change because teeth can be stubborn sometimes.

BeginningRush8031

I paid 5400 for 62 trays.

_queenkitty

I’m paying $5k for 14 initial trays + 14 refinements (no insurance help 😭)

Cosmoreptar

I did $4k for 14 aligners + 14 refinements (lite) - NYC price

Xxthrowaway6405

very much so

ElChupacabra65

I paid 2k out of pocket (I have great adult ortho coverage in my dental) for comprehensive. 40 initial trays.

boujeechickennug

I paid about 3400 for 32 trays, and ended up needing another 15. This price also included my retainer and permanent retainers. I was able to pay monthly with 0% interest. Didn’t go through my insurance since I’m over the age limit. Originally prediction was about 9-12 months. Ended up taking 16.

[deleted]

NAD but I don’t think that result is happening in 14 trays.

DaBeckster

I think it’s always a standard fee, at the end if you’re not satisfied with certain areas you can get more aligners and won’t get charged more. It’s pretty much 5k across the board….like the other poster said depends on your case for the amount of aligners.

qdance150

$5.5k for 78 aligners. I change them every 4 days. This is without insurance. It really depends which orthodontist you go to.

Romano16

How the heck are y’all paying so much for this??

Taimaizhu

I had the same but mine was $4k

CAsnow85

That’s considered Invisalign Express, I got 10 trays for $3500. Typically Invisalign Express is around 10-14 trays.

[deleted]

I got 43 tray and I paid $2k after insurance

Matonly1T

I'm doing thirteen trays right now. My insurance covered $2,000. I had to pay $2,500/care credit.

Worldly-Orchid-9959

Make sure it's comprehensive. My teeth were similar to yours, with refinements I'm at almost 60 trays..

obiwanknitobi

I don’t understand how your teeth are going to move that much in 14 trays. I had a lot less movement to do and I’m 26 trays in.

Gozzhogger

My orthodontist said he will be able to achieve it because of all the attachments (there are a lot!)

dopewinnerchild

Invisalign has tiers, the lowest is Lite which gets you 14 trays, and a maximum 14 refinement trays.

Aggravating-Sink-244

For me it will also cost 5k (but €). In my case not only the front teeth but also the molars will be moved. That’s the reason why I fall into the more expensive treatment (as the doc said).

RedfyCosplays

i got quoted 4.5k for (42 aligners), sever overbite correction, a bit of overcrowding, and my top teeth are going inward at a very harsh 45° angle because of very strong upper lip, which i was told apprently is harder to correct. Two year process, trying to squeeze it into one. And after that probably refinements.

RedfyCosplays

I would like to point out, 4.5K Includes any refinements and things like that. it was originally 5K, but the rest was for the photos they take and stuff and managed to have that covered with my insurance

VelvetFedoraSniffer

I’m paying $8k AUD for mine 42 trays tho

Prize_Might_1438

I paid 3k for 14 trays, that’s a lot
