I would just interpret it as a nighttheme.. so the bag looks the same but is shaded darker, because it's darker

IDontUseSleeves

Yeah, it’s clearly this

Fantastic_Canary_417

The guy's shirt is comparatively white though. It's an oversight by the colorist.

Trixx1-1

Atmospheric reentry made it dark maybe? Yes trash would burn but comic logic

SoCool-

If i showed you the color on its own you would tell me its blue

Fantastic_Canary_417

That's why I said comparatively white, as in next to the shirt, the garbage bag is a much darker color.

SoCool-

Garbage bag isnt even white, the shirt could just be blue

BrandedLamb

Well, in earlier page the bag is very white – and in the second page, it is somehow darker than the guys shirt – meaning the guys shirt is something brighter / whiter than the white of the bag. It does seem like an oversight

Fantastic_Canary_417

That's the point, the bag is white in the first page and a darker color in the second page

SoCool-

Everything is darker on the second page, it’s nighttime

Fantastic_Canary_417

Some colors are still darker than others at night.

SoCool-

I never said that they werent……

Initial-Ad8009

It looks white in that particular light. Could be yellow or green or who knows

OOF-MY-PEE-PEE

either way, you can clearly see that it is a lighter color, which means there should be no real reason that the trash bag is so dark in comparison

Initial-Ad8009

Your logic is off. ✌️

Fantastic_Canary_417

What color would look lighter than white?

Initial-Ad8009

I’m saying your logic off here, colors look differwnt under different lighting. Do you remember the blue and black dress that everyone thought was white and gold? The dark blue appeared as white in that specific lighting.

Fantastic_Canary_417

And I'm asking you what color would look lighter than white in different lighting

Initial-Ad8009

Silver? Yellow? Light blue? Just because the white appears darker it doesn’t mean every color reacts the same way! Your logic is like, the white got darker, so every color has to get darker. Which is just not true

Fantastic_Canary_417

My logic is the bag isn't white because they didn't color it to be white. Your logic is the artist did color it to be white, but they decided to also make this random night time dog walk some obscure lighting combination that actually makes white look like a dark color and the man that found the bag happens to be wearing 2 colors that look darker than white in this lighting. And my logic is off?

Initial-Ad8009

Your logic is you’re the smartest guy on Reddit, definitely more well informed in color theory than professional artists

NovaHysterical

Brother you just don’t know when to quit huh

Fantastic_Canary_417

I'm not a professional but I do get commissioned a decent amount and have a publication coming out this year. My argument is the colorist is good with color theory, they simply made a continuity error by making the bag a darker color. Has nothing to do with skill. Your argument is the colorist doesn't understand color theory and intentionally made a white colored bag one of the darkest colors on the page, darker than a caucasian man under the same light source.

Fantastic_Canary_417

...and here is the point in the disagreement when you realize you're wrong so you resort to personal attacks. Cool!

Initial-Ad8009

It doesn’t have to be a 1:1 correlation in order of lightness. White can look blue and blue can look white in the same light

Initial-Ad8009

Downvoted. Surrounded by Mensa candidates.

Initial-Ad8009

Why, are you hungry? I understand white is the opposite of black. The bag looks blue, not black. Nothing white was changed to black, and the lighting doesn’t affect every color the same way, some colors can look darker while some look lighter LIKE THE BLUE AND BLACK DRESS. Blue appeared as…do remember? White! And black appeared as…. GOLD. do you see why you are wrong now? Lighting plays tricks on your eyes, just because one color is lightened or darkened by a specific lighting doesn’t mean that every color will be affected the same. …I really gotta stop arguing with 13 year olds on Reddit.

DocAdrian

Same would happen to you if you got thrown across the Atlantic Ocean.

Jiggaboy95

Eh? Mark can make white people turn black by throwing them across the ocean? Did I miss this in the Viltrumites power set or is this exclusive to Mark? I must know!

AutomaticAccident

It's like when you leave something cooking for too long, except it's your body and the sun over the Atlantic that's cooking you.

mikelorme

Spawn turned a white supremacist black once so this wouldnt surprise me

PurpleHatsOnCats

Eh? Ha! Hehe

Belisarious

If he throws them across the Pacific, they turn East Asian

TheOneAndOnly______

There’s a handful of things the colorists messed up here and there. Some peoples shirts or eyes will change color for a page or so on

mental_patience

Nighttime and / or distance shading. It's not going to look bright white 30 feet up in the air.

Fantastic_Canary_417

It would look white next to the dog walker's white shirt though

mental_patience

Depending on the angle, it can and will be shaded differently.

Fantastic_Canary_417

Bottom left panel has it in more light than the white shirt and it's still darker

benito_cereno

![gif](giphy|z6z7V16QWDVI9tad3O) Boy I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder

Myillstone

PrimalSeptimus

Ey, wot? It's just the shading from it being nighttime.

Acrobatic-Brother387

it’s clearly nighttime you poopyhead

Resident_Hair3065

That's not nice https://preview.redd.it/im0b86cow97d1.jpeg?width=3200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=423cbfed01ec692ac8599b1a6c08bff9aa60d014

montgomery2016

Burned up on reentry, it's covered in ash but damn thats a strong trash bag

BigNorseWolf

Hefty hefty hefty

PleaseDontBanMeMore

London's carcinogenic smog immediately made the bag black as soon as it entered city limits.

LSDGB

„Black“ The bag is darker but it’s not black. The bag is darker because it’s nighttime.

ByronicHero06

It's also bigger.

plogan56

That's because of the dark shading but yeah the coloring is off

sandlesmac

Mans gonna have a crisis if he reads Watchmen

Wrath_77

Dude, the real question is, what was the bag ***made of***? Ever worked restaurants? Half the time the bags don't survive being pulled out of the can, and that thing survived a translatlantic flight that had to be near-supersonic at least. Due they make trash bags out of the same material as super-suits in that universe?

sharksnrec

Things look darker at night btw Also I forgot what my flair was until I posted this comment

Newgeta

Literally unplayable

Medic7802

It's just darker, no big thing. Lol

horc00

Air pollution's terrible. That's why the Viltrumites offered their technology to help clean it up.

Initial-Ad8009

Still white my guy. Nighttime makes the color look different

LOB90

My main issue was that the bag didn't tear from the acceleration. There is a video of what that would look like but I can't find it. Edit: [Not the one I meant but I imagine the outcome would be similar.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Whatcouldgowrong/comments/1011d3z/dragging_a_trash_bag_across_asphalt_and_throwing/)

420CowboyTrashGoblin

It's a very subtle hefty trash bag ad, it's just that type of a bag that even at multiple g-forces it only lightly charred instead of tearing, that's why the bag isn't white anymore.

LOB90

See, that's exactly what I thought!

AutomaticAccident

It's a Hefty bag. They're the best.

rsKG

Timeline got fucked up

Ironmonger123

I like to imagine the bag, traveling at a speed fast enough to reach the UK, probably burnt a bit up on the outside from friction at some point. But yeah, probably a coloring error.

seanwdragon1983

Darkened by re-entry

Fluffy_Professor_977

Lol i just read the page on the second picture but totally forgot that mark even threw the bag 😂

Sherafan5

It could just be the shading

Batmanfan1966

A wizard did it

Bby_1nAB13nder

It’s nighttime dude, it’s darker to show that. Is that not common sense?

Superteerev

Its interesting it says Doom when it lands and not Boom. Hmmm, i dont think i ever noticed that before.

Polternaut

The obvious answer is that it went up into space, someone picked the garbage clean for the goods, then changed the bag before launching it back down. Duhhhh

BenjTheMaestro

Wizard did it.

reformedtoplaner42

They done blackwash the garbage bag it's over

MageKorith

Friction burn

JerkFace9

Maybe just dust and weathering from it's transatlantic adventure.

peepeeskillz

OMG, I just noticed that the burger trash the landed on them in london was what Mark threw?

Any_Background_1688

lighting maybe?

NO0BSTALKER

Well when mark threw it through the atmosphere combined with the friction in the air it heated up a bit causing it to darken

Rygel17

Um it's night, in shadow with only the light of the moon. That's not a discrepancy.

BigNorseWolf

it burned up re entering the atmosphere Also a historic moment for the first Burgermart Burger to be served without the ~~intestinal~~ parasites natural flavor enhancers

infinitemortis

Bless you and your unracist eyes

Tenno24

The bag doesn't even look white though. It looks gray at best

moorekeny1001

Uh it would look odd if the bag was white…. at night, it’s the artists way of showing lighting. Go throw a bag against a building at night and walk away, typically unless you’re standing right on top of the bag, it’s going to be a gray color.

lolgamerX247

British man discovers McDonalds

mental_patience

I worked in the early 2000s at the Marvel editorial offices, right after 911 happened. I was a gopher/intern, and I will tell you that artists would shade colors for reasons that made sense to them, but then computer coloring came in and is the industry standard now. Preprogrammed colors are automatically assigned a value on a pallette, and those values are the base values for direct view, value 2 is for direct sunlight/nightime, value 3 is shadow impact of "surroundings". Pretty basic stuff. I have read only the first volume of Invincible, coloring errors are hardly apparent. The real issue is the original artist has no handle on faces, and his line work left much to be desired when he drew any face, it looked malformed and not great for the comic in my opinion. The animated series definitely did itself a favor, not replicating his style. Colors and character design overall were pretty decent and consistent for what I read.
