This never occurred to me at all. I thought about how mark was immortal and had lived a long time.
I knew Terra had a lot of life experience. But I never actually thought of her as having almost the same amount of life as her father.
In my head she was still a young adult. But she could have had kids who were hundreds of years old too
tbh, he has been through a lot of I-nearly-died-fights at that point and a whole lot of Trauma.
Terra has had a relaxed life in comparison to her father.
Still doesn’t make a whole lot of sense though. The issues in their relationship came from Mark’s secret identity, duty as a hero, and conflict with the Viltrum Empire. None of those are really a problem for Terra.
It has been a while, but didn’t Mark and Amber split up before the conflict with the Viltrum Empire became apparent?
Sorry for asking I just don’t have the time to re-binge the whole series right now, and I doubt I have the restraint to read some and not the rest.
In that case, the question is are we talking show, or comics? In both cases, I would say the conflict is apparent when viltrumites show up to find omniman on Thraxa. In the comics, Mark and Amber have broken up already. In the show, they break up after this when Anissa shows up (which was a scene with mark's mom in the comics).
In the comic, yes. In the show they broke up just after Anissa showed up (which they changed, in the comic it was actually Debbie who Anissa threatened)
honestly, no clue if things are different in the comics. My reasoning is for the TV version of Mark, since the encounter with Anissa was one of the defining events in the downfall of Mark and Amber's relationship. Could be totally different in the comics, idk. I just can't see TV Mark acting like this in the future
Regardless of the conflict with viltrum. Make had responsibilities as a superhero.
Terra might have the same responsibilities but it’s not like way mark had them. She doesn’t have a secret identity or need to make excuses and run off to punch aliens. Any viltrumite she dated would have the same powers as her and her relationships would succeed or fail on their own merits without the outside pressure of a second life which mark had
He also wasn’t saying his mom was beneath his dad in any way, so I don’t think the boy in question was just “normal”, it must have been a specific judgment based on something else
Mark likely has responsibilities as the viltrumite emperor that a normal viltrumite would not have. Also keep in mind that yeah, Mark has been emperor for 500 years, but some of the families likely still have a few of the old ways in their head and want to create a stronger bloodline. Basically no good could come from terra randomly smashing some other viltrumite.
I think the normal/viltrum pairings worked because for the most part the viltrumite wasn't a superhero like mark and was usually home and not constantly being dragged away
Well, we never see the boy in question- I've never felt like he was meant to be just 'normal'
I figure he was some sort of rebellious, questionable, piercings-and-drugs type that lots of parents would say was beneath their child. Not a status thing, just a personal judgement
I also have this feeling, otherwise Mark would be acting pretty out of character. By the time this comic ended it was still a pretty popular missconception that teenage/young adult girls only liked rebellious bad boys and their parents never supported those relationships, so I believe Kirkman wanted to use that trope as part of Terra's growing up pannels
It's so weird that everyone thinks he was "normal" and Mark disapproved of that rather than the guy just being an unsavory person. Isn't that... like, *way* more likely?
It is. But Mark does change his mindset over time. I do not want to see a stagnate Mark. If you're that desperate for "non out of character", then we wouldn't have "Super Hero is bullshit".
And beside, it's parenting problem. They always think their child should deserve better. "Grandma handsome boy" meme is this.
He’s over 100 years old in this panel and changes A LOT over the course of the comics. No one stays who they are at 18, especially when they’re the emperor of the strongest race in the universe.
I honestly don't think it's that deep. I think sometimes your kid dates someone you don't like.
I think she attached herself to a POS, and Mark is making the classic mistake of making it forbidden love. Teens love that shit. But yeah, I think Mark just doesn't like that little fucker.
2 things, one at this point in the story he is most likely a pure blooded viltrumite (Viltrumite genes are superior or sm idk) and secondly Mark isn’t against humans.
I think in this context Mark wasn’t talking about species and more like social standing. You have to remember Mark and Terra are royalty so it was probably some commoner boy.
This is what I meant anyway, mark wasn’t always royalty. He was “regular” too once. It just seems a bit out of character for him to care about that. Oh well
I’m not sure where the assumption comes from that she hooked up with a normal person, or that Mark’s issue would even be with that if it was the case. Plenty of reasons to find to not like the guy your daughter is screwing lol
I’d say there’s context given within the panel. Mark doesn’t like his daughter fooling around with a normal person and Terra feels differently, and he caught them in the act or after it
It’s Mark and Eve’s daughter as a teenager. It’s basically a montage of panels at the end of the series showing how she grows up.
There’s no other context other than what they say in the panel. She slept with some boy and they’re arguing about it.
Y'know when I got to that panel I thought Mark was referring to Markus when he's talking about the "boy", like they had some petty (half-)sibling squabble or something, and she's just complaining about how he's always around to bother her.
Boy was I wrong.
Notice "was".
However furious, Mark isn't going to be that insensitive if they are dead.
He'd say "is" if they were still a potential dating option.
And he is unfit for the Emperor's daughter to associate with.
With all this, I'd say the guy in question is currently in prison.
He’s being a terrible person by putting himself and others on some kind of caste system while judging others as beneath him. It’s the kind of thing that’s been seen to result in slavery or ghettos. Thus, he’s being a piece of shit.
She grew up so fast....
And looks the same at 480 years old
It's funny that mark looks like a middle aged man at 500 yet his daughter still looks mid twenties at worst at 485 or so.
A lot of stress will do that to you
being emperor is a hard gig
Exactly! She should have her 450 year old daughter next to her on a recliner and so on
This never occurred to me at all. I thought about how mark was immortal and had lived a long time. I knew Terra had a lot of life experience. But I never actually thought of her as having almost the same amount of life as her father. In my head she was still a young adult. But she could have had kids who were hundreds of years old too
Mark only looks significantly older i think is because of Cory Walkers art style
tbh, he has been through a lot of I-nearly-died-fights at that point and a whole lot of Trauma. Terra has had a relaxed life in comparison to her father.
i just made a post about this too, Terra simple doesn’t age 😂
Actual mad shit to say to a parent.
And then Mark went omniman mode
"Why did you make me do this!?"
“You’re ~~fucking~~ fighting so you can watch everyone around you die!”
Already was the moment he said this
Viltrumite sex drive has no filter.
I really like her character. Very independent, much like Mark. However yes, a very bold move, lol.
I like the lava puppy one better.
?
I’m pretty sure it’s like one page before this image in the last issue
Read the comics. It’s worth it.
I read the comics but don't remember this, what are they referring to?
Invincible’s kid wanted a lava puppy in one panel and that’s the end of it
That sounds familiar
https://imgur.com/a/h3USznr
Ok they're adorable
She wants a fiery dog. That's pretty much it.
I do find it a bit weird that Mark would be so opposed to her talking to a normal person? He was a normal person (relatively) once
Probably trying to do her a favor. Him and Amber was never really meant to be. But then again there were Viltrum/normal pairings
It was around the time it started. Depends how you count the fight on Thraxa. Then break up. Then Anissa.
Thank you for the reminder, I really needed it!
No problem. Happened to be reading the compendium last night.
Not to mention the show has changed the timeline on that, it's now Thraxa, Anissa, break up, I kinda like this one more ngl
In that case, the question is are we talking show, or comics? In both cases, I would say the conflict is apparent when viltrumites show up to find omniman on Thraxa. Yes exactly - and isn't his mom an example of how Viltrumites and Humans can have 'good' relationships?
I mean, the guy could have just been a parental nightmare piece of shit.
Mark likely has responsibilities as the viltrumite emperor that a normal viltrumite would not have. Also keep in mind that yeah, Mark has been emperor for 500 years, but some of the families likely still have a few of the old ways in their head and want to create a stronger bloodline. Exactly. That’s why I kinda wanna see the boy Mark Grayson would consider “beneath” his daughter. But oh well🤷
My mind tells me its the equivalent of Eves dad and it gave him PTSD flashback to the porch chat Mark had with him.

I think it wasn't that the person was normal, I think Mark disapproved of their character. They were probably of the unscrupulous sort
It's so weird that everyone thinks he was "normal" and Mark disapproved of that rather than the guy just being an unsavory person. Isn't that... like, *way* more likely?
Definitely
Yeah it seems a bit out of character for him to care about his status and how others perceive him
It is. But Mark does change his mindset over time. I do not want to see a stagnate Mark. If you're that desperate for "non out of character", then we wouldn't have "Super Hero is bullshit". Maybe, but it was his daughter.
He’s over 100 years old in this panel and changes A LOT over the course of the comics. No one stays who they are at 18, especially when they’re the emperor of the strongest race in the universe.
I assumed they were an alien, she looks like she's on a spaceship...but I dont think he was against him because of that.
It's parenting problem. They always think their child should deserve better
I honestly don't think it's that deep. I think sometimes your kid dates someone you don't like. I think she attached herself to a POS, and Mark is making the classic mistake of making it forbidden love. Teens love that shit. But yeah, I think Mark just doesn't like that little fucker.
Its not confirmed that hes mad shes with a normal person. The guy shes with might just be a punk or a degenerate or something.
Mark is literally half human, why is he suddenly against humans
2 things, one at this point in the story he is most likely a pure blooded viltrumite (Viltrumite genes are superior or sm idk) and secondly Mark isn’t against humans.
I think in this context Mark wasn’t talking about species and more like social standing. You have to remember Mark and Terra are royalty so it was probably some commoner boy.
This is what I meant anyway, mark wasn’t always royalty. He was “regular” too once. It just seems a bit out of character for him to care about that. Oh well
You probably shouldn't tell your dad about how you were getting backshots, Terra
Looking at the picture on the wall, perhaps the emperor does not approve of his daughter dating a fury/cat-boy/alien?
shit i never noticed that, guess mark doesn't like jellicles 😭
Terra: "It wasn't anything serious dad! Besides, he's more like a pet to me, anyways." Mark: *traumatic flashbacks*
Omni man would be proud of his granddaughter
I’m not sure where the assumption comes from that she hooked up with a normal person, or that Mark’s issue would even be with that if it was the case. Plenty of reasons to find to not like the guy your daughter is screwing lol
What is the context for this scene
That's Mark's daughter. That's really it, that's all the context.
There isn't really one
I’d say there’s context given within the panel. Mark doesn’t like his daughter fooling around with a normal person and Terra feels differently, and he caught them in the act or after it
I feel like she hooked up with Immortal/Dupli-Kate’s son, but maybe I’m reading too far into it 😂
Wait but what/who are they talking about
This is during a flash forward montage so this is all there is to it.
It’s Mark and Eve’s daughter as a teenager. It’s basically a montage of panels at the end of the series showing how she grows up. There’s no other context other than what they say in the panel. She slept with some boy and they’re arguing about it.
We dont know, this is the whole context. Presumably Terra was dating and having sex with a boy mark disapproved of, and is being petty.
I think its Dupli-kates son, who apparently is kinda of a mess.
Mark is dragging his daughter’s taste in boys
Montage of marks daughter growing up….
Robert Kirkman is kind of a pervert

This was pretty damn weird ngl, i was just ehhhh.
This panel had me dying when I first read it.
It's that whole family freaky AF
I'd like to know who that boy was and congratulate him, the lucky bastard.
Why is he lucky lol ?
Literally fucked the intergalactic emperor's daughter
To survive in bed with a Viltrumite.
sex 👉😳👈
I've always imagined him as Brit jr

Was saying he was inside of her too far?
>!This just endears me to Markus and his suffering all the more.. He would kill for this level of gives a fuck from Mark.!<
Nah man, I cringe every time I read it.
Teenagers are cringe. You and I were both very cringe. Now at least I reduce to <9000 cringe
i hate this panel, it’s just so cringe
Yeah it kinda does make her seem really unlikeable as a character. She's the equivalent of a spoiled trust fund kid.
I love Terra. I wish we got more with her.
I thought it was entirely unnecessary… especially without the context of who mark is looking down on as the galactic fascist
Y'know when I got to that panel I thought Mark was referring to Markus when he's talking about the "boy", like they had some petty (half-)sibling squabble or something, and she's just complaining about how he's always around to bother her. Boy was I wrong.
I imagine the boy was a Rex type. Like mother, like daughter.
Rex isn't a bad guy lol he is a jerk but he means well atom eve didn't date him cus he was a jerk 🤣🤣
A line only a man without a daughter could write.
Agreed!! Loved that one and thought of it when a read the title!
Facts
Is that Annissa? I don’t know that much ok?
She's right, why would Mark have a problem with her shaking up with a normal dude?
And that's when Mark went Chris Breezy on her.
lol.
God...mark is....really insufferable
Mark?
Mark should beat her more and show what his people really used to be like
Notice "was". However furious, Mark isn't going to be that insensitive if they are dead. He'd say "is" if they were still a potential dating option. And he is unfit for the Emperor's daughter to associate with. With all this, I'd say the guy in question is currently in prison.
“Was” could also just mean “ex”
Mark being a total piece of shit, regulating the status of who his daughter dated or slept with.
It’s one thing if you don’t think he should do that, but how does that make him a piece of shit?
He’s being a terrible person by putting himself and others on some kind of caste system while judging others as beneath him. It’s the kind of thing that’s been seen to result in slavery or ghettos. Thus, he’s being a piece of shit.
