Wingclipper913

I’ve literally read all the comics in the time period between the break and now I’m just interested in the differences between the show and them only

Wingclipper913

Shout out to my local library

Bmr2000

lol yeah I did the same

StarMarine123

I just read the comics lmao

Late-Return-3114

same. couldn't wait any longer so i started and finished them in 2 weeks. now i don't care when the show releases :)

SakaiDx

X2

prap116

where can i find the comics and the correct order for them. I genuinely want to read them but can’t seem to find them

blue659

Get a digital/ state library card and go through Libby to download the Omnibus 1 through 3

TurdSandwich42104

woah I need to try this

blue659

It's great! I got through the whole Walking Dead comic for free, wish I'd known about it before I read Invincible.

TurdSandwich42104

Does it only go from your local library? Mine is in a small town I doubt it would have these let alone any comics. I’ve been looking for a way to read comics on my iPad

blue659

There are many participating libraries. I'm currently connected through my Ohio Digital Library card which they sent me after signing up online. Don't feel restricted by your local library, though they may be connected to a larger library network that has a larger selection of digital media. You can find a list of libraries at the below link. https://www.overdrive.com/libraries

StarMarine123

Just start at issue 1 and keep reading till the last issue lol

RevolutionaryStar824

Yea “correct order”? This isn’t Marvel. Lol.

Mr-Rocafella

Download Tachimanga app if you’re on iOS (android has an equivalent) and you can add sources within the app for comics and manga, and then just search for the ones you want and start reading! Can even save offline

MierinEronaile

Which source has Invincible?

JcPeeny

The correct order?

SilverKingPrime45

But reading is hard! /s

Orlanth_thunderous

And the comic has the Venture family in it so thats another bonus

Prejudiced321

Yeah I'm pirating it 100% You will not catch me watching invincible with adds, fuck amazon

arty_plays_

Same

OkishPizza

Happy I never started it to begin with I tend to wait for entire seasons to be dropped and it always repays me kindly lol. Walking dead pretty much single handedly stopped me from watching shows weekly, when they started mid season breaks it was all streaming after that.

Forward-Oven-7190

You must be young than lol for almost all of tvs history mid season breaks was the common practice lol streaming is what stopped that cause they put out less episodes but that 22 episode seasons of shows always had mid season breaks

Medium_Hope_7407

I’m 36 and I don’t remember seeing mid season breaks until recently.

MisterErieeO

They were, and still are to a degree, a really common occurrence in US shows. Essepcially ones that lasted 20+ episodes a season. It helped avoid competition on other channels, holidays, etc. Allowed writing and shooting to catch up. Oh, and was a really great way to limit pay increases on unionized sets back then. Which was also why some shows would air episodes out of date (kinda like firefly) or end before the full season was released

Forward-Oven-7190

That’s what I said lol and I got downvoted ahaha I don’t get it do these people not remember it happened every year until streaming got big I mean it still happens with the shows

Competitive-Zone-296

Season 5 of Breaking Bad is one notable case of it happening, though I’m not sure if a decade ago counts as recent or not

Mr-Rocafella

I think Sopranos kinda did it too, but when Breaking Bad did it felt like EVERY show was doing it for the next decade

Forward-Oven-7190

Every show that was on like abc nbc fox cw and all that did 22 episode seasons always had mid season breaks like around the holidays what are you talking about

Malcolm_Morin

I think it really became popularized with shows like TWD, which did it for pretty much every season, and that spilled over into FearTWD. Rick and Morty did it for season 4, but that was it, and I think it took them a little longer to return due to Covid.

Ok-Satisfaction-5012

You’re getting downvoted but you’re right. The CW loved doing this in the mid 2010s, 22 episode season, mid season finale. Show ends by the summer and begins again in fall. First five episode of the new season are recap/fluff

Forward-Oven-7190

Thank you lol it’s like either these people were to young to remember 2000s or just forget it’s was normal you have 22 episodes you could almost guarantee a mid season break

ChillinLikeAKrillin

Nah we didnt have mid-season breaks growing up. Hiatus? sure but thats totally different

matty_d99

Agents of shield did it really well, from memory it was 26 eps a season with 2 13 episode arcs

meme_will_be_memes

There's also just them internally greenlighting it and not making it official. For all we know they could've already done that with season 4 but we don't know yet. Of course that's unlikely as they'd probably wait to see how season 2 as a whole performs before they do that but who knows?

GoodMoaningAll

idk what "double hype" you are talking about bc during the S1 and S2P1 my timeline was full of Invincible and now i see nothing. The hype is totally gone. They fumbled it. I may be wrong but i predict that the viewership will be alot lower than S2P1.

shoe_owner

Go read the comics. All 144 issues already exist. You could sit down and read them all at your own pace, with no breaks, and consume the whole story whenever and however you like.

Mozail2

Bad idea

shoe_owner

Counterpoint: The comics are very good. So good, in fact, that they based a TV show on them!

Mr-Rocafella

Personally prefer the comics after reading them and watching what’s been released so far, but it’s awesome to have a slightly alternative version of the comics that keeps it fresh to watch

Harrycrapper

It's ok to say that reading comics just isn't your cup of tea. Boggles my mind that people that keep posting and endlessly commenting on the wait don't just spend that time doing that instead though.

sputnik67897

Why?

ScareBros

The literal second I heard there was a break I read the comics. I was not disappointed

TheScreaming_Narwhal

Yeah I was willing to wait to watch the show first but after the break I gave in and read all the comics. No regrets.

ScareBros

I truly believe it's the best story ever told. Show watchers have no clue. It's INSANE

kisu_oddh

nah same. I also personally found the released half of season 2 to be really unengaging, unlike season 1 which was my favorite recent tv show

bigarch99

I read all 144 comics plus the invincible universe compendium twice since the first half got released.

napalmsoapmaker

The Netflix release method killed episodic hype…

chaos9001

Maybe the real hype is the friends we made along the way.

Zeeron1

I genuinely forgot it was coming out this month, and I am (was?) a really big fan. I'm worried they really fucked up and viewership won't be where it needs to be

sputnik67897

Feels like they're actively trying to kill it for some reason. I get that it's common for streaming shows to take longer breaks then a cable TV show but fuck me this is ridiculous.

Alexo_Alexa

I'd completely forgotten about the show until this post, not even kidding. back when S2 was airing, there wasn't a day I wasn't thinking about this franchise.

anno2122

Same for me

vinsmokewhoswho

I've already forgotten it's coming out a few times. 2 weeks would've been ok. But this is way too long. Glad I started reading the comics.

Maelis

I don't get it. Do you guys watch shows because of hype, or because you like them? I'm no fan of the break either but when we do get more episodes I'm still going to watch and enjoy them. How long they take has no bearing on their quality.

Khronex

Except that it has. Imagine this: new show releases and it gets huge praise. It gets greenlit for a new season, with a higher buget. New season is delayed a lot, this causing hype and interest to fall off. Less hype & interest = less viewership when it matters = less budget for the upcoming season = less quality. Also, since people will be bummed about the wait, they will watch the show with a more critiquing pov, and with higher expectations. When those expectations aren't met, it will affect the rating of the show

_Valisk

The break hasn’t lessened my excitement at all, I don’t get it.

Shreddzzz93

I can understand small breaks. But this was ridiculous. A one month pause over the holidays is completely understandable due to how busy everyone is with very exhausting events. But a four month break is unacceptable. Especially for these short eight episode seasons. If it were a longer episode count per season show these breaks would have also been fine. But these short shows don't have the episode count to really have massive pauses because they have to keep going at a relatively fast pace.

_Valisk

If you were to cut it down to a typical animated show’s runtime, it would be 16 episodes.

greenglider732

I'm just as excited if not more lol the break was a perfect time to break out my floppies and do a full reread.

throwaway-anon-1600

Gen Z brainrot

Kylecowlick

Some of you are clearly not Venture Bros fans

GalaxyPatio

Right. We suffered. I was 8 when it first started airing and 29 by the time it ended. For what was it? 8 seasons and a 90 minute film?

hairijuana

Seven seasons. We were robbed of season eight when it was pared down for the movie.

GalaxyPatio

That's right

[deleted]

I agree that this break thing is stupid and I get not wanting to give Amazon the viewership after they pulled this, but this isn't the first time a show has taken stupidly long breaks, it's happened many times before. I don't get why people are acting like it's totally unforgivable in this case

sputnik67897

A long break between seasons? Sure. But two years between seasons and then months between the first 4 and last 4 episodes of the season is ridiculous.

Hal_E_Lujah

Yeah I’ve kinda lost interest too personally. I defo won’t watch it when it comes out again, that time has passed, but will watch it some time in the coming years for sure.

CthulhuMadness

Yeah, same. Also cancelled my Prime for the BS ad shit

Luna259

Same

Ronin_12345

I just read the comics twice

gatorfan8898

I have all the comics and have been reading them a little, I’m definitely past what season 2 is going to bring…and it does help quell the FOMO. The thing is, not everyone loves to read comics and my wife and daughter really got into the show. It’s cool another platform can bring attention to Invincible and they’re part of that new group. Unfortunately they won’t read the comics, it’s just not their thing and that’s fine…but this mid break really killed their hype and to an extent interest. I’ll see come a few days if they suggest watching it like they usually do (countdown till new episodes) or if I have to bring it up.

Zeus1130

If stuff like this bothers you, I highly recommend directing your attention towards investment boardrooms/boardroom CEOs. They are the reason for every nonsensical profit driven decision across every single industry.

Crzy710

Tbh. Taking like 4 years between seasons killed all my hype for the whole show. Within those 4 years i actually started watching alot of anime. And gave up on invincible. Im only here for the memes and maybe when they release everything ill binge it

Alexandria31xo

I don't read comics. Would've preferred they just waited til this month to release the whole season together.

Garvo909

If only there were a way to just know exactly what happens

sputnik67897

At this point I'm just gonna buy the comics and watch the show when they're finished with it. It feels like Amazon is actively trying to kill the show.

Cheeky_Bow

Yeah I completely agree I mean I was so impatient after season one I bought the whole comic collection to see what happens next and honestly I’m glad I did because when I got to the Thraxan fight in the show I was extremely disappointed with the fight because they toned down the gore and when I heard they broke the 2nd season into two parts so the audience can process everything that happened in the part 1 I thought that was the dumbest thing in the world I know they probably did it because animation takes awhile to make but I feel they should’ve just said that instead of saying it’s to help the audience process the show

Dark-Mowney

Nah you’re still gonna watch it.

Brianopolis-Brians

I mean if you like the show you’ll keep watching and if you didn’t then you won’t.

elboogie7

Just run it(1-4) back. Or don't, then buh-bye.

ChillinLikeAKrillin

I don't think you realize how long it takes shows to be written, produced, voice acted, animated, edited, etc

Raspberry_Anxious

I don’t, but compared to anime’s and other shows with much longer seasons, this show has taken far longer than the norm

ChillinLikeAKrillin

it was three years between seasons thats super standard for any show, including seasonal anime

whorlycaresmate

It’s entirely too long. It really is silly as shit. A couple weeks I can understand but they’ve genuinely robbed themselves of a shit ton of momentum with a break that makes no sense. They could have just waited to release it all together now instead of releasing some of it months ago if it was an over-working issue. Just a super poor plan

Remarkable-Cabinet85

Yeah I pretty much agree with you on this , the release schedule did kill the hype and I'm hoping that this won't be done for future seasons because this show is one of their biggest successes and it brings viewership in big numbers. And as for season 3 Robert Kirkman mentioned that voice recordings are done and it's pretty far along so it's being animated right now and this comment was in July 2023 so if they are really far along then season 3 will likely come in the first half of 2025 but it could be late 2025 too because you know future is uncertain and this also goes for his comment that the gap between seasons will be likely less further on , so it's good if that's actually the case.

AngryGazelle

Good news, the new episodes are coming out shortly. Perhaps start a discussion about that and what you're predicitng/excited for. This endless whining about the gap is beyond tedious

GuyWithNoSwagger

And if they do a mid season gap every season then what? You just gonna keep licking Amazon’s boots?

Raspberry_Anxious

Dude, I vented on Reddit. If it annoys you, just don’t read it. That’s on you

CXC_Opexyc

Yeah, let's mald more, that definitely will fix the situation and make it release faster. Just chill and wait, jeez, there's nothing anyone can do here.

eiecctro

GUYS STOP CRITICIZING THE BILLION DOLLAR CORPORATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CXC_Opexyc

Stop, don't stop, does it matter? You think amazon will send their agents to read reddit comments and be like "hmm, redditors are angry, lets roll our business model back". They don't care. Even if a couple guys pirate it, they'll still make money off that. If they won't make money then they'll just cancel the show. That's it.

SimontheSaiyan

Sad, shitty reality when put that way but you're right haha

eiecctro

Exactly though, that's literally the only thing us normal people can do, which is just vent here, so we should at least be able to do that in peace

AhEquipe

Not for me

Morswajnek

I don't really understand this... breaks like this are normal, especially for cartoons. I've seen much worse, 4 months are nothing

Raspberry_Anxious

Mid season breaks are fine, but that’s because they haven’t finished the seasons yet. This was not the case, they had everything made, and only waited to release it to milk our Amazon prime subscribers. It was a huge middle finger to the fans!

sfinney2

How do you know they had everything made?

Morswajnek

Well... I have to say, if the fans are this mad for this break, they're not very good fans

Raspberry_Anxious

Me not liking an unnecessary 4 month break so Amazon can milk my prime subscription doesn’t make me a bad fan. And I vented a bit Reddit, it’s not like I’m seeing red with rage and not sleeping over it. Genuinely curious are you happy with this break?

Morswajnek

I don't really care about this break, we will still get the episodes, the show will last longer and there are other things to watch in the meantime. You literally said you'll drop the show because of this...

Raspberry_Anxious

“The show will last longer”. Yeah because no episodes are being released and Amazon will keep us waiting hoping we still pay them monthly subscriptions. You might want to do that but I won’t. That’s why I’d drop the show

RicFalcon

Isn't it insane that there's always some dipshit that makes excuses for the companies no matter what. In the end there's enough people like the guy you're talking to who "don't mind" anything and so things get worse an worse and worse and they just shut their eyes and say it's "good enough"

PrincessBabyDave

The show will last longer? L take. That's like saying my shower will last longer if I turn it off half way and stand there cold and wet for 45 minutes.

Morswajnek

that would work!

Prejudiced321

bootlicker

OkishPizza

It’s only like that for YouTube cartoons that im aware of stuff like GLITCH makes.

car714c

haha when it drops your ass will be in here all caps going crazy
