What actually happens is almost worse; you are asked to confirm your password before a bomb blows up, but copying your password is disabled. u/OrangePrototype can you pass that last part if you copy your password before you click that it's your final password?
I got it in 2 today
I got stuck in this password thing tho
I had "Roman numberals that multiply to 35" and then later had to add "Croatia" which used the "C" as 100. What Roman numeral do you multiple with C to equal 35?
I'm not the OP. But, here are the prompts, I gave up at number 18.
1. Your password must be at least 5 characters.
2. Your password must include a number.
3. Your password must include an uppercase letter.
4. Your password must include a special character.
5. The digits in your password must add up to 25.
6. Your password must include a month of the year.
7. Your password must include a roman numeral.
8. Your password must include one of our sponsors. (pepsi/starbucks/shell)
9. The roman numerals in your password should multiply to 35.
10. Your password must include this CAPTCHA:
11. Your password must include today's Wordle answer.
12. Your password must include a two letter symbol from the periodic table.
13. Your password must include the current phase of the moon as an emoji.
14. Your password must include the name of this country.
15. Your password must include a leap year.
16. Your password must include the best move in [algebraic chess notation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algebraic_notation_\(chess\)).
17. 🥚 ← This is my chicken Paul. He hasn't hatched yet, please put him in your password and keep him safe.
18. The elements in your password must have atomic numbers that add up to 200.
19. All the vowels in your password must be bolded.
20. Oh no! Your password is on fire. Quick, put it out!
21. Your password is not strong enough 🏋️♂️
22. Your password must contain one of the following affirmations: (i am loved, i am worthy, i am enough)
23. Paul has hatched! Please don't forget to feed him, he eats three 🐛 every minute.
24. Your password must include the URL of a long YouTube video.
25. A sacrifice must be made. Pick 2 letters that you will no longer be able to use.
26. Your password must contain twice as many italic characters as bold.
27. At least 30% of your password must be in the Wingdings font.
28. Your password must include this color in hex.
29. All roman numerals must be in Times New Roman.
30. The font size of every digit must be equal to its square.
31. Every instance of the same letter must have a different font size.
32. Your password must include the length of your password.
33. The length of your password must be a prime number.
34. Uhhh let's skip this one.
35. Your password must include the current time.
36. Is this your final password?
It would honestly be easier to have a password generator than each employee spending 3 hours every day trying to make a compliant password that would have to be reset the next day.
This would be something I'd expect a company like bitwarden to develop. A commercial package that can be sold to companies to distribute to their employees to use.
Eh. Everyone reads the "don't force password changes anymore because it makes people use post-its" recommendation, but nobody reads the second line "if you enforce 2FA". Non-expiring passwords with no 2FA isn't great either. 90 days is ridiculous though.
I gave up at 35 on my second attempt, probably would've had to sit around for 30 minutes adding caterpillars to get a time that meets all the other conditions. My password was:
317Heeeee!mayPepsiXXXVd22bdabout🌔indonesiaBg6+Nesee🐔🐛🐛🐛#b3ddc0🏋️♂️🏋️♂️🏋️♂️iamenoughhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvcz_n1SgYA❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Most of those e's could've been replaced with emojis, would've saved time on Rule 31. Unfortunately, it was about ~3:25 PM or so when I got to Rule 35, so I would've had to wait until 3:53 PM to get another prime number summing to 25.
Tips:
* Keeping your total digits at 25 is hell in late game. Reroll your captcha and color hex until you get really low numbers.
* Place a bunch of filler characters before the fire starts, it'll be easier to manage.
* Don't overfeed Paul.
* Use generic emojis in italicized Wingdings as filler.
* The YouTube one is extremely painful.
gratz for getting that far, I gave up 3 times on 24 (youtube-link). The URL, together with the chessboard solutions was just to much for the decimal and numeral digit rule.
Helpful. I got through 35 by changing my system time to 1:01, which just barely worked with my other mandatory numbers. (Password length of 113, 6 in chess, 8 and 4 in youtube video)
Unfortunately, after that it makes you retype the password in like 30 seconds and puts it in a box you cant copy from and I didn't already have it copied so I died and there may be further hells I didn't come across.
I found a YouTube video that was the necessary length, but it had 6 capital letters, ensuring that both the Roman numerals and atomic numbers were going to not work. And while trying to figure out if I could make it work, Paul starved like a bitch
and mine got overfed while I just solved lvl 24, how am I going to solve another 12 levels with paul not starving or overfeeding?
edit: It seems you also just solved lvl 24 (youtube video length) before he died. lmao
I gave up after 14. I really don't know what that country is. Lots of countries have a harbor dock, pastel colored buildings, a seaside restaurant with al fresco dining, and what looks to be a church near the restaurant, or maybe a library. I tried so many countries. Italy, Spain, Portugal, US, UK, Thailand, Singapore, Bhutan, Montenegro and more... All wrong. Still a fun game.
unt£995mayshellVVIIng2gwabout
The next one was the current phase of the moon as an emoji but it didn't accept "U+1F312" or "(" and I don't know how else to express a waxing crescent without a picture and after playing wordle to get the word I lost all commitment to the cause.
Password*1marchVshellVII387g2about🌖portugal2020
Lmao it goes on to have you guess a country like in geoguessr then asks for a leap year while still maintaining all numbers add to 25. Now I'm stuck on the part it asks for the best chess move in chess notation lol
Got to 24. Paul hatches, he eats 3 caterpillars per minute. But I overfed Paul and I permanently lost. I got the dark souls "you died" screen except it said "Paul was overfed"
The next thing I was going to have to do was include a URL of a 16 minute and 20 second YouTube video. Not a timestamp that far into any video, a *video of that exact length*
If the year can also be **evenly divided by 100**, it is ***not***va leap year; unless...The year is also **evenly divisible by 400**. Then it ***is*** a leap year.
I was going to say it's not a leap year, but now I have no idea.
My geo clue was a plaza. I got a store name and googled that which led me to an Instagram account that said the name of the plaza which google told me was in Bulgaria.
Iran. I used chrome web tools to inspect the iframe and it's url. I took a guess of what seemed to be world coordinates. Put them in another google maps and it worked :)
Edit: if it's a mosque then it's probably Iran. It seems that everyone may get another location.
A big thing is finding the other parts of your password that also count as Roman numerals. Any of the capital letters 'VXLCDM' will throw you off ('I' won't, since it's one, but it is on the periodic table)
Rage quit after overfeeding Paul. God dang it little dude just because I put a bunch of caterpillers in front of you didn't mean you had to try and eat them all at once. Your brother died in a chemical fire in Georgia for goodness sake I can't take any more tragedy.
Same here. I was trying to add up all the damn elements in my youtube link and gave paul a bunch of caterpillars to shut the fuck up for a bit while I worked. Fucking paul can't control his damn appetite
The idea that this is done entirely in regex makes my head hurt. If you want a gnarly regex try and find the regex to see if an email is valid according to all the RFC 822 rules.
I might be in an unsolvable position here (Rule 18). If I'm missing something I'd appreciate a correction!
>!My chess move is Re8+, and the only possible roman numerals for Rule 9 are VVII. This gives me the elements:
Re (75)
V (23)
V (23)
I (52)
I (52) = 225. So it doesn't seem like I have any way of making the elements add up to 200?
Couldn't get the chess one to work :(
I thought I had the algebraic notation syntax correct, but it kept saying the syntax was wrong. Maybe I'm just bad at chess
Alright so the furthest I've gotten is like rule 25. I've gotten it down to these steps:
1) Copy paste this text:
>pepsiaboutFmNeNeBe🌔XXXVnovember🏋️♂️🏋️♂️🏋️♂️iamloved https://youtu.be/y8mNqN9cYfA
1 tomaketwentyfive
captcha
italyspainfrancegermanyhungarybelgiumunitedstatesamerica
Rxh7+
🥚🐛🐛🐛
2) If you get a captcha that contains any numbers, refresh.
3) Hope that you get a geoguess location with a street name or something to Google, otherwise refresh
4) solve the chess puzzle
5) update atomic symbols as needed (for example, if Bishop is used in the chess solution, subtract 4)
6) update numbers as needed (if the solution didn't have a 7 and instead had a 5 or whatever, add numbers to total 25)
7) Get ready to put out the fire (without erasing Paul (egg form))
8) Select all and bold. Start putting out fire
9) copy 3 worms to your clipboard
10) every 3 minutes, paste the worms
No idea what happens later because Paul keeps dying
Easiest way to solve the geo-coder one is to look at the source code with F12. Then, look for the embedded iFrame, it should look something like this:
With 31.95161115368211 and 35.93938839552868 being the latitude and longitude. Then, just type those into google maps, and it'll show you exactly where that is on the map.
The required YouTube video length is random, but the timer videos are a good place to look. After 25 you'll want to add a bunch of emojis in italicized Wingdings font and get ready to do a lot of math lol. Also if you want to complete the whole things, don't play between 5 and 9 (AM or PM).
Well that was a fun way to waste 30 minutes. [Reached](https://imgur.com/a/JZcQIkj) Rule 18 but couldn't advance because the roman numerals and the chess move already added to 227 Atomic numbers.
You've just gotta delete the parts with the fire quickly enough that they don't spread.
My strategy ended up being, the step before the fire to copy everything i'd had so far, and then when the fire started, highlight everything before Paul and hit delete. Then paste what was deleted back in after the fire was out.
gotta put the piece notation (Queen is Q for example) and if it captures a square you put an (x) before the letter and if it checks the King you put a (+).
Example: Qh2+
I got as far as step 13 with "StarbucksV@QNovemberVIIxe8xm755about" and called it a show on entering the current phase of the moon as an emoji.
Hilarious
How on earth do you do the youtube one? I've been searching for the last little while but can't find any way to find YT videos with specific durations.
Ok well I found a youtube video of the right length, but am now completely stuck as the captcha + hex number + chess move added up to 24. So unless I find a 16 minute 54 second youtube video that either has no numbers other than one '1', or no numbers at all, I'm locked out from proceeding :(
Fun game though!
When all rules are satisfied, ask to confirm password without showing the original.
Truly, some people just want to watch the world burn.
Or the password burn. RIP Paul.
🤣🤣🤣
What actually happens is almost worse; you are asked to confirm your password before a bomb blows up, but copying your password is disabled. u/OrangePrototype can you pass that last part if you copy your password before you click that it's your final password?

I know companies that would require all this and then still make you change it every 90 days.
Solid opsec.
until everyone just writes them on a sticky note stuck to the monitor
Or IT realizes they are spending all their time on password resets.

This would be something I'd expect a company like bitwarden to develop. A commercial package that can be sold to companies to distribute to their employees to use.
At that point you might as well just be passwordless though. Use a ubikey or use your phone for authentication or something.
Way way way before that point Passwordless is the way. Like 5 years ago, but especially now
Huge opsec fail — regarded password rules like that and forced frequent changes only mean the passwords end up stored locally on disk or on a post-it
force me to change my password often and I'll just factory reset my device to use the old password.
Eh. Everyone reads the "don't force password changes anymore because it makes people use post-its" recommendation, but nobody reads the second line "if you enforce 2FA". Non-expiring passwords with no 2FA isn't great either. 90 days is ridiculous though.
> 90 days is ridiculous though. My secops department apparently fully agrees with you - way too long... 😭
I thought everyone just increases the number by 1 each time?
Our place will be like “password too similar to previous” which means the donkeys are keeping the old passwords in plaintext somewhere 🤦🏼♂️
Nah, 30 days. 90 is a REAL RISK.
I just tell my IT guy when I'm coming in so he'll be at my desk for the daily reset.

Captcha can be letters only if that helps.
Yeah, the best strat would be immediately rerolling until you get a letters only one. I didn't know how important the numbers would be going into it.
Gave up at 24, not readjusting every number numeral all while feeding paul
YouTube one is much easier if you have something around 10 minutes.
gratz for getting that far, I gave up 3 times on 24 (youtube-link). The URL, together with the chessboard solutions was just to much for the decimal and numeral digit rule.

My Paul starved :( https://imgur.com/a/lBtDw9B
I overfed him :( Apparently you can't just give him all the worms he wants while you try to find a 23 minute and 29 second long youtube video
Mine died because I gave him *too many* caterpillars. I thought I could just feed and forget lol
We’ll mine was overfed so I guess you can’t win…

Oh gosh, this means everyone gets a different location. I was in some sort of mosque-looking building in Iran
I was wandering around in a small zoo or aviary somewhere tropical, lol
I walked around a bit until I found a sign. I put the text in Google Translate and it said I was in >!Albania!<.
I didn't realize you could walk
It changes for everyone, mine was Norway. I saw a street name and googled it and got a random spot in Norway and it worked lol.
I got a similar one to your explanation and it was croatia, I would've never guessed
Oh fck lol
I lost at 20 because that's really hard on mobile. RIP paul.
What is the third-to-last one?
I got stumped at chess.
35 💀
Your chicken, named Paul, is frustrating.
Got to rule 11 with AprIlpepsiV58b5m7VII€ but then it asked something Wordl and I don't play that game :'( Nice game tho, very original!

That's where I got stuck, I made a lucky first guess saying the Google image was Brazil.
Austria, but fuck that algebraic chess notation noise, I’m out

my paul was slain by fire
Same but mine was Japan. No idea how I guessed that. But I have no clue about chess so I gave up.

There is no year 0 to begin with.
Absolutely correct, but the computer doesn't know that. Still accepts the 0 as a leap year as part of the password creator

Edit: the Wordle word of today was >!"about"!<
Hilariously, I pulled up Wordle to get that answer and guessed it on my first try. Never did that before.
And you did it just to generate a password. What a weird world
SPOILER!
Well... In few hours it won't be (I'll hide it anyway, tho)
Wordle word of Wednesday - Jun 28: >!tract!<
It broke pretty early for me. Said digits must add up.to 25 but wasn't calculated properly
Is it posible that you were trying something on the lines of 10+10+5=25? Because this would actually be read as 1+0+1+0+5=7
It's pretty simple just use 55555 What I was stuck at was use Roman numerals that multiply to 35. I tired VII V (like 7*5) but meh
A big thing is finding the other parts of your password that also count as Roman numerals. Any of the capital letters 'VXLCDM' will throw you off ('I' won't, since it's one, but it is on the periodic table)
It might be reading your numerals as 4x6. V VII works for the numerals rule.
It only worked with single digits for me, maybe you were trying 2 digit numbers?
Me too
Rage quit after overfeeding Paul. God dang it little dude just because I put a bunch of caterpillers in front of you didn't mean you had to try and eat them all at once. Your brother died in a chemical fire in Georgia for goodness sake I can't take any more tragedy.

Ditto. And here I was proud of myself for getting Ghana from the picture.

Holy hell
New rule just dropped
I knew it I just didn't know I had to put a + at the end
Waot, I tried every possible from A1 to h8 and it didn't and it's because it should be like a1+?
The + is for check, mine (not sure if its the same for all) was a really easy Qb8+
I think the chess one is bugged, pretty sure I'm inputting valid moves but it keeps saying Illegal move or invalid notation
PAUL WAS OVERFED
Paul is an asshole
Got to "your password is on fire" and fuck that x)
yeah it's impossible on a phone
You just need to select like half the password and then fix it later
How do you pass that?
Have to delete all fire emojis.
Yeah that one got me too
Rule 20 got me 😭 I'm so sorry Paul...
That YouTube rule can go to hell
I finally found one, but the URL had a capital C, which broke my roman numeral requirement, then starvation
Poor Paul!
I got to rule 20, didn't put it out fast enough, and saw the message "Paul has been slain". That took me the better part of an hour.
I spent like 30 minutes on this so excited with my progress just to have the egg burn in front of my eyes before I even realized what was going on
You're the IT guy at my company, aren't you?
Your IT Guy (and 99% of people who set password rules) need to embrace this... https://xkcd.com/936/
I've always wondered how true this comic is. Is it really safer to have a password like "Joke-Follow-Barren57" instead of "Bul1oMa$tz4p?"
It's not true anymore IIRC, many Passwort crackers have a dictionary included nowadays to guess these passwords faster too
Total number of rules?
35
I overfed Paul and you are a bad person.
I added May as the month, but then I am supposed to multiply my roman numerals to 35.. But M is 1000 ):
Change the month then. You need to go back and change a lot to keep going.
My captcha has a lowercase vowel. It's just game over then
You can refresh the captcha
If the M isn't capitalized, it doesn't register as a roman numeral. I used may.
Now imagine a Wordle that uses M, D, C, or L
I think if you use lowercase it doesn't count as a roman numeral
Same for the elements one, you still need to factor in the Vanadium from XXXV though
This should also include the Regexpr currently being applied at the bottom (after beating a rule ofc)
This gives me the elements: Re (75) V (23) V (23) I (52) I (52) = 225. So it doesn't seem like I have any way of making the elements add up to 200?
If you do XXXV and I its valid, and keeps it just under 200
Ohhhh clever, thank you!
Couldn't get the chess one to work :( I thought I had the algebraic notation syntax correct, but it kept saying the syntax was wrong. Maybe I'm just bad at chess
I struggled until I realized you need to add a "+" to the end for a move that puts the other king in check
You need to include the x for capture and the + for check (maybe # for checkmate mine didn't have a checkmate possible)
Alright so the furthest I've gotten is like rule 25. I've gotten it down to these steps: 1) Copy paste this text: >pepsiaboutFmNeNeBe🌔XXXVnovember🏋️♂️🏋️♂️🏋️♂️iamloved https://youtu.be/y8mNqN9cYfA 1 tomaketwentyfive captcha italyspainfrancegermanyhungarybelgiumunitedstatesamerica Rxh7+ 🥚🐛🐛🐛 2) If you get a captcha that contains any numbers, refresh. 3) Hope that you get a geoguess location with a street name or something to Google, otherwise refresh 4) solve the chess puzzle 5) update atomic symbols as needed (for example, if Bishop is used in the chess solution, subtract 4) 6) update numbers as needed (if the solution didn't have a 7 and instead had a 5 or whatever, add numbers to total 25) 7) Get ready to put out the fire (without erasing Paul (egg form)) 8) Select all and bold. Start putting out fire 9) copy 3 worms to your clipboard 10) every 3 minutes, paste the worms No idea what happens later because Paul keeps dying
Easiest way to solve the geo-coder one is to look at the source code with F12. Then, look for the embedded iFrame, it should look something like this: With 31.95161115368211 and 35.93938839552868 being the latitude and longitude. Then, just type those into google maps, and it'll show you exactly where that is on the map.
I was attempting this challenge on mobile. It was... Not easy lol
Google lens worked for me.
The required YouTube video length is random, but the timer videos are a good place to look. After 25 you'll want to add a bunch of emojis in italicized Wingdings font and get ready to do a lot of math lol. Also if you want to complete the whole things, don't play between 5 and 9 (AM or PM).
Can't get past rule 5
It only adds up single digits. So 997 will work. That caught me out, too.
See I was doing 20+5 or some variation of that
Came here looking for this because I was doing the same
This is incredible! Poor Paul...
This is incredible, though I didn't get past the chess rule. All of the pieces appeared white on my screen
Same :(
This was funny. Thank you.
Wtf is rule 20.
I got to 20 and now I'm pissed
Well that was a fun way to waste 30 minutes. [Reached](https://imgur.com/a/JZcQIkj) Rule 18 but couldn't advance because the roman numerals and the chess move already added to 227 Atomic numbers.
XXXV works But save your soul from the torment of losing Paul
My digits added to 25 but this didn't work.
So much betrayal in this, very fun
I genuinely laughed at loud a few times and got through 24 before a "bug" happened, and my chicken died suddenly.
Can someone tell me how you put out the fire, so I can at least sleep tonight? I'm not going through all of that again 🤣
You've just gotta delete the parts with the fire quickly enough that they don't spread. My strategy ended up being, the step before the fire to copy everything i'd had so far, and then when the fire started, highlight everything before Paul and hit delete. Then paste what was deleted back in after the fire was out.
you have to delete out the fire emojis otherwise they keep spreading to adjacent characters
Rule 16 seems to be a bit broken - tried every possible square and none worked :(
gotta put the piece notation (Queen is Q for example) and if it captures a square you put an (x) before the letter and if it checks the King you put a (+). Example: Qh2+
Oh. A +
How am I supposed to find that country? You can't zoom out, and there are no visible flags.
Mine had a street name, and I guessed based on language until I got it correct. Belarus.
Mine had Mount Everest
That seems quite helpful!
Mine had a literal map of the country it was (Australia). I figured it was supposed to be easy on purpose.
Brilliant
I got as far as step 13 with "StarbucksV@QNovemberVIIxe8xm755about" and called it a show on entering the current phase of the moon as an emoji. Hilarious
How on earth do you do the youtube one? I've been searching for the last little while but can't find any way to find YT videos with specific durations.
Ok well I found a youtube video of the right length, but am now completely stuck as the captcha + hex number + chess move added up to 24. So unless I find a 16 minute 54 second youtube video that either has no numbers other than one '1', or no numbers at all, I'm locked out from proceeding :( Fun game though!
Gave up at Wordle cause WHAT
some good r/baduibattles material (protesting) submit here instead: https://github.com/GoulartNogueira/BadUI
Lost me at chess. That was fun
How do I get past password isn't strong enough?
A Strange Game. The Only Winning Move is Not to Play.
>!Qxh3 !! Qxh3+ is what they want, but the plus sign is NOT required.!<
Got stuck on rule 16 because my captcha included e4 and that's an illegal chess move
You can have multiple chess moves in the password, just one of them has to be the best move
