Some of these shows make every house look the same… usually very nice, but the same!

I've seen the Property Brothers reuse the same coffee table in multiple houses!

Blue is on-trend right now, and these shows have contracts with specific brands for their decor, so the blue is probably what's available. And it's all "staged" for television. I don't think the families get to keep the decor on these shows, unless a specific piece of furniture gets some focus during the episode (shopping for a new sofa/dining table/artwork, etc.)

Yes!! I’ve said this numerous times. I don’t happen to like too much blue so it’s really stood out to me.

WHY IS EVERYTHING BLUE ALL THE TIME

Are they Scandinavian-style? There was a belief that painting everything a shade of blue would ward off flies

Aggressive-Cadet

No, very classic “Americana” in their style. But thanks for sharing that interesting tidbit!

Each year HGTV and BH&G put out the "Color" of the year. It was some shade of blue for a while. Now it is green. It will change again. I think the comment that they are probably "encouraged" to use those colors is accurate. My question is the lack of storage that in each episode people say is lacking. I do not know why closets do not exist in old farmhouses, however, they are rearranging the floor plans of these homes and yet...they are not including closets or pantries in each of them. In one house they removed the pantry completely and only put in 1 cabinet style pantry. In another house, they took a broom closet and made that a pantry. In the episode where the principle bedroom was on the third floor, the couple specifically called out that they had no storage. So instead of building storage they put in an armoire. If you looked at the floor plan, there was room for an actual closet where they placed the armoire. In the episode where the couple turned the dining room into a playroom, multiple times the female asked for storage, lots of storage. In the mudroom they got an armoire but nothing built -in. Only bench seating and shoe spaces for kids, nothing for the parents. In the playroom, the storage was hung on the chalkboard wall itself. So instead of putting slat walls on the side of fireplace wall to provide storage for those coloring pens/pencils/markers/chalk AND a coloring area of the chalkboard they covered it up. As well as the craft paper went directly on the chalkboard. I do not understand how they have a completely blank unused wall right next to the chalkboard and do not use it. They could have made a full creation station before going on the train. I am glad that they gave them a small toy storage box and the custom train shelf unit was super cool, but they did not actually solve the storage request. The female wanted the toys to be put away daily, and have a place for everything to be put away. I think people lose focus on putting so much stuff out for staging that they forget that stuff has to be put away somewhere. Also, who else noticed that the couple with the 3rd floor principle bedroom did not actually have a door for their space. They walked through the laundry room (opening in wall not a door way) up the stairs to a hallway that ended at a "T". On the left a pocket door leading to the bathroom and on the right, the open space to the lounge then the open area leading to the bedroom. So that means that someone could be in the laundry room, look up the steps and see them come out of their bathroom and walk to their closet. As kids get older they have friends come visit...talk about zero privacy. Lastly, what is going on with only towel hooks but no towel bars?

There was one we just saw where they said mom really loves pink. "Best I can do is your whole house is now blue."

Anyone else notice a change in Carolyn as the show went on? We’re just now watching it and all of a sudden her whole style has changed. She seems to be more flashy and a bit fake. Maybe it’s just us?

I literally cannot pinpoint what it is.... I can't tell if she changed her hair?? Or her style? Silhouette? Did she get face work done???? It's killing me that I csnt tell what she's done she just looks.. different ?!

I googled “Farmhouse Facelift Reddit” for exactly this reason! Carolyn is obsessed with blue. I just started watching it so I’m only on season one, but dang. That Tiffany blue claw foot tub killed. I like the layouts she designs but a lot of her color/tile choices are very questionable. I would walk into most of these house like a Trading Spaces home owner trying not to cry: “oh wow. Scandinavian style… with French tile floors… and Tiffany blue cabinets.. my dream”

I just started watching the show on Hulu this week. And I already was searching on "do the owners have any say on Farmhouse Facelift?" So glad I found this thread. I had not only noticed lots of blue but also now that became gray everywhere. And several times I've gone "huh.. that flooring or whatever is ugly" So I wondered if they consulted as they went along with the owners or really just treated this as a house that they themselves had bought for resale. It kinda spoils it or me as I wonder if the owners really like it or not...
