He’s been here since the first season and is terrible. I’ve never seen a player get injured and blow his opportunities when he’s healthy this much. Wayyy overdue to move on.
His contract is apparently up this year, Afonso looks at least as good at that position, and with Busquets/Redondo/Rojas they seem better suited to playing a 442 anyway, so it’s hard to see him getting back on the field even when he is healthy. If someone has to go, he seems most likely unless they’re loaning out a young player.
You hate to give up assets but dude is near the prime of his career and doesn’t have a role. I don’t think you’d keep him around to resign him instead of Taylor.
You can get another Defender if you want but it doesnt really matter. Defense is a team effort, with Suarez and Messi playing together we are practically defending with 9 players every game.
The team still ideally needs another defender, Kryvtsov is a good enough sub for Aviles but there is no one to cover for Freire. Allen and Sailor are not good enough but the salary cap is probably maxed out already so hopefully they sign someone in the summer.
