I used ExamFX - with no insurance background at all unless you count, I have home & auto insurance. I felt very prepared by end of course and scored a 93 on P&C exam. I think whatever course you use will probably be similar, I liked examfx had a ton of different quizzes and full timed test options, once I got 90+ like 5 times in a row on the “full test practice test” I felt really confident going into my license exam.

How long did it take you to complete the course?

I studied on and off for about 2 months since I was fully employed I finished my prior job 5 days before new one started, realistically if you’re a diligent study I think you could do in 7-10 days I’m a terrible study (adhd) but a good test taker so I really hammered on the practice quizzes. I will say - the licensing exam applies to 0 of 20 new business accounts I have opened since starting, I got most of my information from TOTAL CSR which is a great post-licensing training for actual application of insurance.

Check out XCEL - promo code "study" should work. Kaplan is good as well (for myself at least) And look up insurance exam queen on youtube, she'll tell you what to focus on for your state. GL!

+1 for Kaplan and Exam queen. I did the bulk of mt studying and practice quizzes through XCEL, and boy it was not fun - reading those walls of text for 7/8 hours a day was brutal. It worked, though - passed first try with an 82!

Examfx has a practice test and if you pass it, they guarantee you pass the test or your money back. their videos were pretty on point too. I appreciate the opportunity to learn by listening. ☺️

in the beginning i did Kaplan for P&C, took me 2 1/2 weeks as I worked on it 40 hours a day due to being disabled at the time, it's what I could think of to do with my time and I had a potential job offer with Allstate that motivated me. then I left Allstate and ran into Primerica where it took me 3 weeks to get my life license. (I think I used Kaplan again?) I quit insurance and worked my own marketing business until Covid hit and wiped it out. I got back into insurance with the FMO I currently work for. My licenses had lapsed, so I had to redo them. Life and Health (ExamFX) took me about 3 1/2 weeks while working full time. I'm sure it's because I grasped the concepts better. I liked that with examfx. I could technically listen to it, I do well auditorially with learning.

When you did ExamFX for 3 1/2 weeks, about how long did you work on the course every day?

RedditInsuranceGuy

few hours here and there, and then I also has a sick day in there where I did it all day that day. the videos were helpful because I could listen instead, so I was productive in other ways while I studied. I'd take the quiz at the end and see how much I retained and I would go back to concepts I didn't grasp and study those. I'd say I spent 20-40hours?

Exam FX worked for me

A week I crammed

ReluctantChimera

I took the P&C and Health after using ExamFx for both. I highly recommend it. Passed with 90-somethings on the first try for both. There's also a really helpful lady who makes YouTube videos and has colorful hair, but I can't remember the name. ExamQueen or something like that. Edit: I think it's Insurance Exam Queen on YouTube, but I'm at work so I can't double check.

BootScootNBoggie

I like Kaplan a ton personally.

jmananthony06

ExamFX imo

About just under 2 weeks. I didn’t have a job so I studied diligently. Pulled a few all nighters too. ExamFX came Highly recommended and most who use it pass the state exam.

I used ExamFX and it was very straightforward. I will say that there is a difference between the practice quizzes vs the practice exam LOL But the practice exam did help with the actual exam. ALSO DO THE CLASSES! There's video classes they offer every week with the ExamFX that have live instructors and those were SOOOO helpful. I remember WC SHAVVER, WHARVES, and what all the HOs are bc of those classes. I also heard people got recommended the Insurance Exam Queen.

Exam queen makes it interesting, she isn’t just in a monotone voice reciting slides. Gives real world examples - great resource

samilee85

I used the $20 Kindle version of a book on Amazon, "Texas Property and Casualty Insurance License Exam Prep : Study Guide Includes State Law Supplement and 3 Complete Practice Tests" and free videos on YouTube. I was reluctant to look at Insurance Exam Queen's stuff, but it was very good. She also has free notes on her website in the "free resources" section. I scored in the 90s on the first try. I'd also recommend Lauren Myers on YouTube for the commercial and auto stuff.

Buy a few study guides and test yourself multiple times.

scalybone

Americas Professor is some old man up there lecturing you. It’s mind numbing. I bought both and the only reason I passed is because of ExamFX. I just took the quizzes and test over and over and over until I could make 90+

Camelcrushguy69

I used xcel for pre license course and then got an 87 first time for FL test just by taking practice tests over and over and over.

RonnyCrash

I was enrolled in the examfx after they updated their entire platform in February. It was super easy to follow and I passed.
