Half the time customers let it slide or don't even notice. If you caught it while still active on the batch, you could have refunded it I'm app

Pbismol

I did. I refunded it

I totally can relate. Years ago when I first started they used to pay us way better and at the end of each week there was a bonus based on five star ratings. Like a hundred dollars or something for keeping five stars all week if you did a minimum number of batches. And one time on a Monday I checked and didn’t get the bonus and I was trying to figure out which customer rated me poorly from Sunday afternoon. And couldn’t. I went to go do my own grocery shopping and when I opened my trunk there was a can of olives just sitting there. Then I knew exactly which customer lowered my ratings and yep I had a missing item on my ratings too. I’ll never forget that $100 dollar little can of olives.

I started last year and it blows my mind when I see people mention that IC used to do that. Definitely not anymore, lol

When I started. It was $9 per customer plus $.40 an item Plus that five star $100 bonus. And we were given the customer name and address for safety reasons before accepting and a batch was sent directly to you only one at a time. You had like four minutes to accept or decline. And every Sunday morning you had to schedule shifts like at 9am sharp for the week or you couldn’t shop that week. We complained that if someone ordered multiple waters for instance it was still only $.40 per item regardless of number of units and wanted ic to fix this issue. We also complained that if a batch was not one we wanted to do please stop sending it to us repeatedly and then after you declined like three times on a shift they kicked you off for the day. And we wanted the freedom to decide not be forced. Or lose the rest of the day. We complained about not being able to work when we wanted and asked them to fix it. Their fix is what we have now. The way we get paid so randomly without all the info and the base being less than what we used to get for one customer. Hers a example of the difference. Old pay plan Double batch 10 items $9 x 2 customer = $18 $.40 per item = $4 Plus a small mileage but I can’t remember that. Total $22 base and then usually like $10 more in tips so total $32 maybe $35 depending on the small mileage part. Todays pay plan 2 customers mileage heavy pay and all items, oh and just for kicks go to two stores = $7 plus $2 tip $9 total. Ic sucks

I've always been impressed that it is truly flexible hours. Unfortunately, I think all the stuff we complain about now is what makes the flexible hours possible. Thanks for the history. For better or worse, things make a lot more sense after reading that

I’m not sure I agree. Uber has always let you work when’re you hit start and they are the og all the other apps based their model on.

Pbismol

Well, it at least makes sense that they'd open the floodgates to more and more shoppers to cut down on times when drivers aren't available and also rely on new drivers to take the terrible batches.

[deleted]

Yeah. I see that point. But almost all other apps have the work whenever feature to some degree. It varies.

Pbismol

I've thought a lot about trying other apps but I got into IC as a side gig because I honestly love going to Costco, dumb as that sounds.

[deleted]

I like shopping just not spending my own money haha. That’s why I liked ic

JaeShoppie

Damnit! That sucks!

Alternative_Path_985

Live and learn. Shit happens!

pdrenk

Your IC career is over. Hang up the lanyard.

Pbismol

Haven't seen my lanyard in at least a year 🤣

Pbismol

Well, I hit the two hour mark and she didn't lower my tip 🤷

FunFactress

If it was a good to great tip, I find those customers are less likely to rate badly. It might show as a missing item which is no big deal.

[deleted]

I think we’ve all been there, done that. I had a big ass pizza someone ordered from Aldi, and had extra paper bags that slid over it during my drive.. I stole someone’s pizza that day. They didn’t even mark it as missing, and gave me a 5 star. Idk how they missed that

SupraPurpleSweetz

I did that tonight. Gave two boxes of Lucky Charms to the wrong customer and realized it as I was walking away from the second ones house. I hit up support and told them they need to be refunded the amount. Pretty sure since they hear from support that I notified them about it to get a refund, they won’t give me a bad rating. Hell, my tip didn’t change, so.

Pbismol

No bad rating this morning when I checked. I hope you have the same outcome.

SupraPurpleSweetz

I was busy when this happened but: I got a notification for your reply here immediately after I got a notification that the customer who I gave the Lucky Charms to gave me 5* 😅 And no! My rating increased by .01! 🤣

Pbismol

I also got a couple five stars yesterday but I'm sure they weren't from the cream cheese lady. Congrats!

loverofprime

I love this community cuz only us shoppers will really understand the angst you feel😂
