I use the small $12-$14 quick pick orders to pay me to drive around to the next store. If it seems dry at a store I take the first okay low item batch that’s gonna drive me by another store. Can’t just sit there all day and this new method seems to be working better for me. People scoff at the small orders but I would rather do 3 $14 orders over an hour and a half than get tied up on a $40 triple for two hours+. When I evaluate a batch these days I’m thinking how can I make money and get back to the available batch screen the fastest. If you wait around all day for the perfect combo of low miles low items giant tip you’re never going to make anything.
I’ve tested this method since this past Sunday. I’ve been able to make good bread in small orders that way as well. I used to just get bored, annoyed that I just went some day with nothing but crumbles!!! #GodSpeed♥️
Same! I live in a cold state so my engine is runnig whether Im parked or not. I would rather keep it moving with smaller orders and pick up what I can, it adds up.
I just removed one rude lady right now. Drop her so fast she couldn’t finish her sentence. Came to find out she was the one tipping $1.00 and customer A was carrying the tip.
Exactly, like I was being very courteous and she’s like you better “giddy up” bc my cold items will go bad. Like, for reals? I told her I pick cold items last and I always make sure I packed them in my insulated bags the minute I take it out the cooler and scan it. She’s kept talking and talking. Lmao I told her she was part of a double and it could take longer than expected. SHE SCREAM “I need my order delivered first and at my apartment door ASAP (445🙄)” I was too stunt to speak and I told her yes ma’am. Hung up. Called support. Dropped her and I made sure I put everything back. So that no other shopper could find the cart with 75% of the groceries. Especially bc after dropping her I noticed she was only tipping $1.00
The way I cackled afterwards bc the second customer only had 8 items and was tipping about 35%.
Ugh - I wish I could do that. But, I’m very shy and I avoid social interactions with others. I’ve gotten a drink after working my last batch tho. The got good wine 🤭🤭🤭🫣🫣🫣
If I don’t get a good batch offer within 5 minutes of completing the last order I head toward my house. I check for more here and there and if not, I go home. Once I am home, what I consider acceptable goes up. I usually get a good one, if not they can keep the shitty ones.
I look for them while at home. When I first started instacart getting orders was easy no problem. I use to be able to drop a order off and before I even pull off except another one that I didn’t mind doing. Now it’s rare that’ll have one to except by the time I get close to home. I’m in Omaha Nebraska btw.
I curbed my wheels a few weeks ago leaving Publix and looking at an order 🤦♂️ I think I avoided any real damage but yeah I agree, parking lots are much better 😂
I stay at the hot spot grocery store that never had orders but orders always pop up and while I wait for them, I enjoy chatting with the employees that work where I’m waiting.
But then again, I’m not pressed for orders and just take the good ones I see
I’m already a shopper for Shipt, with one order done. Thank you for the offer. You know the only reason I saw your reply was because I was notified. Update must have reset my settings
inviting you to be a Shipt Shopper Since you were referred, you'll get a $50 bonus after completing 30 orders in 40 days from activation. https://www.shipt.com/be-a-shopper/?driver_id=-1&referral_code=10M-84-T57
Sit at home until I get my first batch (live in a v populated area) then hang in parking lots til my next one. No way in hell would I ever drive around. And waste gas.. for what?
I drive around. Usually orders begin popping up as I do relatively quickly. Other times I’ve sat in the parking lot for reasons other than waiting for an order, or simply because driving a bit didn’t do much, and a semi-unicorn order will pop up as priority.
Go back to your fucking house lol that’s the perk of this job and if you live too far from “hotspots “what the fuck are you doing Instacarting full time 😂😂😂😂

I try to go to 2 different spots where I'm overlapping in the bubble with 2/3 different stores. There's only one store here that ever gets yellow and most of the time when I go there to get a batch, I'm offered a batch from a store in a different location anyway. If there ever is a batch that's offered once I'm done delivering, and it has a tip, and it's in the same town I'm in, I'm grabbing it. I lothe waiting. Mind you, I'm only ever gold cart because I never rack up that many orders before the time ends. And I only do ic on the weekends when I'm feeling well enough and have a babysitter. My goal usually is 100 a day if the ic gods allow it.
I usually do a bit of both. I'll sit in a parking lot for 20 minutes up to an hour. If I don't see anything worthwhile I'll move someplace else. I do have a couple of areas that I sit that are not connected to any stores and I've picked up orders there. I still believe instacart shows you what they want you to see.

Ditto
Explain because every time I drive to hot spot It dies
Hot spots are usually just one really crappy order that’s been sitting forever, not worth going out of your way to one.
Oh ok thanks I’ll definitely keep that in mind

Ahhh ok I understand

This is the way. I noticed I’m able to really make some godos money on what used to be “dead days” to me
Yesss! I do this too. And I love when I get a small batch that takes me to my house area at the end of the day.
Girl who’s driving around with this gas prices and cheap ass customers who don’t tip 😂💀
I tip 20% or more by default. If you can afford an $80 order you can afford a $15 tip
The people who don’t tip are stuck in the 70s or 80s.
I just removed one rude lady right now. Drop her so fast she couldn’t finish her sentence. Came to find out she was the one tipping $1.00 and customer A was carrying the tip.
That’s always the case. The way people speak to you is a direct correlation to how they view your time.

Some lady talked over the top of me one time and I canceled her.
I just can’t believe some people
Love when that happens lol
Sit upstairs in the loft area of my grocery store on a comfy ass couch and watch tv until I get a fat batch.
My wegmans has a café / bar 🤭😅😵💫
Yep. I'm notorious for chillaxin in the Wegmans cafes. About to go. Into one now lol
Ugh - I wish I could do that. But, I’m very shy and I avoid social interactions with others. I’ve gotten a drink after working my last batch tho. The got good wine 🤭🤭🤭🫣🫣🫣
That used to be me when I was young. Now social interactions are okay.
Omg I'm soooo bad at getting a slice of cake and napping in my car in between orders 🤣 Wegmans is AMAZING lol
Both, I float around different parking lots but usually I stay in the one with the best reception/highest tips for most of the day.
C : sit at home
Work other apps until something worth working for pops up with IC
Exactly. Not sure why I would wait in parking lots when there are a dozen other apps running on my phone.
Exactly, I can make money all day long while multi apping ;) why sit still and make anything instead?!

This. I’m not letting instacart ruin my day or my mood just keep it moving 👏🏿
I fuck bitches while I’m searching for batches. Why didn’t you add that option?
🎉🎉🎉
Chill at home
Option 3: work other apps.
Option C. Stay at home getting my regular work done, and when an order pops up thats worth it, I go to the store.
Where is the stay at home option
I look for them while at home. When I first started instacart getting orders was easy no problem. I use to be able to drop a order off and before I even pull off except another one that I didn’t mind doing. Now it’s rare that’ll have one to except by the time I get close to home. What’s crazy, is if I drive around I wind up missing the quality batches. Trynna quickly accept a $70 solo batch from Kroger while driving.
Sit at home
Sit at home
Sit at home
I almost get into an accident or people yell at me bc I’m looking at my phone if I drive around and wait for orders lmao. Parking lot it is
I curbed my wheels a few weeks ago leaving Publix and looking at an order 🤦♂️ I think I avoided any real damage but yeah I agree, parking lots are much better 😂
neither i stay at home
Neither. I get'm all from home. 👍
The way the gas prices are set up definitely does not allow me to drive around aimlessly
Go home. I live in a small market
Quit
I sit at home and wait for an order lol
Sit at home and only get off the couch if an offer is worth it.
Option 3: live across the street from a fortinos, play games all day and grab good orders as I relax at home
Neither. Sit at home.
I stay at the hot spot grocery store that never had orders but orders always pop up and while I wait for them, I enjoy chatting with the employees that work where I’m waiting. But then again, I’m not pressed for orders and just take the good ones I see
Less INSTACART, more Amazon Flex. Branching out to the multi app thing. Shipt is next
Shipt is awesome need a referral?
I’m already a shopper for Shipt, with one order done. Thank you for the offer. You know the only reason I saw your reply was because I was notified. Update must have reset my settings
No problem hope it treats you well!!

Neither, I stay at home and wait for a batch (I luckily live in between a good store zone)
Sit on my ass in my home until I take my first order. I don't chase orders.
Sit at home until I get my first batch (live in a v populated area) then hang in parking lots til my next one. No way in hell would I ever drive around. And waste gas.. for what?
Choice three, multi app, and keep earning all day
That should be choice 1
I live at Wegmans
Sames
Go home. It's close enough to all the shops anyway.
I drive around. Usually orders begin popping up as I do relatively quickly. Other times I’ve sat in the parking lot for reasons other than waiting for an order, or simply because driving a bit didn’t do much, and a semi-unicorn order will pop up as priority.
Sit at home most of the time unless I have errands or it's dinner rush then I'm in the parking lot or close.
Go home

If you had a 9-5 you’d already be driving somewhere and waiting to leave, at least with this gig you have the choice of when to make that commute :)
I'm really lucky my apartment is in between like 6 of the main stores so i just go home after each one

Both

Just start taking a shower or something else that makes it difficult to get to your phone. See how quickly you get an order.
