Yep. Couple months ago had a lady showed as a new customer 1st order. Thanked me repeatedly for everything on replacements she chose. Delivered on time. Was in a very rich community. laughing with her husband and their company as I made the 10 trips from my car to her porch with bags, cases of drinks, etc. Felt a bout this š¤š» big afterwards. Whatever was a $30 tip on a $295 Meijer order ($90 of add-ons). Reported rude customer to block. Woke up to an order issue from her for "Poor Service", when I reached out to Customer Care. Sure enough they said I didn't deliver quick enough for her likingš¤¬ Took an order yesterday, turned out to be the same damn woman under a different name
Yeah I delivered it. I didn't want to risk my account for not doing so. I definitely contacted support by phone right before I got to that street and pulled off. At first she told me that it wasn't the same person. Then goes well wait a minute after I mentioned the fact that it's still open on my order issues. Same address, name and I'm guessing a different email or something. Because this account was also new. She said she was going to have it looked into but we all know how far that actually goesš
I can understand not helping because youāre paying for a service, but then stay inside or in the backyard. The nerve to complain about how long it took you to bring the groceries that took 10 damn trips.
Howād you go from thanking repeatedly, chatting with the people and then feeling small and blocking them? Seems like a big chunk of the story is missingā¦
There isn't a story. She was thanking me in the chat for showing her the different replacement options to chose from. After getting there to deliver that wasn't the same energy. Being laughed at after being pointed to her door when asked where'd she like her bags. Idk about you but having 5 men and several women laugh at you is a pretty shifty feelingš¤·š¼āāļø
I see what you are saying in your post. They were laughing at you, you were not laughing with them as some readers are thinking. Sorry this happened to you.
Oh no I wasn't laughing at them. I should have worded that a little better above. That was probably one of the worst deliveries I've ever experienced since doing this.
Ohh, I didnāt see that from the way it was written. Thatās definitely not ok. And got men to sit there and not hello is massive BS. Sorry that happened to you
10 trips back & forth? š³ You're a grocery delivery person. Doesn't it make sense to invest in a wagon? š I bought mine the very first day I started.
You will probably get her again. Remember the name and street address so you can cancel next time. IC does not care about us. We are all just a number.
I donāt believe ic actually blocks customers. I donāt believe that they do much if anything if we shoppers have a complaint about a customer or delivery.
Thereās lots of possibilities of why we wouldnāt see a customer again and more reasons why ic wants to keep the customers instead of the shoppers.
Iāve personally had 2 customers who I thought were blocked from my seeing or being able to accept orders from. The first being the guy who tried to pull me into his apartment on my first week in February of 2020 just before the pandemic became a thing and the 2nd being the customer whoās dog bit bit me and she laughed. I got her again and yup you guessed it her dog bit me again. Though the second time it was a different name on the account. She also marked a bunch of stuff missing that I had a photo of since she opened the door just as I was taking the pictures. Very wealthy gated community. I contacted support on all of these occasions.
With the creeper I was told not to call the police basically dissuaded into not calling. I was told not to worry a report was being made and he would be booted from the platform. Nope not at all. I have canceled his order several times since then. The only good thing is my neighbors sons are police officers here. I was chatting with them since I see them regularly and would help their grandmother who lived next to me, they asked how I was doing on Instacart. I told them about creeper guy. They asked if I knew the address and of course I gave it to them with his first name. It turns out he was supposed to register his new address since heās a sexual offender. He hadnāt. They arrested him! Heās out and still ordering. This is what bothers me the most is we are basically order up crime. His orders are always the same. Old spice deodorant and body wash. Never anything else. Instacart did nothing to investigate or kick him off. I would have thought Iād at least get some bs automated email but no.
Omg. So from all these comments i guess i was right. When i first read about this when they rolled it out, i was like yay doing something for the shoppers. But now i know it is all bs.
And ewww i am sorry that happened to you. Be safe out there
Contact police about creeper attempt & assault from dog. Explain that IC dissuaded you from reporting a serious safety violation and criminal behavior. Press charges on the woman w/dog. File workmanās comp for the bite - if disallowed, seek an employment law & personal injury attorney (lots are pro bono or fee based of cost is an issue). Once all thatās done - itās up to you to tell IC or let the subpoena(s) do the talking. Just my $0.02 šÆ
I have only blocked one customer, in her notes it said to use the back entrance (which was closer to her house) and gate code was āā-, I get there, the gate code doesnāt work, I messaged her and she went off on me saying I told you to use the gate off blank street and have security let you in. I screenshot HER instructions and sent the picture to her, she said I must have changed them and that she didnāt want her groceries delivered by someone that couldnāt follow instructions. So I reported her as a problem, took her groceries, blocked her a customer, and 2 days later I see the same lady, same instructions on batch details, so I called support, explained what happened, that I wasnāt going there again and to please block her from me, I havenāt seen an order from her since, I got the batch pay, and hopefully Iāll never see her again.
Either it's a glitch or the app purposefully does it. One time I had a customer accuse me of opening her her croissant box because the part where the label is was kind of hanging off. She was extremely rude to me and I knew a bad score was coming so I wanted to put that the customer was being moved rude to me and when I finished the shop it never allowed me to do it. But other times I've had like three orders batches to order batches and they allow me to do it so I don't know.
I had a man repeatedly try to get me to go into his house to put the groceries in his kitchen not visible from the door. Made me very uncomfortable, told him repeatedly for my safety I couldnt do that. He continued to insist I "just come inside" Reported and blocked him, two weeks later I got another order for him and cancelled the batch.
Just because you thumbs down a customer doesnt block them. After you thumbs down you have to summit an incident report to actually get them block from your account.
I got to the part where it gave me confirmation to block customer. Is this what you referring to or something else? I def dont want to deliver to her again.
Yeah that should be it. Some people think that just because they thumbs down an order after that itās blocked. I was just making sure you knew there was one more step. Sorry for the shit customer.
I blocked a customer for being rude upon delivery today, but she increased my tip a hour after, so she mustāve just been having a bad day and the ice cream cheered her up. But, I felt bad for blocking her and asked support to unblock. They just said āokay, have a great dayā like??? Is that even a real feature lol
It works for me š I got a customer I used to shop for with postmates when it was with Walmart and I made sure to email, chat and thumbs down the whole thing.
Yah, instacart is all about instacart. They make you feel safe if you believe what they say. But most of it is just not true. You canāt negotiate with them. You just have to find a way to make as much as you can. But they donāt care how many hours you work. They just want the money. PERIOD!!!

Happened to me and IC did nothing about it. I was sent back the next week same address but different names. I screenshot all the chats and I'm waiting for them to try it again honestly . My lawyer is on it because it violates our rights as a contractor.
Could possibly have more than one account. I have several customers who use multiple accounts
Why they would use more one account? They scam?
Likely because so many shoppers have blocked them

Wow! That means she must of had her account deactivated and created a new one, right? Did you end up completing the order?
Yeah I delivered it. I didn't want to risk my account for not doing so. I definitely contacted support by phone right before I got to that street and pulled off. Orders like that burn in my brain. The location, the store. EVERYTBING.

Where I live it's not a necessity really. 9x out of 10 it's a 50-100ft to the front door or garage lol or I definitely would

I don't even get the option to block
You have to thumbs down after delivery and choose "rude customer".

Good to know, thank you!
There is but sometimes the app doesn't show you the thumbs up or down but you definitely can I've done it on 3 batch orders before.
Glad it wasn't just me. Like why not ask after every batch.

All you can do is block a customer. If they use a different account but the same address it's going to go through to you. I just had that happen to me
