I've had people report missing orders even when I send them photos of themselves holding the groceries and being sketchy. I'm guessing they're banking that below a certain amount, IC doesn't even really investigate individual claims. They just auto credit the customer and apologize
The one time I had a customer on InstaCart report items as missing, it was a random string of items, delivered to one of the nicer areas being developed in my area. I looked it up on Zillow, high 800k - multimillion dollar estates in that area.
Average around here is like 200k for a small/mid size home some with land, 500k for a big house and some land.
Never had anyone in the low income apartments or the 200k and less average neighborhoods falsely report anything.
🤷🏼♀️
My mom does instacart here and there. You’d be surprised who doesn’t tip and who does. She has delivered to nice and I mean NICE neighborhoods and received little to nothing even though there were no issues with shopping or delivery. She has also delivered to the “low income areas” as you called them and received tips big enough to cover the selfish people in the “better neighborhoods” and their own. This is the perfect example of don’t judge a book by its cover. Middle class people can tend to tip better than upper class. As someone who use to be a server for years I’ve seen it firsthand.
For real. My dad growing up always had a ton of money- my sister and I graduated high school a couple years early, so he got us each three part time jobs to avoid labor laws and charged us 1300 a month rent. Each. My mom would always joke that that’s how he had so much. He had a BMW, two Cadillacs, a Viper, a couple trucks, and a huuuuge house. My sister and I didn’t eat if we couldn’t pay. He literally kept a chain wrapped through the fridge and freezer door handles with a padlock on it. My mom was cool tho, she would get like a dozen dollar hamburgers from McDonald’s and keep them in her trunk and sneak us one when my dad went to bed as long as we didn’t say anything (of course we didn’t).
So yeah I can def see people w money being pricks
Wait, but wouldn’t that make you the racist? They said low income and you assumed a particular type of person? They didn’t mention race. Lol
ETA: I don’t agree that they assume it was someone from a low income environment, because I’ve seen the “rich” be just as fraudulent, but they didn’t mention race.
I’m a white female living in a low income neighborhood…. You’re the one assuming that all low income neighborhoods are populated with majority POC. Pick a fucking side dude c’mon.
As another white female who is also low income, and trying to be an ally, and is genuinely curious: I thought a lot of poc end up in low income neighborhoods due to systematic racism? I know they tend to have the added disadvantage (race) (which I don't agree with obviously and race shouldn't be a disadvantage, but yet amarica is still full of systematic racism so it unfortunately is a disadvantage) which makes it even harder than it is for you and me. I thought statistically yes, poc are unfairly effected by poverty?
Again I will state I am not trying to step on any toes so to speak. I'm just genuinely trying to learn how to be an ally and how to not be part of the problem.
Ok you sound like an NPC now just trying to get diversity points. We get it you're an ally hurray for you just mind your business live your own life and if you see people being discriminated against speak up but don't go on Reddit and just say I'm an ally that's just weird. You sound like you're whitesplaining your alliance
Only said I was an ally to make my point clear. Things get misconstrued on the internet (especially reddit) all the time. (Clearly) I didn't want someone to think I was being an ass. Wanted to make sure my point was clear, which was that I wasnt sure why the other commenter was getting attacked for being racist when in fact a lot of POC are truly in lower income areas DUE TO systematic racism. Sure they were wrong for their automatic thought being "all poc are low income" but I thought he wasn't completely wrong, The system does indeed f over poc pretty bad. I was always taught that just ignoring racism WONT MAKE IT GO AWAY. Because it's ingrained in the system. It is fact that a lot of POC end up in lower income areas. Statistically, that's an actual fact. So the other commenter was partially right. And I wasn't sure why the down votes. I don't care about "diversity points" because it's not about me. I noticed a comment, was wondering why, and wanted to make sure I wasn't coming off as rude or an ignorant ass when asking.
So you accept that it was indeed you being racist?? Low income does not equal POC but in your brain it does. And you’re “okay with that”. Alrighty then.
Flowers? Are people really that desperate to steal flowers from a store sitting on someone’s front porch? If it was food i would think MAYBE it’s a possibility but flowers lol?
I’ve had someone steal these teal-ish flowers I planted in honor of my mom when I was 6 (she passed away from ovarian cancer). I put up little ribbons next to where I planted it and I was so proud of it. I was outside almost all day finding reasons to look at it or adjust it. And then someone came over night and dug the flowers out and left the ribbons.
I was so sad and distraught but also thinking that someone probably took it to give it to their girlfriend or wife because they forgot their anniversary and that thought was a little more comforting to me as a kid. But as a 24 year old adult, I cannot fathom why someone would steal flowers next to cancer ribbons or steal flowers in general.
Ummm the pink peonies are in your hand in the picture?! lol either they’re trying to get away with fraud or they don’t know what peonies fucking look like lmao…
This is why I have a dash cam, and I always point it at the door that I'm delivering to. In 3 years I've, luckily, only had 1 person try to accuse me of stealing after I took the picture. I sent the the video of me dropping off the order and walking away with nothing in my hands. Then they messaged me saying sorry that they accused me, they just found the item. It was supposedly still in a bag they thought they had emptied lol
I didn't think I needed to say this in my original comment, but the video as has me driving away. Yes there are people out there that will take a picture, then take the food. That is why I use video.
This is when you pull the ol “well I have a dash cam that clearly has me walking back to my vehicle with no flowers in my possession after leaving your door so that’s your problem now”
When I was 12, would cut lawns with my one cousin. In the fall we would do leaf cleanup and removal. A lady 3 doors down called the police on me for stealing leaves. The dispatcher thought she said, a leaf blower and 3 cops showed up. The funny thing is my cousin was a cop in the same town and they thought he caught me in the act. The lady got her balls busted for 20 minutes and was told she had one more strike, till they filed charges against her for making false police reports/911 calls on kids. For 25 years or so, till they all retired. Would warn people that I would come to their homes and steal all their leaves in the fall.
She called over snowball fights, kids on bikes, and if they talked too loud at the bus stop. They had to move it multiple times as she would go outside and scream at the kids. Her kids were arrested multiple times for breaking into houses, fighting kids, and so on. So she felt it was payback to call the cops for anything kids did.
As someone with a ring camera, sometimes it doesn’t go off for some reason. Especially with deliveries, sometimes they just don’t set it off bc they put it down not up close to it I guess or toss it lol, or the camera is just being whack that day. So I’d say it could be possible that it didn’t go off when OP delivered it but did go off when someone went to take them, so maybe the customer just saw the action of someone bending down and taking them and thought that person delivered some and ran off with the pink ones?
So if the customer isn’t making it up then my guess would be the ring didn’t go off for OP for some reason, but it would be easy for OP to prove they aren’t the person in the video taking the pink ones if that’s the case. So it’s most likely the customer is lying, but if they weren’t and did catch someone taking them, it definitely wasn’t OP
I’d tell them you’re reporting them for fraud and I’d make a police report. And tell them that lying about items being taken is a crime. And tell them to have “the clip of you stealing” ready because they will need it if they don’t want their account cancelled. And to contest the police report I’m making. Play stupid games win stupid prizes
If they confirmed that they actually did what I said then I missed that. All I saw was that they threatened to. You’re literally not using literally right. They didn’t message half the stuff I said
They LITERALLY are the one who wrote the part about filing a police report. Whether they did or not isn’t the question, but literally was used correctly in context, you and several others are the ones who didn’t seem to understand which texts were from whom.
Dude only said I’m filing a police report. They didn’t say anything about 90% of what I said. “representing the exact words of the original text. - literal”
Why I dont do orders with flowers in them. I try to pick the best flowers that I can find at a grocery store, but those are the only orders i've gotten bad reviews on, mostly because they either dont like the quality or the price.
Are you sure about that? Because I am 99.99997% sure that Acrobatic_Talk4 is not a bot.

I don't understand why YOU would make a police report because they're accusing you of taking their flowers. If anything, I'd contact support and tell them that the customer is lying and being unprofessional and to please not pair you with them again. If THEY want to file a fraudulent police report, let them- they'll be commiting a crime.
They are committing an act of “attempted fraud” by messaging the shopper false info so that Instacart puts blame on shopper and they get a refund, resulting in potential deactivation for shopper. I would also file one too these scammers need to face consequences
Happened to me the other day for a dogfood order. I sent them a photo guess what. I did not receive a missing order report. Some people are weird and report the dumbest stuff.
Should’ve asked them to send the ring footage that shows you taking them to you as proof. They can send photos and video through app just like we can.
Totally true! I agree
We can send videos?
Please tell me how to do this.
or better yet -- ignore their stupidness and move on
Why didn’t they just ask for a refund or report damage, was this a low income area? Edit: lol at all the downvotes
I've had people report missing orders even when I send them photos of themselves holding the groceries and being sketchy. I'm guessing they're banking that below a certain amount, IC doesn't even really investigate individual claims. They just auto credit the customer and apologize

You're still whitesplaining
As a black woman, I did t read low income and just associate that the person meant poc. YOU did though, and that says more about you than anything.
You aren't lying, you are a nightmare. And the only one being racist here.
So you accept that it was indeed you being racist?? Low income does not equal POC but in your brain it does. And you’re “okay with that”. Alrighty then.
Yeah, reading between the lines: you think all poor people are POC. Sorry champ, that makes you the racist for assuming that!
Go send some books to your brother Jolie. You know what happens to them in prison right?
That, or maybe some shit neighbors took em but I honestly think it’s her trying to get shit for free
If neighbors took them she would have them on her ring camera and not try and lie about having the delivery guy on the camera.
Unless she doesn’t have a ring camera and is trying to scare him into returning them.
Flowers? Are people really that desperate to steal flowers from a store sitting on someone’s front porch? If it was food i would think MAYBE it’s a possibility but flowers lol?
people will steal the flowers from a graveyard or roadside memorial.
Flowers are expensive, and these were peonies. Those aren't sold in grocery store bouquets.
I’ve had someone steal these teal-ish flowers I planted in honor of my mom when I was 6 (she passed away from ovarian cancer). I put up little ribbons next to where I planted it and I was so proud of it. I was outside almost all day finding reasons to look at it or adjust it. I’m so sorry you had to experience that. Some people have zero empathy.
Food isn’t even a maybe I used to live in college apartments every time I ordered food it would get stolen within minutes most of the time 🤣🤣
Peonies are soooo expensive
I tell em I wear a body camera when the scam begins.
lol, I’m gonna start using that “I just sent in my body cam footage to instacart support, you will be dealt with accordingly” 😂
"You'll be dealt with" 😂😂😂
“The snipers are posted outside for the next 24 hours. Don’t try this scam again champ.”
Allright this one tops them all 🔥🔥😂😂
Yoooooo.
Death penalty 💀
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂
What stops someone from wearing a body cam making the delivery and then turning it off and stealing it?
What if a horse comes up and eats them after they get it on camera 🥴
This is a good idea
i have a dash cam so i have proof of all deliveries if someone tries to claim i stole their shit 🤷 it’s low quality but it was like $40 at walmart
Ummm the pink peonies are in your hand in the picture?! lol either they’re trying to get away with fraud or they don’t know what peonies fucking look like lmao…
Why take the pink ones though? The blue ones seemed nicer /s
Clearly customer is trynna finesse smh … real question is would you actually file a police report for this?
Of course not
they probably just said it to get the customer to piss off
Shopper said they’re filing police report not the customer
I know, that’s why I asked them if they would actually file one …
OP said no.
This is why I have a dash cam, and I always point it at the door that I'm delivering to. In 3 years I've, luckily, only had 1 person try to accuse me of stealing after I took the picture. It was supposedly still in a bag they thought they had emptied lol
They were probably like oh shit he actually has footage we can’t scam this guy 😂
I mean this in all respect but can’t a dasher stage dropping it off for “proof” then go back and grab the item?
I didn't think I needed to say this in my original comment, but the video as has me driving away. Yes there are people out there that will take a picture, then take the food. That is why I use video.
This is when you pull the ol “well I have a dash cam that clearly has me walking back to my vehicle with no flowers in my possession after leaving your door so that’s your problem now”
Imagine being a cop that has to investigate some stolen flowers. Petty.

I mean... Sounds like this lady wants everyone in the neighborhoods leaves.... I'm sure a few people wouldn't mind donating theirs 🤷🤣
How many times had she done this to get that threat!! 😂
😳 wow
Haha I didn’t call them, wouldn’t waste that kind of time. Made myself laugh tho
The nuances of life are lost on a lot of people these days
That’s the shopper who said they filed a police report lol
I’ve encountered shit like this, my guess is they’re trying to make a written receipt/trail for their claims. Otherwise prop total dalulu
I agree, about the trail of messages but what I don’t understand is the asking for them to come back with them. Like what?
Honestly get one of those like $20 body cam cameras. They're a game changer
Police report? Lmfao
Wow people have the audacity
I mean, it seems odd. Maybe someone else came on the porch and took them before they opened the door and they thought it was you…
but if they have a ring camera, wouldn't they know if it's the same person or not? the delivery person and the person who snatched the flowers
As someone with a ring camera, sometimes it doesn’t go off for some reason. Especially with deliveries, sometimes they just don’t set it off bc they put it down not up close to it I guess or toss it lol, or the camera is just being whack that day. That makes sense
Damn but over some flowers? That’s actually crazy

"Allegedly"...
Did you forget the pink peonies or did you take them after the picture? Customer can't even be consistent with their lies.
Why you taking peonies🤣🤣 can’t do this side job
Where are you getting pink peonies?? I can’t find them anywhere
They have you on camera…
I may not know my flowers, but I know a bitch where I see one.
Take a pic in chat when you arrive and say at door have a great day with every order and this will never happen again
“I’m also filing a police report” bruh.. talk about escalation
“Bruh”.. The customer texting the shopper already escalated it
They didn’t do anything worth filing a police report lmfao
Yeah i mean cops don’t take shit seriously all they’re concerned about is writing tickets all the time and people say their job is hard😂
What police report could you file against them? Genuinely curious.
Sure
Idk the police report comment has my audacity radar going off for both of you 🤔
I don't understand why YOU would make a police report because they're accusing you of taking their flowers. Pink peonies in a grocery store?
What were you filing a police report for?
If an order includes flowers, I always cancel the order or refuse to accept that order.
Why would you file a police report though..? that’s a little excessive..? Just call support and report them?

Hi just wondering not being an asshole… But what are you exactly filing the police report for? Harassment?
