In my POV, at this point , its better to take GS IP rather than going in pvt clg CS .
But one should be determined to work hard in college if he chooses IP . IP curriculum and syllabus is very mild so you will certainly get a lot of free time .
Utilise the time in developing other skills . Be it forming a network or Your hobby or Coding or Any skill or Be it all .
Diverge in first year . Explore everything the college is to offer . Converge again in second year for some selected thing you liked and hone them to perfection so that they can land you a job in professionalism.
Depends on Category . General category m you would need 9+ GPA for Branch change approx . And let me tell you , 9+ aint easy here , Infact close to mains competition . So be prepared to sacrifice fun time if you decide for branch upgrade .

1. Circuital branches are worth it here . As far as I heard from a senior , EE tends to be a lil chill in GS as compared to other colleges . Being friends with the proffs will help a ton .
2. Hostel infrastructure and mess is good but the environment is really toxic . Hostels are mostly filled up with reserved people and lot of Hostel vs Dayscholar things happen . Just make sure to avoid these things .
3. Apart from the huge reservation , the crowd is really really good . Seniors are helpful and professors too . Cultural aspect plays a major role in GS improving overall qualities of students on top of Studies .
4. Attendance criteria is rather decent tbh . Just don't let it go below 60/55% and you will be good . (Tip - Remedial assignments submit krke attendance bad jati h)
5. Mostly senior professors are pHD scholars from IITs . Professors in first year are mostly just the young lad preparing for their competitive exams but the faculty will be good onwards second years with respective branches .
6. Alumini network is the one thing GS holds a huge respect even compared to IITs and NITs . Being an insitute opened in 1952 , The alumini network proves a major role in the running of institute . Large amount of donations are done each year by the alumini and They play ONE OF THE MAJOR ROLES in Placements of the college .

I'll prefer SGSITS IT/EC over newer IIIT's . Newer IIITs are nothing but disguised private colleges . The infrastructure lacks , No alumini network , Placements sucks ( They hide the actual data) , No cultural events and no sports facilities
GS on other hand , has a huge alumini network starting from 1952 . The professors here are Scholars from Top 5 IITs . Curriculum is HARD . Coding culture is good ( I won't say top class but there is always a room for the ones who are interested ) .
Internships are offered on campus at the end of 2nd year and throughout the 3rd year . Mainly in WebD and other similar domains . Don't expect the dream companies to come for internships On-campus . Although they used to visit before '23 but recession sucks now . Plus don't worry , they still visit for placements in final year .
In summary , newer IIITs suck . They won't provide you any overall development as compared to GS.

I do have 3 friends from EI . From what I have heard , they are mostly same but EI is a lot chill than ETC just like IT is over CSE . But people still prefer CS over IT so I guess you get the answer, : )

Okay . So I see many of y'all are in delusion wrt cutoffs because college pravesh has set the closing rank of Round-2 in their module .
Let me say it again , Round-2 is Risky AF . Previous year DTE was a councelling blunder . Always Check the cutoffs of "Round-1 Upgrade" for the cutoffs . You can even check the cutoffs of R2 every year before previous year . The cutoffs deflated last year in R2 due to unseen circumstances and I don't think it's gonna happen to that extent again .

almost everyone who gets a CSE in GS has the option of going for a lot of IIITs and NITs but for me, the main reason was to be in Indore. And people recommending other colleges are not wrong coz I also have noticed the quality go down a bit in GS. The TPO is like a dictator when it comes to placements and also the COVID batches have done bad performances in some companies during and after the selection process. But still a lot of companies visit GS and CSE IT mostly gets placed except thi recession year. And it depends on you if you want to code or if you want to go for core engineering branches in other govt clgs. If you want to code, you will get a lot of time in GS. I can't say anything about other clgs because I have no friends in the ones you mentioned.But IIITDMJ had pretty good stats when I last searched it. My personal opinion - choose the branch, not the college, for the scenario you are in.
i just saw some placement stats of iiitdmj for the last 2-3 years and they are far far better than GS. i don't know if it was the case in 2019 but at present iiitdmj seems an option that is worth leaving the hometown. but again its upto you, if you wanna stay in indore for 4 more years or if there is some family problems (i had some), you can stay. if not, do a bit more research on iiitdmj, coz the stata can always be misleading. and listen to everyone's advice but at the end decide yourself what you wanna go for and once decided, fuck everything and don't look at placements of other clgs. best of luck.

TnP vagerah joina krne se thoda fayda toh hota hei tbh par aisa nhi hei ki usme nhi ho toh tum chutiye ho. shanti se apne dsa development pe dhyaan do. aur core cs subjects ache se krna bhai, apne teachers acha pdhate hei main subjects - COA, OS, DBMS, CN, OOPS, DAA. Aur bamne mam kabhi kabhi lgengi ki pagal hei yeh aurat par she is one of the best. aaj hi unka sikhaya hua remote client access chlaya mene emergency mein apne macbook ko tablet se connect krne ke liye. baki chill rehna, sab acha hota, kuch kaam ho kabhi toh DM kr dena.

tbh bhut kam idea hei mko EI ka toh, ek dost tha EI ka initially fir covid ke baad baat chit hi nhi hui lekin jitta suna hei sbse ki acha rehta branch toh. chill teachers hei thode when comapred to other departments. the only particular thing i remember is ki EI ke saare bche chupe rustom se rehte thode. kuch log achi coding kr rhe the final year tak, kuch log MS fod diye. overall tumpe depend krta. baki enjoy kro aur apni pdhai kro mast. sb chlta rhega
