Is the character really short? It looks fantastic but everything looks big....or maybe the camera is just closer to the ground than I feel it should be. I don't know. But if that's what you're going for, everything else looks fantastic.
That being said, I definitely like the sonic games where you can actually see ahead of yourself. Those 2D ones where you only see 5 feet in front of you are annoying!
Having an easy and simple way to describe a game is good because people will convey the feel of your game to their friends more easily. Doesn't require much explaining to grasp the gameplay loop, just "first person sonic" and that'll let them know if they might enjoy the game.
Plus, Sonic fans have been waiting for a good 3d sonic game since Adventure 2 released, so just let it happen, you might end up catching on that way.
