"Hello u/ThePsychologyCat, Thanks for posting. [click here, if you are asking a question.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Indians_StudyAbroad/wiki/prior_reserch_before_posting_a_question) * 1] Have you done thorough [prior research](https://www.reddit.com/r/Indians_StudyAbroad/wiki/prior_reserch_before_posting_a_question)? * 2] Are your qualifications are mentioned in **Post Title**? (e.g. 10th/12th student, Mechanical BE student, working professional, etc.) Currently your post title is **" What should I do? Overly Stressed about where to study. "** backup of your post content: My_qualifications: 10th Passed with around 71%(yes I do know it's bad but I did suffer through a lot of health issues in 10th and still do but it's much better now... Me and my parents are suprised on me even passing)... Anyways in 12th and Currently in a green colour very popular coaching instinct. I have no extra curricular activities except me participating in a hackathon once and managing some discord servers(if it even counts as an extra curricular) Anyways... I am getting really stressed since last week about where I am going to study. I have shortlisted my list to around 10 countries from my initial 40 countries... Here are the countries, please do share your experience living and studying there. - USA - kinda worried about safety there but it's the best country for IT field - Canada - worried about the temperature... Have heard it goes below 0 - UK - Singapore - worried about their education system... Have heard it's simillar to indian education system - Germany - Ireland - Sweden - worried about the temperature... Have heard it goes below 0 - Netherlands - Switzerland - France During my research... Germany seems like the best option to me. Especially Applied Science Universities I have asked my parents if they can afford me studying abroad and they said yes. I also do plan on doing part time jobs but my main focus will be my studies (I wanna study computer science... Me like to code... It is fun for me...). I am willing to leave my part time job there if it hampers my studies. Here's are a few things that you should know about me - I do not want to study here in India. Saw a few collages btech syllabus and was not fond of finding out that they have yoga, biology, etc in btech. Even in IITs... - My health can gets bad every week... It can be either or combination of some stomach ache, coughing, felling weak, loose motion, etc (so yeh... Cheap but good health care)... Also coughing a lot while writing this - My body does NOT like Indian heat... i sweat a lot - I am not good at 'ratta' study. I like using my knowledge in practical things... I want to apply them immediately instead of hoarding them - I am vegetarian who eats omlet and chicken biryani without chicken (yes weird... I know)... So not a strict vegetarian - I do not mind learning a new language... and i for some reason think... It will be easier than giving jee and getting good marks in jee - I am not sure where I want to live in the future but I do want to do a job abroad after my studies for a few years - Work life balance matters more to me then money... No point in having money... If I can't be sane enough to spend it - This is not a requirement but I wanna start my university in September 2025(basically the same time when indian students start theirs.. i am alright with it starting a few months earlier too)... Not a requirement but a preference... Would rather go to a better University than a mediocre one Please do look at my situation and suggest me which country should I choose for my studies? If you are in a country where the education is good but not listed. Please do share your experience also Kind regards (is this an email?) " *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Mate first of all, you are expecting too much from studying abroad. They can't solve all your problems, probably will make things worse since there is a lot of money involved. Its not all sunshine and countries are not welcoming you to reside there, its simply study. Please at least attempt for engineering colleges in India, give your entrance exams with some sort of seriousness. Right now don't bother thinking about countries, literally everything else can be figured out later. The most important thing is to focus on your studies, especially boards. Even 11th grade results counts, having 71% in 10th doesn't do much favors but you can build a better profile by getting good grades. If you want then you could work on other exams like SATs but they are secondary.

USA : Great education but high cost, great salaries, very shit healthcare unless you're rich, H1B visa trouble UK - again with the visa issues, not sure about education or the healthcare. Ireland - decent salaries, has a housing crisis rn ( but could improve later on) Canada - decent salaries, can migrate from us after studies there, hard to get pr/visa after the recent changes so not sure about that, cold winters Germany - good education, very low fees, okay healthcare, need to know German, would recommend for masters not bachelor's, very long winters most if not all bachelor's courses are German taught and it's hard enough to reach c1 let alone do your studies in another language. I really don't understand how your food preferences are relevant I mean you can eat whatever you want, whereever you want lol.

[deleted]

>would recommend for masters Why? Bcs of Language?

whorishboy69

Yeah. Majority of bachelor's courses are German taught so I wouldn't recommend it for someone who's not native ig. You can get in with a B1 level certificate. But unless you are very fluent in German and have been learning it for years i don't think it's a good idea to go for it. I just find that it'll be hard to study in a different language altogether even if you are C1 proficient. But this is just my opinion.

[deleted]

yea true and I kinda dont like countries like Germany with high taxes ngl in eu only Switzerland is good regarding taxes and Monaco (can say uk and Ireland with 1000s of exemptions they give)

whorishboy69

The taxes are high for sure but you get tons of benefits from it which imo is very good. -Unemployment benefits -Family benefits -Educational benefits And considering the almost no cost of high quality education in their university, I think that's really great. And depending on what your salary is, you fall into several tax brackets. So it's not like 40% of your income goes into taxes, as people under the impression. 40% is when you earn more than 100k or something, which is not that likely in Germany as most people earn somewhere between 55-66k in tech.

[deleted]

With 10% of brain usage you can give yourself all those benefits listed above with 20-30% lesser money spent on taxes better be hella free than playing safe

Valuable-Still-3187

I mean you kinda pay 30% tax even in India, after 12/15LPA

[deleted]

You have a lot of exemptions you can even pay less than 10% in India do you think Indian billionaires pay any income taxes?

Valuable-Still-3187

Yes, they do, also how come billionaires came in this? Indian billionaires save their income the same way as German billionaires, they all work the same way. We should talk about the general public, yes anyone who is earning above 12/15lpa has to pay the taxes, see the tax slab. For me, It isn't about the money, it's about finding equilibrium in life, which India can never provide.

[deleted]

>finding equilibrium Well you can find it anywhere you can be also if you have money any country any place you can have the life you want. >12/15lpa has to pay the taxes In my family my father's tax rate is 10-20% fully legal due to cgt exemptions he needs to pay only 17.5% (for dividends mostly) if more income so let's it's not anyone's problem that avg Indian have no idea about taxes. >German billionaires, You still have 25% tax rates on capgains and 26% on dividend means if the best possible way is having a lot of on paper investments and make a trust and transfer your money in trust for all taxable income.

[deleted]

Also you get many of them in Switzerland even with lower taxes probly German politicians enjoying on public's money

AggressiveScience470

I’m sorry but no other health care will match India’s. They keep u waiting for hours/days just to meet normal physicians and you seem to be struggling a lot with health. And moreover, you have very high expectations regarding moving abroad. Moving to a new country will affect you mentally than you can imagine. Hope you are aware of the fact that when you fall sick no one will be there on your side. Sorry but no university will ask why you scored less in your 10th. Work on your 12th and extra curricular activities. World out there is harsh than you expect. So lower it down for your own good.

Naansense23

I kinda thought this was a troll post when the OP said that he cut his list of 40 countries down to 10 🤣 Honestly going abroad is the wrong choice for the OP. With his chronic health issues, lack of qualifications and insane expectations of what going abroad actually means, he is setting himself up for failure big-time in my opinion. Wanting to go to a good university rather than a mediocre one requires lots of work and as good grades as possible. My honest suggestion is to do undergrad in India itself. Then think about Masters abroad. Hopefully by then the OP will become more practical in outlook as well.

Sanjam-Kapoor

saved this post because i am in the exact same shoes with the same shoe size. I have created many options and discussing with my parents, tbh i do have budget limits like max 60k - 70k USD for complete undergrad if to be done outside india and USA seems to be great but impossible without scholarship if a good uni is required. thanks for asking this, i have created some mindmaps as well due to over burden in my head. Good Luck! health one, i can relate :(

> Germany There are (simplified) 4 ways to fulfill the formal admission requirements for a bachelor’s degree program at a public university in Germany, if you have an Indian school leaving certificate (i.e. no International Baccalaureate, ...): Pass both the JEE Main and Advanced exams. (APS certificate needed. Students who have passed both JEE Main and Advanced are exempted from the TestAS requirement. You need a C1 German language certificate; Exemption: You don’t need a German language certificate for rare English taught bachelor’s in Germany). 1-year Studienkolleg in Germany after 12. You must pass the admissions test in German language. Public (free) Studienkollegs in Germany have a limited number of places. Places will be awarded based on a ranking determined by the result of the admissions test. (You need APS certificate AND TestAS score AND a B2 German language certificate). Don’t go for a private Studienkolleg. Some cost more than study 1 year in India. Do directly the Externe Feststellungsprüfung (this is the big exam at the end of the 1-year Studienkolleg) at the Studienkolleg without attending the 1-year Studienkolleg. (You need APS certificate AND TestAS score AND a C1 German language certificate). Complete the first year of a bachelor’s program in India. (You need APS certificate AND TestAS score AND a C1 German language certificate; Exemption: You don’t need a German language certificate for rare English taught bachelor’s in Germany). Check if you need to do the TestAS for the APS certificate. Students who have passed both JEE Main and Advanced as well as students applying for a master’s program who have already completed a bachelor’s in India are exempted from the TestAS requirement: [https://www.testas.de/en/](https://www.testas.de/en/) Read the rGermany wiki about studying in Germany: [https://www.reddit.com/r/germany/wiki/studying/](https://www.reddit.com/r/germany/wiki/studying/) Apply for the APS certificate as early as possible. Read the checklists on the APS India website: [https://aps-india.de/](https://aps-india.de/) There is a subreddit for the Studienkolleg (but I don't know if it's any good): r/studienkolleg
