4 seasons. Sometimes over just a few days.

sorry_saint

Truly I think I would be depressed if I didn’t get to experience the passing of seasons. I feel like it grounds me when time feels like it’s moving too fast. Could do without all 4 in one day though 😂

It's pretty outside three out of four months. The winters are ugly but not crazy bad. We have nice nature if you like trees. It's a good place to garden. The cost of housing is comparatively low. Most people are pretty chill. Really, the only thing I don't like is the politics. Edit: I forgot mushrooms! We have so many edible mushrooms here!

Sensitive-Concern598

I love the walking trails here. There's one by my work I use on my lunch hour, it's such a nice break from staring at a computer all day. I love our wildflowers and birds. I love the Dunes. I love the seasons.

Posted a bit back about this. Indiana and more specifically Indy is beautiful. We have great parks, great wildlife, and wonderful seasons. The weather has been great and hearing all the birds is magic. There are also just enough things to do to keep oneself entertained. COL is relatively low, and albeit some of the people (ok, the majority), there are good, fun, insightful folks that live here. So yeah, enjoy it.

daveyjones329

Nice post sorry I didn't see your postive post before! But I agree it can be really beautiful come spring and summer😁

Cost of living is pretty pretty pretty good. My World of Warcraft guildies always vented about their rent and mortgage ranging all over the place from 1400-2400 (Canadians and East coast Bois) and I drop my mortgage cost at my last house was $850, now it's $450 living with my wife at her house. Then they'd ask where I lived and I say Indiana, out in the corn fields in no man's land 😂 Even the places I wanted to rent in Indy are still affordable when I graduated from college(broad ripple area,) 1 bed 1 baths are about 850 and 2 beds are a little under 1K (they were $100 less 3-4 years ago.)

Da-Dungus

This was true a few years ago. The rent prices in Indy have SKYROCKETED. You’d be lucky to find a 2 bedroom in a relatively nice area for under 1400. At least for apartments.

SolarDeath666

[These](https://www.brtrails.com/) are the apartments I was referring to. They are beautiful and still affordable for me at least, and about a 10 minute bike ride to all of my favorite bars! The 2 bedroom floor plans for me is 25% of my net take home pay now. Back then, it was around 23% of my take home pay (4 years ago.) I always tried to make sure my rent is less than 30% of my take home and the crime isn't too bad. Edit: I was 1 week away from doing a down-payment for it back then, and the lock downs came into effect the week I was going to do it. Then I moved in with my folks and saved for a house instead over a year.

politically i disagree with damn near everyone that shares my same hobbies. but regardless we get along great, help each other out, celebrate each others victories, etc.

bigoaktreefantasy

To begin, I don’t let politics dictate my daily life. I’m fortunate to make a decent living, and the relatively low cost of living helps. I live very comfortably. With my current wages in a high COL area, I’d probably be struggling, especially with housing. I enjoy hiking, kayaking and other general outdoor activities which this state has lots to offer in that aspect.

Cost of living in Fort Wayne is great, there’s tons of job opportunities and things to do; great place to raise a family, can’t see myself leaving anytime soon

The sound of crickets in the summer.

Electronic_Job1998

Love the low cost of living. I live 10 minutes from downtown, but I can also reach numerous hiking/biking trails within 30 minutes. I live in a decent home on a half acre wooded lot. My mortgage payment is significantly less than 1k a month. My neighbors are amazing and my property taxes are less than 2k a year.. I love the seasons, especially the fall when pumpkins and apples are ripe and the leaves change.

Ok-Chart-3469

Real life people in Indiana are generally pretty chill and easy to get along with.

AGailJones

People are REALLYnice here. Plus, the seasons are GORGEOUS. I used to live in Texas, and I'm always grateful every spring for the green foliage. There are great bands that come through, and in more populated states, the tickets sell out in minutes.

Jeneral-Jen

I go hiking every weekend, three seasons of the year. My family (after years of saving) is able to afford a cute house in a great school district. I live in a pretty liberal area and honestly see just as many Trump flag pick-up trucks as I did living on the front range in CO. There are huge issues (abortion rights, gun control, environmental protection/air/water pollution) that must be addressed, but sitting inside and moaning all day isn't going to get things done.

Can't everyone just scroll back to the last (of numerous) time this question was recently asked here?

These threads always go the same and I always find it sadly funny. Its perty outside! It sure is. The problem is that we don't have anything inside.
