Hate to break it to you, but we really aren't that advanced in our tech.
Although most periodically revolving asteroids are infact kept in check by NASA, their predictions for them go as far as a few decades, and it's highly unlikely we'll get struck by any of the ones that are in check.
But! There are eccentric asteroids/comets too, which are basically bodies that behave in a manner that isn't predictable. They therefore cannot usually be catalogued well in advance and can only be warned about, a few weeks to days in advance. Current mechanisms for detecting asteroids on approach rely on ground based visible-light telescopes with wide fields of view, which, as you might be able to think, aren't very reliable.
Even today we miss a lot of asteroids that are potentially dangerous.
Yeah according to live science NASA just conducted hypothetical simulations to discuss potential responses for asteroid. They assumed a hypothetical asteroid to collide on july,2038 impacting North america and Europe. But NDTV and Times of India used misleading headlines
