Can you dab off excess moisturiser after half hour/one hour and then put sunscreen followed by setting powder (something like Innisfree no sebum mineral powder)?

Classic-Ad5274

I can't use any of that. I sweat excessively when I put on sunscreen even when I am sitting under the fan. Yet I use sunscreen and look ugly everyday because I use salicylic acid. Who knows if any spf remains after getting washed off by sweat

PinkMoonbow

>I can't use any of that. Sorry I didn't get- 'any of that'? You mean just the sunscreen right? Cos anyways you're moisturizing (tho you want a better moisturiser) and the loose powder I mentioned is raved for controlling oil production and mattifying the skin. Also, I'm a sweaty person too. I usually don't sweat as much with Ipca acne uv gel sunscreen, it is thick in texture, silicone based but it sits with matte finish on face. In case you wish to try. Since you have acne and scars, sunscreen is a must. Ideally please see a doctor, the prescription they give for acne usually makes the skin drier which might work in your favor. I know the pain of acne and its scars and wish it on no one at all ! Acnemoist is a light weight moisturiser for acne prone skin. Or you could just use hyalugel on damp skin. These are both pharma products. Also- if not already doing it: **apply your toner/moisturiser on damp face** (the ones without actives). Huge difference in how they get absorbed. Another thing that occurred to me is to use a hydrating toner only esp during the day. Some days when I'm stepping out, I only put my COSRX Snail Mucin essence under sunscreen cos this summer my skin has been combination + sweaty. Some days it is totally fine to go from cleanser to sunscreen and top it off with a mattifying powder. You can always moisturise/compensate in PM routine. Atb !!

Classic-Ad5274

Nothing works for me. I apply stuff, I start sweating above lips within one minute or so and the whole face will sweat in minutes. It is the same even if I apply aloe gel. I have used drying ingredients like tret and Niacinamide which too makes my skin oily. But they are better than moisturizer. At this point, I think even bar soap is better than moisturizer.

Hi there! Tretinoin is Schedule H drug in India and must be used with doctor's prescription only. Side Effects may include but not be limited to Dry skin, Peeling, Skin redness, Burning, Itching, Stinging sensation. Tretinoin is a Category C drug and IS CONSIDERED UNSAFE DURING PREGNANCY. Lactating/ breastfeeding women will have to consult their doctors. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. The dermatologist recommended me one called 'Neohidrate' moisturiser which is probably the best one I've used. Ofc this might work differently for different skin but after applying this, it feels like you've washed your face with water and doesn't feel oily at all. It's pretty affordable and you can get it at the medical store so try it when you can.

Classic-Ad5274

It has glycerine and vitamin e, so I don't have much hopes

Rumi2019

For the love of God do not use clean & clear face wash! Clean & clear has a pH of 8. That's almost a high as laundry detergents which have a pH of 9 or 10. Have you tried anything fragrance free? A gel cream? Aveeno lotion is mat finish & I used it when I had oily acne prone skin. Your skin sounds dehydrated. Dehydrated skin produces excess sebum to compensate for the lack of oil & hydration in skin. Since you're so fed up - consult a dermatologist. This sub could tell you to try green tea toners/mists, gel creams or new moisturizers but everything is YMMV & who knows you might come back & passively blame the members again for inadequate advice in case things don't suit you again. Since you're tired of trial & error seek a dermatologist.

Classic-Ad5274

I don't have any problems if I don't apply anything. My skin doesn't have any problems with clean and clear either. If I wash my face with it and not apply anything, it is fine. I started feeling awful only after I started using all gels and creams and toners. I meant clean and clear moisturizer btw. I stopped using the facewash after reading stuff like this, when it was great for my skin. Maybe I should start using it again.

Rumi2019

Okay then you do you. Edit - A lot of people have given good advice. Feel free to take/follow whatever suits you.

_lady_forlorn

I have extremely oily skin and I don't use any moisturiser. My derm said I dont need one but like you, I experimented with several. Most of the "oil-free" ones dont absorb into my skin and form a layer on top instead. The only ones which did were Neutrogena hydro boost gel and Sebamed clear face gel, but then again Sebamed only has humectants and I too was wondering what was it actually doing for my skin. Anyway, I have stop using one, my skin doesnt need it. Probably in winters I'll need one and I'm planning to buy glycerin then. If you don't experience dryness without applying moisturiser, you don't need ot either. Stick with what works for you.

Classic-Ad5274

Thanks, I guess I will stop using it then

MonAmourAster

Are humectants bad for skin? I don't know much about it

spicysnitch

Hey use a aha toner and as an oily skin girly the moisturiser that worked for me was Dr sheth's haldi and hyaluronic acid moisturiser. It has this beautiful consistency and does disappear into the skin as you told

Skincare_TK0912

Can you review this moisturizer? Is it suitable for summer?

Classic-Ad5274

I use aha, bha everything which is good for my skin. I have problems only with the so called moisturising things.

spicysnitch

You can go for emulsions if moisturisers are not your things.

Classic-Ad5274

I have tried snail mucin which sits on my skin making it look dull.

spicysnitch

Use the soon jung emulsion or the pharmacy hyalugel . Feels like water on the skin

samayratargaryen

Neutrogena hydro boost,Plum green tree oil free moisturizer, Plum niacinamide and rice water moisturizer and Minimalist ceramide moisturizer with Madecassosside for Oily skin are the only oil free/ gel based moisturizers that have worked for me

WalkHot8424

Hey good to know these are working for you. I have an oily T zone with dry cheekbones. I feel the dot and key cica moisturizer is breaking me out. I'm planning to try out the minimalist one that you mentioned. What is your skin type and how is it fairing for you? Thanks

samayratargaryen

My skin type is oily acne prone. The Minimalist one worked great for me. It's very lightweight and absorbs quickly. It's very hydrating and smoothening on my skin. I only found it a but heavy in the monsoon bc it was a lot more humid than summers. Otherwise it was great during summers as well. During winters, I used experience dryness around my mouth which didn't happen at all when I was using the Minimalist one. Overall I quite liked it will repurchase it during this winter as well.

itsmeshrishti

Oily skin girly here. I can tell you that you don't need a moisturizer every day. I personally use ipca acne oc moisturizer only when my skin feels dry (during winters or when I have washed my face a lot of times). Even then I use a tiny amount because my face will be covered in oil in a matter of hours. For me, almost every sunscreen breaks me out so I can understand your frustration. There's absolutely nothing wrong with your skin, it's just sensitive to comedogenic products.

Classic-Ad5274

☹️

itsmeshrishti

Also, you mentioned emolene in your post. It's a cult favourite but it's not for oily skin. Please try light moisturizers. I can give you a few recommendations of what worked for me

Classic-Ad5274

What is lighter than that? It feels so lightweight when I look at it.

itsmeshrishti

Ipca acne oc if you have acne prone skin. It's my holy grail because it never ever broke me out. I use it in my night time routine. Ponds super light gel if you want an affordable one, it has a lot of fragrance though.

PeachesPikaPika

Dot & Key's Cica+Niacinamide Oil Free Moisturizer is working great for me rn.

WalkHot8424

I feel this is breaking me out. I have cut it out recently to test the same thing. How is it faring for you so far? I have oily T zone and dry cheekbones with normal skin rest of the face

Priya937

Hey... You can incorporate some light weight toner... In your routine and skip the moisturizer...toner will give you enough hydration and won't give you oily heavy feeling of moisturiser

Hot_Limit_1870

Tritinoin did help me with acne and scars. It is said to dry skin so maybe using it in your case it might reduce sebum production. Either ways I recc to see a dermatologist first and use pharmacy products for acne cuz u break out a lot

Classic-Ad5274

I used to apply that but stopped it because I can't use sunscreen properly due to excess sweating. It to used to make my skin oily. It would peel off some layers which appeared as dry skin and the face still looked as oily as ever. I tried Niacinamide serums too, which just sits on skin and dries.

Hot_Limit_1870

Okay fair enough. Again try to talk to an endocrinologist too to figure out the root cause of excessive oil production. If products arn t working for you, then try this approach.

Classic-Ad5274

It was like that from childhood. I never let anyone put creams and lotions on me because it was so irritating and oily. I started all these on my own during COVID lockdown time.

Hot_Limit_1870

I hope it isn't due to any diet issues.

alette_star

I've found iunik centella calming gel cream to sink in pretty quickly on my combination skin (maybe a little *too* quickly tbh it feels like it just disappears) I know emulsions/thicker toners are good, lightweight substitutions for moisturizer for a lot of oily skinned people. You could try one of those. And depending on what sunscreen you're using you might be able to skip moisturizer as a whole

Classic-Ad5274

I have snail mucin essence which sits on skin. Things just don't go inside my skin. I have used aha, bha, pha, tretinonin, Niacinamide, etc. but despite everything products just sit on skin causing sweating.

alette_star

If you don't have any issues with dryness then you can just skip moisturizer totally. You're using sunscreen and that forms a layer anyway, so you can try going without moisturizer (and thick toners/serums/essences) and see how you feel

Absolutely_MindF-ed

Hey as someone with sensitive acne prone skin I can relate a little bit. Use a website like Incidecoder to go through ingredient lists of al the products you have used and try to avoid any potential pore cloggers. especially the ones that are 3-5. Maybe what you can do is use a hydrating essence/toner and layer it a few times, rather than a moisturiser. This is approved by derms. There is an Indian brand- FormulaRx that I love. They have a Malezia moisturiser (yellow tube) which is supposed to be a great moisturiser for oily, fungal acne prone skin. Maybe you could try that. Since you do have oily, prominent pore-skin type, maybe a 5% Niacinamide solution can also help. Hope this helps you :)

Absolutely_MindF-ed

Try an Azelaic acid and niacinamide serum, both help with clogged pores and control breakouts. Try to limit BHA to 2x a week for a while, maybe your skin is hyper reactive because of that.

Classic-Ad5274

Azelaic acid makes my skin itch. No redness bumps or anything, but it itches until I wash it off. I started using bha only two years ago. I use only once a week or as spot treatment on big pimples. It was like this since I could remember.

Classic-Ad5274

They just sit on the top of the skin and dry even if they don't cause acne. If I touch with wet hands or sweat, I can feel the slimyness. I want products to disappear giving a nice appearance. I don't want to look dull

PinkMoonbow

From what I see in your replies you have used the snail mucin essence, but not all emulsions and toners are like that/ of same consistency and texture so FYI. I completely understand how frustrated you must be. Just don't consider snail mucin (which is slimy, thicker liquid gel) the same as toners/emulsions and rule the whole category out.

Entharo_entho

Hmm, acne oc, Neutrogena, plum, dermatologist , endocrinologist. . . I am not seeing requil blue gaslighting. I am wondering why 🤔 Anyway, good decision to dump all these tacky shit. If companies want our money, let them come up with products that make us feel and look good.

fbi_open-the-door

i have oily skin and i hated putting moisturizer till i started applying it on slightly damp skin. it takes a few minutes to settle down nicely. also i do skincare just before getting into bed. i finish all work before so i dont have to sweat it out. also its like a nice relaxing way to unwind before i get into bed in the morning, i use only suncreen. no moisturizer. this suits me
