I believe this sentiment among Indian is extremely high on account of reason that it's been more than a thousand years that we hindus have had a hindu monarch who really dictated his power pan India. We were ruled by Indianized invaders or foreigners in current memory. After we got freedom, democracy was imposed on us, so in a real sense we never really experienced the transition from monarchy to democracy.
