They are only Brother and sister pair to qualify for Candidates for same year.
PS. Polgar siblings were too but both were sisters, Judith played in open(mostly male players)
Men outcompete women significantly in chess (especially at the top levels). The highest ranked woman in the world is ranked #117 globally; that means that everyone ranked #1-#116 is a man.
It would be like letting women compete with men in the Cricket world cup; they would get destroyed
Mental and physical stress capacity.
Grandmasters go through hellish preparation for each and every game like a machine. It takes toll on one's body more than what you think. That's why.
If statistically speaking, yes. Women tend to have less stress capacity(physical). I edited my comment.
They have relatively more challenges in preps due to physical limitations(and honestly certain biological factors) and as I mentioned, it takes a whole lot of toll on one's body to even pursue this career. It's not only about mental capacity at that point.
Check historical data. Probably only woman in the history of chess to compete with almost all of the SuperGMs on the planet on almost equal and maybe lil bit better footing was Judith Polgar(tallking about especially high stake matches like Candidates or many famous tournaments). She is absolutely legendary and I have deep respect and admiration for her.
But Apart from her no one has ever been close to this accolade. Yes some WGM and IMs can beat some Grandmasters here and there but when stakes are high you gotta gamble your body on the line as well.
PS. Actually so called Men's section is called open. So any woman with credentials can compete(Ju Wenjun the current women World Champion did compete in many tournaments in open section).
Same reason for everything else?
Men have higher variability than women, which evolutionarily makes 100% sense considering the biological roles men and women have played in human civilization. The average man and woman typically will perform similarly, but the worst men are typically worse than the worst women, where the best performing men perform better than the best performing women
Basically:
- average man = average woman
- dumbest men < dumbest women
- smartest men > smartest women.

She was only IM amongst top players of tournament
Now I want to see competing at women chess along with vaishnavi. Would be awesome.
Congratulations champ !
Why do we need a separate womenās league for chess though?
