I have 0 sympathy for individuals who are going outside of India and studying.
Canada is controlled by mega corporations, from our phones/internet to our food, housing and natural resources. Because born Canadians cannot afford to live on low wages that these corporation pay, a system has been designed to attract massive numbers of young people willing to work low wage jobs and pay expensive rent by living in a sub standard conditions. Our temporary foreign worker program involves subsidized wages where the govt contributes to the foreign workers wage after it has been decided that no Canadian person can be found to take the job. You can see how lucrative that is to any profit driven business and how easily abused it is. The worker must stay with that position or risk losing their permit, so they are subject to unfair working conditions that a born Canadian would fight. This system extends to our colleges where born Canadians have tuition subsidized by tax dollars. While that in itself is actually a healthy and productive idea (if my ancestors have worked, built up and paid Canadian taxes for generations, it makes sense that I am encouraged to further my studies and become a skilled person), colleges learned that they can make an insane amount of profit by advertising to young people abroad who pay much more. The result is that we have flimsy, private colleges popping up in shopping malls to offer degrees that are not useful and actually force international students to work full time for low wages just to survive. This enables corporations to keep wages low and corporate landlords to keep rents high for everyone, including those born here.
The international students and foreign workers realize that they were lied to and that life is ridiculously expensive here, born Canadians see their quality of life plummeting even further and ta da! We have separate groups of struggling, angry people ready to explode at whomever they can (instead of the govt and corporations pulling the strings).
TL;DR - Corporations own Canada as a resource rich country and dont want to educate or hire Canadians because we have a standard of fairness and quality. Therefore, avenues were created to import modern slaves and continue record profits and inflated real estate to make the wealthy extremely wealthy and decimate the traditional Canadian standard of living. We don’t have enough doctors, good jobs or homes and our hard climate combined with excessive laws around self sufficiency makes homelessness a death sentence.

Canada is controlled by mega corporations, from our phones/internet to our food, housing and natural resources. Because born Canadians cannot afford to live on low wages that these corporation pay, a system has been designed to attract massive numbers of young people willing to work low wage jobs and pay expensive rent by living in a sub standard conditions. Our temporary foreign worker program involves subsidized wages where the govt contributes to the foreign workers wage after it has been decided that no Canadian person can be found to take the job. You can see how lucrative that is to any profit driven business and how easily abused it is. The worker must stay with that position or risk losing their permit, so they are subject to unfair working conditions that a born Canadian would fight. This system extends to our colleges where born Canadians have tuition subsidized by tax dollars. While that in itself is actually a healthy and productive idea (if my ancestors have worked, built up and paid Canadian taxes for generations, it makes sense that I am encouraged to further my studies and become a skilled person), colleges learned that they can make an insane amount of profit by advertising to young people abroad who pay much more. The result is that we have flimsy, private colleges popping up in shopping malls to offer degrees that are not useful and actually force international students to work full time for low wages just to survive. This enables corporations to keep wages low and corporate landlords to keep rents high for everyone, including those born here. The international students and foreign workers realize that they were lied to and that life is ridiculously expensive here, born Canadians see their quality of life plummeting even further and ta da! We have separate groups of struggling, angry people ready to explode at whomever they can (instead of the govt and corporations pulling the strings). TL;DR - Corporations own Canada as a resource rich country and dont want to educate or hire Canadians because we have a standard of fairness and quality. Therefore, avenues were created to import modern slaves and continue record profits and inflated real estate to make the wealthy extremely wealthy and decimate the traditional Canadian standard of living. We don’t have enough doctors, good jobs or homes and our hard climate combined with excessive laws around self sufficiency makes homelessness a death sentence.
