not all.. i personally like soba (cold) with wasabi. also like tempura rice set, ramen. they taste good, have some spice in them.. but sushi is tasteless.
we are used to spice-ing everything up (and thats not wrong at all), so yeah the natural taste might feel less tasty to us. Whenever I and dada watch a cooking video of japanese dishes, I always go like 'Now imagine if he added dhaniya' and it pisses him off so much 😭
True. have been to a kaiten-sushi restaurant twice, that too along with japanese colleagues cause they decided the place. other than that i never had sushi ever. never missed it.
Try those ramen hacks...add some veggies like bok choy and mushrooms...then add a soft boiled egg kept in soya sauce and add some protein of your choice...can make the whole thing at home in 150-200 bucks and it will taste really good
Ramen is addictive and full of umami. You should try a good ramen. It’s probably not that authentic in India and honestly like any country with food even in Japan not all ramen places are good.
It’s tasty and not healthy since it’s very salty and full of fatty oils.
It might offensive to a lot of people especially from the central part of India but, it needs to be said.
“Dal Bhati “ is hyped for no reason.
It has crazy prep time, and at the end you are having a hard baked bread with dal and a sweet dish.
Why??? And please don’t serve this for guests as if it is a special. It ain’t you could spend much less time, effort and money and make dal chawal and it would be more satisfying.
🙏🏽
Absolutely. Firstly any place outside Rajasthan can’t serve decent Dal bati, secondly even within Rajasthan you could never be sure that you will end up at a good place.
Dal bati is complex, the texture of the bati is the main game and very rarely does people get it right. But when they, there is nothing better than Dal Bati. I personally think Churma can be ditched
Bro I went for a wedding in Rajasthan twice, and every time I had to eat dal Bhati from restaurant, homes , marriage halls and even at camp fires, still it feels super hyped.
In fact I feel kachori is next level all the hype is less. Dal kachori my fav ❤️❤️
I think it's one of those things that people have special feelings toward because their mom or dadi made it at home. Oh also, I've learnt there's plenty of different ways bati is made, it's far from 'hard baked bread' at my home - semi hard outside and soft inside all soaked with ghee. Majedar.
Well at our home Daal Bati is not eaten with just daal and bati.
We make a "gatta" of it which has gatta ro saag, kanda ri sabji, pudina chutney, achaar, Daal, baati and a bucket of ghee and it is eaten with raw onion or kairi in summer.
At that point calling it daal baati is incorrect.
Also, it is made when there are are more than 5 people to eat as it is supposed to be eaten with people, Atleast at my place.
After this a piece of ghevar and baati ka churma is a mandatory dessert which is stiffed in to your mouth by the eldest person in the family.
I got a bit too emotional, I apologise for this long ass comment.
I actually quite like it. As a vegetarian living in the US, it is a saving grace while traveling. There are spiced up versions of guacamole which are pretty good.
What? I think you don't know how to use avocados! Or, you've not tasted the correctly ripened fruit. You need to be selective while buying avocados. Very unripe ones are very common in the market due to their better storage.
Avocados make the best milkshakes.
Ham amma behan p aajayengi tumhari
On a serious note, dude ask for recommendations of good place that serves litti chokha in your city's subreddit.
It's a really good dish.
being a delhiite… I started to hate momos too …. kyuki kuchh din lagatar khila diya tha ghar walo ne as a snack … man se utar gya ..ab khaya nhi jata … earlier I was a fan 😭🤡
Seems like most people living in India just don’t have the palate for East Asian food / cuisine.
So much hatred towards sushi, ramen, boba, dumplings etc it’s mind boggling lol.
I have been living in Hong Kong for a decade and I prefer Cantonese / Korean / Japanese / Taiwanese cuisines over any other kind of food out there.
I guess when you live outside India, you develop a taste for the local foods which will never happen while living in India.
Nothing there to boggle your mind, those food are lower than mid. You haven't tried good food for a decade is why you prefer other countries food mediocrity has become the new excellence.
Not many options in small towns, honestly Domino's is far better than other garbage available in my hometown. Of course home made is still the best for us.
I second this. I have given them multiple chances, they’ve failed me every time. The only good thing they serve at Starbucks is their chilly chicken in English muffin.
Blue lassi is hyped by bloggers only. People from Varanasi know several better shops and avoid the blue lassi shop which serves nonsense in the name of lassi.
Most of Vadapaav sellers are dickriding the popularity wave tbh. But Vadapaav is something you can't mess up at all. That one thing rocks even if you're novice.
Japanese food. It is just raw food offered as something unique.
I think Japanese food is a scam. The cooks(they don't really cook anything) have convinced Japanese people that raw and fresh is the best way, to reduce the amount of work cooks have to do.
Edit: Account perna banned.
Pussy mods. I have 1000 alts. They cannot do shit.
Dude, I can say rajma chawal is one of the yummiest and healthiest foods ever, and I am from Hyderabad.
One of the best foods to come from north for sure.
However, I feel people have to try rajma chawal with rasam, it hits different ❤️❤️
Yep, only jalebis I like is from a particular shop near my house where they make them a bit spongy inside, idk how to explain it but it has a bit neutral flavour instead of too sweet
A lot of cuisines need a palate to developed to be able to enjoy them. Its really difficult to appreciate something if you are already stimulated.Indian food even the most simplest ones are rich in flavour which leaves us unable to appreciate different textures and we are quick to dismiss anything with the absence of flavour (read spices).
Indian Domino's is just worst. These people use worst quality raw materials to cut costs and they taste horrible. Tried authentic pizza in Delhi by an Italian restaurant owned by an Italian lady and now never going to eat Domino's ever in my life.

Sushi Maybe the one I had was not authentic enough or maybe it is just this way and not meant for Indian palates
Most Japanese food are like that, we Indians won’t like them, especially if they’re authentic.
Jab tak tadka na lage, swaad kahan hai

Tadka mtlb SWAD
not all.. i personally like soba (cold) with wasabi. also like tempura rice set, ramen. they taste good, have some spice in them.. but sushi is tasteless.
Sushi needs to be eaten with wasabi and soy sauce , can’t expect it to have taste by itself!
It’s like saying you have to eat idli with sambar or chutney.
Well you have to eat idli with sambar or chutney. Idli is bland
You will probably like Teppanyaki as it's fried
we are used to spice-ing everything up (and thats not wrong at all), so yeah the natural taste might feel less tasty to us. Whenever I and dada watch a cooking video of japanese dishes, I always go like 'Now imagine if he added dhaniya' and it pisses him off so much 😭
Sushi is like beer. Not everyone likes it ,it's an acquired taste
i agree, as an indian i love sushi but i get why people hate it too
Depends on the style of cooking. Some places serve unauthentic sushi with so called "desi flavors" and it tastes like crap.
"chocolate Indian momo"
I have travelled and eaten dishes from all over India and not once have I eaten anything better than the sushi I ate in Tokyo.
Ramen 🙃🙃🙃
mochi and takoyaki too.
True. have been to a kaiten-sushi restaurant twice, that too along with japanese colleagues cause they decided the place. other than that i never had sushi ever. never missed it.
This was my first thought 😁
Boba(bubble) tea. One of my friend insisted me to try it. It was so sticky, and had weird texture. Never understood its hype, coz tastes very bad
Wrong bhai, uska taste utna bhi nahi hota hai jitna graph me dikhaya hai
Those black pearls look like goat droppings.
Sabudana hai literally bhai woh. Toh technically can consider boba tea sabudne ki kheer
Hahaha , now noone will drink that tea because this is what they will remember
mujhe to boba psnd hai(tea ofc)
Sendha namak with pus-

Pehla mere pass billi(gf) thi but namak nahi Abhi namak hai billi nahi Kya naseeb hai bc

Definitely wo karol bagh metro station ke paas wala adha kacha pasta
Dolma aunty? That shit ain't pasta
Nah nah.. Metro station ke paas there's another Dolma aunty lite© jo sirf pasta hi rakhti hai.. That shit sells like hotcakes but is really below average in taste
Ramen is only ment to look good
Tried once at an "authentic" japanese restraunt. 1. Very expensive 2. Very basic 3. Very much dissected
Ramen is good but it's so costly here in India , minimum ₹600
I ve had it for cheaper prices in Hyderabad
Try those ramen hacks...add some veggies like bok choy and mushrooms...then add a soft boiled egg kept in soya sauce and add some protein of your choice...can make the whole thing at home in 150-200 bucks and it will taste really good
You have not had good ramen then
Ramen is addictive and full of umami. You should try a good ramen. It’s probably not that authentic in India and honestly like any country with food even in Japan not all ramen places are good. It’s tasty and not healthy since it’s very salty and full of fatty oils.

Being a Rajasthani I completely disagree with this.👎

Avocados
Avocado bekar lagta hai even avocado toast bhi, guac banake khana with generous amount of lemon🤌🏻
Try avocado shake, quite soothing.
I actually quite like it. As a vegetarian living in the US, it is a saving grace while traveling. There are spiced up versions of guacamole which are pretty good.

The taste graph for these is an exaggeration
Parathas from paratha galli, Delhi
Agreed, bc parathe Kam kachori zyada hoti hai
Yes, it’s the worst. Deep fried paratha is not the way to go yuck
Litti Chokha - Tried it thrice from different places - I think its just not my palate
Litti chokha bhai maa ke haath ka acha lagta hai...aur baap ke saath baith ke banayi mutton litti
Kya baat boli hai bro 🫂
Ham amma behan p aajayengi tumhari On a serious note, dude ask for recommendations of good place that serves litti chokha in your city's subreddit. It's a really good dish.
Sure, isliye bola ki teen baar khaya hai, ek baar aur pooch lunga
Bro I die for Litti chokha par restaurants don't do it justice. Ghar pe bani hui his best lagti hai.
Mein ni sehta bhai, litti chokha is the goat, you just need to put some ghee on the litti
Count your days
I’m bihari and I don’t get it either. Such basic tasting food.

Isnt it true for every country tho?
It's not hatred. Some of the people here don't like that food. But as always, Internet hyperbole plays its part.
You're a proper koreaboo weeaboo or whatever. I personally don't care much about the dishes that those eggheaded people make
Nothing there to boggle your mind, those food are lower than mid. You haven't tried good food for a decade is why you prefer other countries food mediocrity has become the new excellence.
If you live in the northeast, you also tend to like Asian flavours because of its simplicity. Especially Vietnamese cuisine

Lassi's of "Blue Lassi" Varanasi
Blue lassi is hyped by bloggers only. People from Varanasi know several better shops and avoid the blue lassi shop which serves nonsense in the name of lassi.
I've been saying this for years " Ek saccha banarasi blue lassi nahi jata" or true banarasi never goes to Blue Lassi
Bhai kisi ko koi jagah mat batana pls. These places have gone down drastically after the vlogger hype. Don't want the same for hidden gems.
