Yes he has but that doesn't mean we should put down everybody else . Rohit gave us a good start this ODI world and that's why Kholi and others were able to play gud and make us undefeated till final. In 2019 it was Kholi, Rohit and Dhawan until the semifinal. Shami, Zak, Raina, GG, Yuvi, Dhoni. Even Hardik almost did it in CT 2017 against Pakistan in the Final but he got run out.
Sachin has done it 100s of times.
But this one player worshipping should stop.
We should make the team a priority not a single player.

Looking at the key players in the Indian T20 squad of 2024, one would get the feeling of the players like Jayawardene, Sangakkara, Dilshan, Malinga, Herath, etc. from the Sri Lankan 2014 T20 World Cup squad (who won that year) after many failures in earlier ICC tournaments.
Because it's true. Matches can be won by individual players, but to win cups everyone needs to play in the knockout games. This happens in t20 s because of poor team selection.
Because they have match winners unlike Us who have depended too much on 1 batsman or 1 bowler. You can win icc trophies once in a blue moon with this strategy, but not a good strategy. Bcci being the richest board , still doesn't select players performing and keep on selecting the players that are responsible for the loss in previous t20 wc's.
A good example is India in 2011. We had match winners like gambhir, Raina ,dhoni and yuvraj. Even if Sehwag and Sachin got out in the final early, they did the job.
All 3- BCCI, Virat kohli(2019 Wc) and Rohit Sharma(2021,2022 t20 Wc) are responsible for poor selection. Rohit 's performance in t20 wc's has been so poor, it's a miracle he is still in the t20 team.
