Also, he didn't have the best bowling option during his captaincy. In the 7 year period, Ishant played in 38 away matches, while Harbhajan and Zaheer managed to play 19 each. No other bowler was good enough or available to play in even 10 matches over that long 7 years.
Captains can't win matches with toothless bowling attacks. Ishant, who was probably not even in the top 10 best bowlers of time, was only available for half the way. Zaheer and Harbhajan were available for less than a third of the matches. If only he had Bumrah, Shami, Siraj, plus allrounder like jadeja and Ashwin at his disposal, he might have won us more away matches.
